New Year Resolutions: What You Should Promise Yourself in the New Year
Photo Provided by Guest Blogger Amy G.
The New Year’s Eve is almost here, which means that the majority of people are thinking about what they have accomplished in the last 365 days. New Year’s resolutions are the best opportunity for us to make important changes which motivate and inspire us very much, since the beginning of the new year brings an opportunity for a fresh start. Sit down and come up with a list of the changes you want to make – if you are not sure, here is a bit of help from us. Good luck!
Stop Procrastinating
Procrastinating is a tricky habit – once you get used to it, it will be very hard to snap yourself out of it. The truth is that it is much easier to do something fun and relax instead of working hard – everyone would agree with that. However, this will just prolong the whole process that inevitably has to be done. There are numerous tips that can help you stop procrastinating. After all, the most important thing is to find your own way of dealing with it.
Be More Confident and Take Some Chances
Self-confident and outgoing people are certainly much more noticeable than those who are quiet and shy. When other people notice your confidence, it is highly likely that your opinion will be heard, which will largely contribute to your overall success – both in private life and in business. Besides that, the right amount of self-confidence will help you lead much happier and fulfilled life.
Go organic – go green
Choosing to switch to organic food is probably the best decision you can make for your own health. However, it can get very complicated, especially when you realize that junk food is all around. Determination is crucial in this resolution – with some basic tips you can gradually develop healthy eating habits. It is essential for you to learn how to control emotional eating and to find out which reasons lead to the failure of your diet. Also, if you haven’t already, switch to organic cosmetics – use everything organic, even makeup brushes!
Get in Shape

It can be quite hard to find a decent exercise and diet program that will give great results and will be easy to keep up with in the long run. Losing weight and getting fit is possible with a lifestyle change, so you have to be ready to try some different things that will contribute to your success. Besides that, consuming particular nutrients after your workout, will improve your performance and overall recovery. These drinks are a perfect option that is both healthy and very delicious.
Pick Up Useful Skills or Fun Hobbies
Use your free time constructively – sitting around all day is definitely not beneficial to anyone. Pick up some skills and hobbies that will entertain you and make you feel useful at the same time. No matter whether it is crocheting, learning foreign language, or sports – it is important that you find something that fulfils you.
Spend More Time With the People Who Matter
Life is too short to waste it on hypocritical and insincere people. Instead, focus on the ones who and are there for you no matter what. These people are definitely worth your attention, and they will put a smile on your face in both good and bad times. True friends will focus on you and hear what you are saying, and will always be honest with you. Besides that, they will accept you just as you are.
No matter what you decide, give your best to accomplish your resolutions and make some long-term changes in your life. The future-you will certainly be glad you did that. Just have in mind that life is hard sometimes, but when you overcome the challenges, you become much stronger. So, what are your New Year’s resolutions?

It is well-known that our mouth is lingering with bacteria. Every day, our strongest fighter against them is saliva – which is meant to wash them away and reduce their number. However, Saliva is no Superman, so it needs some help in fighting bacteria and preventing cavities. Find out how to do it in a natural way in the following paragraphs.
What is a cavity?
Cavity, also known as tooth decay and dental caries, is a hole or hollow in a tooth caused by a break down that is the result of the activity of bacteria. Their most recognizable syndromes include pain, change of colour (into brown or black), as well as inflammation of the surrounding tissue or the formation of abscess in severe cases.
When we eat food, especially acidic, our mouth is fighting a combat with this new environment by injecting or pumping saliva in order to wash it away and prevent the emergence of bacteria. The result of this natural way of washing is restoring balance in our mouth; however, when there is not enough saliva, or when the food or drink is too strong for it (such as in the case of coffee or other sodas), food leftovers stay in between teeth for a longer period, which further causes bacteria to start swarming in our mouth. When this happens for a longer period of time, cavities can occur.
Natural ways of preventing cavities
In a recent conversation with orthodontics, we have learned that our lifestyle can change the creation of cavities. Here is how:
• Avoid sugary food – Even though sugar does not directly cause cavities, its staying attached to our teeth and generally inside our mouth can cause many different bacteria to multiply and thus cause cavities. What you can do to avoid this is simply – avoid sugary food and drinks as much as you can. It would be best to stop taking them completely, but, since we are all humans (and occasionally need some boosting), even when you eat or drink food and beverages containing sugar – make sure that you have your toothbrush and toothpaste beside you. If that is not the case, tap water will do ad hoc, just to wash away the sweet taste – but you should definitely brush as soon as possible.
• Eat healthy food – Foods that your mouth and teeth will only benefit from are apples, which help washing and brush away food leftovers, as well as nuts, cheese and high fibre food which increase the production of saliva and strengthen enamel. Xylitol is a natural sweetener which can replace sugar in your food, and you can even take it in in the form of sugar-free gums, which are rich in xylitol.
• Oil pulling – This ancient Ayurvedic technique implies swishing your teeth with sunflower or sesame oil for approximately 20 minutes reduces mouth bacteria and plaque, and makes your teeth whiter and brighter.
• Brush early in the morning – This is obvious, but is is important to highlight that you need to brush bacteria that have built up during the night, as well as plaque which is a normal consequence of sleep.

