With less exposure to the sun in the winter, we can loose a lot of Vitamin D. The suns rays haven’t provided us with the nutrients we need or given us that glow. This can leave a lot of us looking and feeling pale.
Get your daily Vitamin D in your foods or supplements and 10 minutes daily without sunblock, the sun to help with your overall health, mood and appearance. You can check with your doctor to see where your Vitamin D levels are.
Too much vitamin D is rare, but can be harmful. After winter, levels can be low. It’s always best to have your doctor check them annually. If you are in the sun longer than 10 minutes be sure to apply a sunblock even in the colder months.
And, give your self a natural looking glow with a face bronzer. Apply it in “3/E” strokes. Start at the top of the forehead and stroke to the cheek while, finishing at the chin on both sides of your face.

Start Off on the Right Foot with Generous New Year Investments
All of us like to think that New Year will bring a fresh start, both when it comes to our private lives and to business. Starting off on the right foot with generous investments is something that should concern all the local authorities in the world, simply because there are so many people out there who need their help. There is so much to be done, but one question inevitably arises – Who needs our help the most? Stay with us in order to find out the answer.
• Homeless People

Winter can be very tough, and homeless people certainly know that first-hand. Helping them during the cold days is something that we as humans need to do, and local authorities are the ones who should make it happen. Building a shelter where homeless can stay when the low temperatures strike has to be financed from the budget, as well as the food that should be provided for those people. Besides that, we are the ones who have to help, too. Donating canned goods or a bag of groceries to a local homeless shelter may seem insignificant, but they will certainly appreciate your concern.
• People Who Are Battling Cancer
Supporting people with cancer is very important because they need our positive energy as a motivation to deal with it. Providing a centre for support within a local hospital may be the right thing for local authorities to start a New Year. Counselling can help the patients to sort out different types of problems they may face while dealing with cancer, which is exactly why authorities should invest a certain amount of money for educating people for the purpose for helping the patients. Also, the government may finance various projects and workshops that will help those people divert their thoughts from the disease by channelling their energy into something creative.
• Children Without Parental Care

Unfortunately, more and more children nowadays lose their first line of protection – their parents. Many of them live in orphanages or other institutions with other children who are there because of the same circumstances. These kids do not need much to be happy. Investing some money from the local budget into constructing a playground for them is a great way to show that they are important, too. Tubes and tunnels, climbing walls, swings, seesaws and playhouses are just some of the elements that are required for building a perfect playground. Besides that, it can be painted in order to be both educational and entertaining. For example, you can paint a permanent hopscotch, so that all the girls can enjoy it without having to draw it every time they want to play. In that way they will learn the numbers, and the jumping will improve their motor skills. Another great idea is to use your practical cordless tool kit to build a tree-house with rope ladders and watchtower.
• People with Disability
It is well-known that people with disabilities, and especially those in wheelchair, often find themselves in very challenging situations as soon as they go outside of their homes. Local authorities should have that in mind when planning the annual budget, simply because there are so many things that need to be provided for these people. Ramps that will help them approach and enter any building and parking spots for the disabled are just some things to start with. Besides that, all of us should help those people and understand that even though they are slightly different – they are still humans as all of us.
Finding a way to help to people in need is actually what defines us as human beings. The amount of help is not important – it is essential that we recognize that there are many people around who are not as lucky as we are. As soon as we acknowledge that, the world will become a much better place to live.

Quickies: Is winter heating drying out your sinuses?
Here’s a quick tip that can change the air you breathe. Depending upon the air/heating system you have in your home, is how to do this quick tip. All you need is a clean disposable pan you get at the store or from takeout, and fill it half way with water.
Forced Air: Put the pan of water as close to the vent without covering the plate
Baseboard Heat:
Choose an open corner that won’t have heavy traffic and slide as close under as you can get. (SIDE NOTE: do not put directly under an outlet)
Radiators: Place pan under radiator.
The heat will evaporate the water into the air to give it some moisture. The water will evaporate over a couple days. Rinse pan and refill with fresh water to keep the air fresh. You can use any pan that will fit in the area, I just suggest the disposable since it will leave a crystallization behind on the pan.

Tips on Triggers: Kick Start the Metabolism During Winter for Resolution.
So, you have the resolution to shed some pounds for the new year. It’s OK, that’s the most common of resolutions every year.
First thing is first, you must keep your immune system up. Exercise is a way to build you immune system as well as diet. Adding Vitamin C is a great immune builder. Once your insides are feeling good, your outsides will start to show results. A healthy immune system will help your metabolism kick start and work properly.
A few good herbs to add into your diet will help in digestion and trigger the metabolism to become active in a dormant winter. Those herbs are things like parsley, basil and cinnamon, which are also great to help with digestion. Adding these garnishes to your meals and snacks, can have a positive outcome on your system. SIDE NOTE: Some individuals have allergies to herbs, use caution if it’s the first time trying any herb.
Eating 17 almonds (no more), daily, can help boost the metabolism.
Adding in activity, proper diet and portions will allow one to see results faster, but don’t get discouraged if the numbers aren’t quickly lowering, feeling good it the key. Don’t over do exercise or labor, remember slow and steady wins the race. Many times, people tend to over workout in one day and can’t move for days later; not effective.

Problem: Hey Tia, I tried to quit smoking for my New Year’s resolution, didn’t work, so I again tried to give it up for Lent, I am not doing so good. Any tips?
Tips from Tia:
That is why I don’t do resolutions, I don’t like to disappoint myself. Quitting is a tough thing to do, and you can’t be disappointed it didn’t happen. There is no magic for giving up smoking. It’s retraining your body and your brain. It comes down to several factors, and the first one is, you have to be ready to quit. There are many reasons to make someone ready to quit, number one is usually health related. But, if quitting is not what you want, it won’t happen.
Once you have the will power to do it, remember everyone is different, and cold turkey isn’t working for you, the process can be aided by gums or patches. The one item, I’ve seen really help people, is the vapor cigarette. I have heard of much caution with patches and gums with smoking the occasional cigarette. I have not heard of any caution needed with the vapor cigarette, except for the handling of the nicotine directly. One woman I talked to used it all day and smoked a couple real cigarettes at night. But again, everyone is different. It comes in different strengths; controlling your own nicotine intake and flavors and it gives you the ability to curb the physical need to smoke. It’s vapor so the smoke just disappears. Some people have gotten very revolutionary and extensive with their vapor smokes, and it can be a bit confusing and overwhelming to look up.
Another aid that can help, are amino acids, they help the brain fire and curb the receptors trying to get that chemical release that smoking gives. For example, people light up after sex or a big meal, that is because your pleasure chemicals called dopamine has surged and smoking simulates serotonin to balance and keep you feeling better longer. If you balance your amino’s with the help of your doctor, balance will be achieved at some point, on it’s own, without the smoke.
Be sure to talk with your doctor about quitting, and inform your doctor of any things you decide to try. Remember, you haven’t failed if you have cut back. It takes one step at a time.
