Hair Looks Thin, but is Time to Maintain Color.

Baby's Ear TipsfromTia.com

Problem:
My hair is really thinning, and of course I’m freaked out, but it’s time to bleach it and I just don’t want to do anything to it, in fear of losing more hair. I want to know is there anything I can do? K, 28

Tips from Tia: Baby thin hair is only temporary for babies, and adults don’t look as cute with it, it’s just a fact. So first, do you know the reason your hair is thinning? Is it the change of season? Have you’ve been sick, are you sick, been on medicine or had a bad dye job previously?

There are many reasons you could be losing hair. Sometimes yeast could be blocking your follicles, which you would need a anti-fungal regimen for your scalp. A scalp problem could cause thinning. A vitamin deficiency could cause hair loss as well. If any of these things are going on, it maybe time to ask your doctor to check it out.

Now, you need to brighten up your color, whatever color it may be. You said bleach, so if you want to be blonde, say “no” to the bleach for now. Get the blondest light permanent you can find, the more nourishing probably the better. If you are trying to achieve the highlight effect, I recommend a cream color, which will allow you to foil it in as you would a bleach. You can do this foil effect with any color. Multi-tone hair colors are better for looking fuller, than having one solid color.

Color will plump the hair, instead of deplete it like a bleach will. So stay away from products that strip the hair (bleaches, relaxers, straighteners and perms), until you have rebuilt strength to your hair. You may want to add a protein enriched shampoo and conditioner to help strengthen the hair. And remember, before you dry your hair, let it air dry to a damp wet, and apply a thermal protector to your strands before applying the heat from the dryer. This will help protect the weak strands from breakage.

And, when in doubt, leave it to a professional. It’s better to pay a colorist, then pay for a mishap.

If That Glass Don’t Shine. Quickie:

tipsfromtia.com, Tips from Tia

So I was out and about the other night, and someone made a comment about the bartender wiping down the wine glasses. I looked over to notice this and I was happy to see this quick tip being used.

The easiest way to get a glorious shine on your drinking glasses, is to use a coffee filter.

Simply, dry damp glasses with a coffee filter to get a great, spot free shine.  Your guest will think the glass they are using is brand new.

Stupid Tip Of The Day; Plucking Your Eyebrows Without a Plan

By Tia Cristy

Stupid Tip of the Day; What Not To Do

Plucking your own eyebrows with out a plan.
Beautiful Eyes

Meaning: If you pluck, you better know where your natural arch is.

Knowing where to let your eye brow start and where it should end is key. The only thing more awkward then the uni-brow, is the brows that are too far apart.

Use a line to start, put your finger flat against the side of your nose to the brow. That is the starting area.

Now put your finger at the corner of your eye and go diagonal towards the top of your ear. That’s the finish line.

Always pluck the under side of the brow, not the top.

If it’s your first time plucking (even if you’ve waxed before) pluck a little at a time. Biggest mistake even a seasoned plucker can do, is over pluck.

Keep Snakes Away.

Keep Snakes Away.

“Snake Skin” by Karen Shaw FreeDigitalPhotos.net

Problem: I found a snake while gardening, How do I keep them away?

Tip from Tia: Snakes can roam and roam into areas that can take you off guard and places where you don’t want them.

Coolest tip to know about snakes is, the eyes. If the eyes are in front of the head, don’t worry, no matter what color. If eyes are on the side of the head, you may want to call pest control and stay away from snapping reach. Remember, they can snap 3/4 the size of their body length.

There are products on the market that can repel snakes, but I’m not positive on what reaction it has on house pets.

First Tip… Moth balls smell strong and that odor will drive snakes away. Moth balls have toxins, but the smell is usually what keeps most animals and things away, usually including household pets. (It can make your pet ill, if eaten. But the smell usually keeps them from trying to eat.)

Place a single moth ball every so many feet, around the outside perimeter of your home structure. Start with putting a few under any decks or sheds attached to the house first, and move in clock or counter-clock wise way around the house. This leaves a way, for the pest to retreat. You can place them the same way, around the outside structures of sandboxes or before you reach the decking of pools.

Second Tip… Be sure to keep your landscape clean, well trimmed and rake up leaves and other debris. Snakes and other pest like piles, so remove piles as quickly as created, when doing landscaping.

And, Finally… The easiest solution that I recommend is, get ceramic or carved animals like the owl or other big bird statues and place it around the pool, sand box or around the house. Snakes can’t see like we do; they see silhouettes, and they can see from far away. So, when the snake sees the outline of the giant predator they will go the other way.