Also, you should brush after every meal, but the morning and night brushing are simply a must. Of course, do not forget to clean your braces thoroughly every day (here are some basics differences between invisalign and braces).
Even though genetics can play almost the biggest role in the emergence of cavities, there are, still, some things we can do in order to prevent them. Eating a healthy diet, which includes eating fruit, vegetables and drinking a lot of milk on a daily basis, with addition to and avoiding sugary drinks and coffee can help you keep the level of bacteria in your mouth on a reasonable level.

(recap) How to keep those Homemade Christmas Cookies Fresh
Merry Christmas!
So you baked a bunch of cookies or someone gave you cookies as a gift, but homemade cookies don’t have all those preservatives in them to keep them fresh for long periods of time. So how do you keep those tasty treats good, for the 12 days of Christmas?
Add a slice of white bread to the top of the package they are in. This will absorb the air and moisture, and the bread will get stale not the cookies. Replace the bread with a new piece, once it starts to get hard. This will help keep the cookies lasting longer, and gives you a chance to eat them all; not throw them out. I can’t help you with the feeling of guilt, for eating them all, but I’ll offer you the assurance they were probably made with “love”, so enjoy the love.

Many people this year have work and then, have a dinner they have to go to or maybe cooking themselves. Only plan a menu that you enjoy having. No one has fun in the kitchen with someone that’s freaking out and yelling. It’s supposed to be an event not a race. Sip your beverage, eat some appetizers and stir your gravy while spending time with family and friends.
Seeing all the friends and family; traveling is a big to do with the holidays, make sure you fill your tank before you get home to pick up everyone, or fill up on your way back from the nights festivities. Multitask the family if possible, invite one side to visit the other side of the family with you. It gives more time to visit. the more time on the road.
Christmas morning:
Wake up to having the coffee and mugs ready where you can just push start or add the heat. If you even want to, you can add your sugar and cream/milk in a mug, cover it with plastic and put it in the refrigerator the night before.
Have a breakfast prepped the night before too, if that’s a tradition. Most people complain of exhaustion after opening presents, but that’s really the start of your day, so pace yourself as best as you can.
Opening presents; put the kids to work. Have a trash bag ready and when the kids unwrap a gift make them take a pause to put the paper in the bag before or right after opening one present. This method is said to teach kids a patience, but I think it’s great idea in keeping the situation de-cluttered and not allowing presents to accidentally be thrown out. (been there, tearing open the bags to find something lost after cleaning up)
Christmas dinner:
Keep it as calm as you want it, if dinner is at your house, you set the tone. If it’s at someone elses house, well let them set the tone. Christmas cooking gets crazy when there’s too many hands in the pot, they say “it spoils the soup”.
Most important thing to remember is the meaning of your celebrations and be surrounded with those you want to be surrounded with. I hope you have a safe and happy holiday.
