Quickie: Prevent Snow from Sticking to Shovel.

When the snow is wet and slushy, it never fails that the snow is much heavier and sticks to the shovel. An easy, quick tip to prevent the snow from sticking to the shovel is wiping it down with cooking oil or cooking spray, before you start to shovel.

Oil and water never mix, so it will make the snowy mush, slide right off the shovel as you toss it aside.

Tips on Triggers: Flu Still Hanging Around, Trigger Better Health.

The Flu season may not be over. It’s had plenty of forms, effecting many this season from the typical flu symptoms to the stomach bug.

If you have been able to keep it at bay, that’s great but if it’s been lingering or you feel it coming on, trigger the immune system with Vitamin D.

Vitamin D has been show to have many health benefits, including blocking the flu. Orange juice and milk with D are good sources. Supplements are a great source to get between 600-1000 I.U. daily. Check with your doctor to see what’s right for you.

Keep Curtains from Getting Stuck. Tips in Action:

Tips in Action: Keep Curtains from Getting Stuck.

Have you ever had a battle with the curtains getting tripped up on the curtain rod? Have you tried to slide them open or closed, to get them snagging on the lip of where the curtain rod comes together?

Here’s an easy tip to prevent that from happening. When you hang the curtains up; having them adjusted to the correct size and the curtains are on, wrap the connection with a piece of clear tape. Make sure the tape is flat and tight around the connection, (if not, tape can cause the same headache).

Doing this should help the curtains slide open and closed with much ease.

Organizing the Medicine Cabinet.

Organizing the Medicine Cabinet.

Now a days, its crazy to say, but people have more meds, then what will fit, in the over the sink medicine cabinets. Finding alternate storage is a must.

A great way to organize a medicine cabinet is to get little bins or containers to group together certain medications.

The containers don’t have to be expensive; getting something that will fit a cabinet from the local dollar store could be a great option. I use wash bins, that I got from a hospital stay. Those rectangular yellow basins, are perfect for putting over the counter meds in one and scripts in another and one more for vitamins and supplements . This keeps down any clutter. Put the ones you would use often towards the front, and those that are specialty in the back.

Be sure to store all medications in a safe, away from children, dry, cool location. And, schedule a medicine clean out every few months or bi-annual, to dispose of expired medications. Be sure to dispose of meds properly, using coffee grounds or find out if your doctor’s office has a drop off, for expired medications.

Remove Mud Stains on Carpet. Quickie:

By Tia Cristy

Quickie: Remove Mud Stains on Carpet.

With wet conditions, it is easy to pick up dirt and mud on the shoes. Trekking it in the house to end up embedded into the rug, can be an unsightly hassle.

The simple way to get the mud stain out of the carpet is to first, vacuum over the stain. Then, spray a mix of 1 part Peroxide and 4 parts water over the stain (remember, peroxide is a natural bleach, so use with caution on darker rugs).

Put a towel over the stain for 10 minutes, while periodically pressing on the towel. This will lift up the mud.

Finally, mix together a grease fighting dish soap and water, and rub with a new clean towel, to get the remainder of the stain and neutralize the peroxide. Let dry, and vacuum again.

The stain should be lifted, naturally. Repeat process until stain has been lifted.
