And, you think Christmas is hectic for you?

Christmas is a time for love, joy and giving, but sometimes it can give you a headache. (look at triggers to relieve that)

Christmas Eve:

Many people this year have work and then, have a dinner they have to go to or maybe cooking themselves. Only plan a menu that you enjoy having. No one has fun in the kitchen with someone that’s freaking out and yelling. It’s supposed to be an event not a race. Sip your beverage, eat some appetizers and stir your gravy while spending time with family and friends.

Seeing all the friends and family; traveling is a big to do with the holidays, make sure you fill your tank before you get home to pick up everyone, or fill up on your way back from the nights festivities. Multitask the family if possible, invite one side to visit the other side of the family with you. It gives more time to visit. the more time on the road.

Christmas morning:

Wake up to having the coffee and mugs ready where you can just push start or add the heat. If you even want to, you can add your sugar and cream/milk in a mug, cover it with plastic and put it in the refrigerator the night before.

Have a breakfast prepped the night before too, if that’s a tradition. Most people complain of exhaustion after opening presents, but that’s really the start of your day, so pace yourself as best as you can.

Opening presents; put the kids to work. Have a trash bag ready and when the kids unwrap a gift make them take a pause to put the paper in the bag before or right after opening one present. This method is said to teach kids a patience, but I think it’s great idea in keeping the situation de-cluttered and not allowing presents to accidentally be thrown out. (been there, tearing open the bags to find something lost after cleaning up)

Christmas dinner:

Keep it as calm as you want it, if dinner is at your house, you set the tone. If it’s at someone elses house, well let them set the tone. Christmas cooking gets crazy when there’s too many hands in the pot, they say “it spoils the soup”.

Most important thing to remember is the meaning of your celebrations and be surrounded with those you want to be surrounded with. I hope you have a safe and happy holiday.
