Touch Up Roots in Seconds. Tips in Action:

Tips in Action: Touch Up Roots in Seconds.

Whether it’s grey or natural color has started to peek through the scalp, you can touch your roots up in seconds, without dye. Dying hair should only be done about every 30 days. So, if those little buggers come through too soon, or you just haven’t had time to touch up with dye, here’s a tip for you.

Grab the eyeshadow that matches closely to your hair color; sometimes a shade darker works best. Apply the eyeshadow to your finger and thumb heavily. Take the sections at the scalp you are looking to touch up and glide in the eyeshadow. Reapply to get the correct tone, if needed.

This will give a quick cover to your locks, and stay until it is washed out.

(recap) Slow Moving Drain. How to help the Organic way.

Problem:

The drains
in my house are moving a bit slower than usual. It’s not a full out right clog,
the drain just tends to take it’s time letting the water empty. Is there any
prevention or something to help with this? I hate using the harsh chemicals to
often. Val, 54

Tip from Tia:

I know what
you mean, you have to turn the faucet off, to watch the water run just fast
enough, to allow all the floaters in the sink, to now make a lovely ring around
the basin. It’s terrible. You then, stand there to wait for the water to fully
drain. After that, you can finally start the water back up, while splashing the
sides, fast a possible, on the things left behind, while they make their way to the drain. Repeat as necessary. Annoying!

Here’s a quick
fix that can help the slow drain before it becomes a clog that only the strong
stuff can handle. It’s more like something you’d see at the science fair, but
it’s natural, organic and it helps. Remember the volcanic eruption experiment? It’s
truly the same concept.

All you need is baking soda, vinegar and rubber gloves
for safety. Yes, it’s that simple. But the trick is getting the baking soda
into the drain pipe. If your drain stopper doesn’t seem to come out easily, get
a firm piece of paper and funnel it around the drain opening. Pour the baking
soda slowly through, because it tends to clump. Then after you got about a ½
cup in the drain, you add the vinegar. It will fizz like crazy. Quickly close
the stopper of the drain to allow the fizz to flow downwards.

Remember liquids
travels in the path of least resistance. When the effervescence is gone and the
reaction has stopped, open the drain back up and run warm water through the
pipe for a minute or so. Doing this every so often before the water starts
collecting a puddle, can help in the prevention of having a tough clog in the
future.

*If tough clogs are flooding the vessels and even industrial chemicals
are not helping, you may need to call in a professional plumber for further
assistance.

The Color of Red. Tips on Triggers:

By Tia Cristy

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Tips on Triggers: The Color of Red.

Red is the color of Valentine’s Day. For good reason in fact. The color of red can raise your blood pressure, spark tons of emotions and draws immediate attention to the brain.

It is true that red isn’t always good attention for the brain, but it does command attention and tells the brain to quickly focus. Hence, stop signs and red lights.

But, as red partners up with pink for Valentine’s Day, it triggers the brain to stop, focus, feel passion and engage towards romance.

So if you are in need to get some of that positive attention, wearing reds and pinks, can provide some influence in your favor. If your wardrobe doesn’t fit the bill for you, adding reds and pinks to a room for the evening can inspire the desired mood.

Remember, you still have to provide romantic gestures, the colors won’t do it alone, but it can help enhance both your senses.

Those Little Things the Make Valentine’s Day. Tips in Action:

By Tia Cristy

Best of Love Week!

Tips in Action: Those Little Things the Make Valentine’s Day.

Don’t forget to do the little gestures for your partner everyday; not just Valentine’s Day. But, if romance isn’t your everyday thing, here’s some tips to give a little attention to romance this week.

Write a love letter. A full page or so, of what your partner means to you. You don’t have to be poetic or have a writing ability to do this, just write what you feel.

Want more of an “in your face approach”, grab a lipstick and write on the mirror so they see it first thing. (Guys if your grabbing your woman’s lipstick to do this, grab an old one that looks dusty, not her brand new favorite, just a warning for you.)

If your partner is taking or making dinner for you, you should try to do the breakfast for them. Even just a cup of their most enjoyed morning beverage, is a great big way to say, “your appreciated”.

And, a gesture or hint to let your partner know, what they are in for later that day, is a good way to build the anticipation of the evening. Both of you will be almost, promised a good day while you await your reuniting.

Little things, do go a long way, try to remember that, everyday.

Men, how to get a parlor shave without razor burn and ingrowns.

By Tia Cristy

(Recap) Men, how to get a parlor shave without razor burn and ingrown’s.

Guys, this one is for you.

Men love to get a good shave and it’s a nice gift, if their lady gets them a trip to the barber, but what’s even sexier, is getting that parlor feel on a regular, weekly basis. And ladies, you can help your man get this feel at home.

First thing, wet a hand towel and wring it out, leave it in a bundle and then pop it in the microwave for about a minute. (give or take, depending on microwave wattage)

Check temperature, if it’s too hot, let it cool. Note: The face is more sensitive than the hands. Wrap the towel cradling the chin, so the towel covers the jawline and comes around the neck. Leave the nose open for breathing. Sit and relax for 5 to 10 minutes if you’ve got the time. (Guys need pamper time, too)

After the towel starts to cool, remove and make a sugar mixture. In a bowl combine about a 1/4 cup of sugar with a few teaspoons of water. The consistency should be like wet sand. Apply the sugar paste to the area that’s about to be shaven. To exfoliate, rub in a circular motion with a slight amount of pressure. It should not burn. (if it burns wash off immediately) Be sure to put the mixture down the neck as well. Once you are exfoliated, rinse off with warm water. Pat dry.

It’s now time to froth up that shaving cream before applying. In a clean bowl, squirt in your usual amount of shaving cream. Take a fork and whisk the cream up to allow some more air into the foam. (don’t over whisk or let sit too long, pending on cream it could go runny)

Apply to the face in desired shaving areas. Take your favorite non-electric razor, make sure it is clean and not dull. Begin to shave. Be aware of your pressure, since the exfoliating process removed dead skin and raised follicles higher than you maybe use too. SIDE NOTE: If a guy is being romantic and letting his lady shave him, give instructions prior; remember legs are different than faces. Don’t want to ruin a romantic moment with an accident.

(From the ingrown Tip
In a lot of ingrown hair cases for both men and women the razor is to
blame,
reason being, blade is too dull. Men have more blades on their razor
since it’s used for the face and neck so it gives a closer shave. But,
if the blade is dull, the blade clips the hair crooked and
irritates the skin to
plump up, and close off, causing the remainder of the hair to go back
under the skin and
loop.)

Once you are done the shave, rinse with warm water and pat dry. The splash face and neck again with cool water and pat dry. Don’t rub. Allow the air to dry the rest. Don’t use after shave with alcohol, it will only irritate the face. (Sugar is good
for healing open wounds such as razor burn. So use the left over sugar if needed
)

It’s important to moisturize after the shave. Again nothing with alcohol, or a sting factor. If you’re unsure, open up a bead of vitamin E, squeeze the entire capsule in your hand, spread and apply lightly. It’s thick and sticky but it will moisturize with out stinging. let sit for a minute and splash with cold water and pat dry. Your shave will feel parlor done.
