Seven Driving Tips to Keep You Safe On The Road

Seven Driving Tips to Keep You Safe On The Road

Being on the roads is an adventure. No one goes out driving and believe that they aren’t free; the long highways and the chance to move as you please makes you freer than if you were on public transport. The only issue with driving is that you are responsible not only for yourself, but the lives of others on the road. You are responsible for ensuring that you are safe on the road, and if every driver does this, there’s a better chance everyone can remain safe and drive without incident.

Unfortunately, there are a select few out there who drive like maniacs, completely ignoring the safety rules of the road and the importance of protecting others who are driving alongside them. Being in your car means being in charge of a large machine and moving it from place to place without hitting anyone or putting yourself in danger. It is for this reason that you need to familiarize yourself with road safety at least once a year.

So, let’s take a look at seven driving tips to help you to remain as safe as possible on the road.

Keep Your Eyes Open For Blind Spots

Being on the road means that you need to be constantly focused on what you are looking at. It’s not just what’s in front of you, but your peripheral vision, too. What do you notice as you drive? Can you see anything that impairs your vision? Visibility is necessary in the prevention of road accidents, and if you are mindful of blind spots you can avoid this happening. You can do this by:

  • Changing lanes as little as possible
  • Check your side mirrors very regularly
  • Get to know the blind spots in terms of trees/nature and trucks ahead in the road

If you are blind on the road, you’re more likely to have accidents and either harm yourself or harm others. If you are in an accident because of a blind spot, a car accident lawyer can explain your options to you. There are blind spots everywhere, so it’s up to you to do what you can to see and be seen on the road. Don’t close your eyes to blind spots when these are what can affect you on the road.

Mind Your Distances

You must always keep a safe distance from other cars, which is the idea of a braking distance. You need to be able to brake without smashing into someone else, and you need to be able to do it safely. Driving is a skill in which you learn how to be safe and stop at safe distances through your lessons. When you are learning, you rely on someone else to tell you when to stop so that you can stop safely. When you are qualified, it’s up to you to know how far you are from someone else. Keep yourself – and everyone else – safe by braking at a safe distance, and even further back in wet or icy weather.

Don’t Be Distracted

Music is a wonderful thing, but even the most experience drivers often prefer to leave the music off. Distractions cause delayed reactions, and distracte driving is a leading cause of road accidents. Those in larger vehicles need to be as vigilant as possible on the road even more so than regular cars.

Listening to music, talking on the phone, eating while driving and smoking are all distractions – none of these will ensure you’re 100% safe on the road, and that’s the goal. Be vigilant.

And under no circumstances, Please, DO NOT text and drive! It’s not only the worst distraction from driving safe, but it’s illegal in most areas.

5 of the Best Ways to Invest in Yourself

5 of the Best Ways to Invest in Yourself

As adults, most of us are good at putting others first- we care for our kids, our parents/ grandparents and our partner. We’re always there to provide a shoulder to cry on for our friends and give them advice, but when it comes to ourselves we can be at the bottom of our own priority lists. Many of us can actually feel bad or guilty when we invest time or money into ourselves, but it shouldn’t be the case. Always remember that you’re important to, and you deserve to be happy. Investing into yourself shouldn’t be seen as selfish, but necessary. Here are a few of the ways you can go about it.

Learn to drive

Research shows that fewer millennials tend to drive than generations before them, and when they do, they get their licenses much later. There are lots of reasons for this, from busy cities not being car friendly to the accessibility of lift apps like Uber and more reliable public transport. However, being able to drive is still a really useful skill to have. If you want to move away later in life you won’t be able to rely on the public transport system as heavily. Being able to drive can also improve your job prospects. Even if you don’t plan on purchasing and driving a car right now, taking your lessons and getting your license means you’re able to in the future if you need to. See learning to drive as an investment in yourself, it’s a useful life skill which could come in really handy.

Focus on health

There’s only one you; you only have one body so it’s important to take care of it as best you can. Your health is an investment, buy good quality food that’s going to nourish you and skip out on the cheap, convenient rubbish. You don’t have to have a gym membership to get fit, but if you find that having one encourages you to workout then don’t feel bad about spending the money on it. Spending any kind of time or money on your health is never going to be a bad thing. Eating well doesn’t have to be difficult, and these days it’s easy to fit it around your everyday life. From mail order, high quality foods delivered to your door (check out this omaha steaks review as an example) to opting for a healthy restaurant or a healthy dish at a restaurant if you go out. These days, most places cater for those looking to eat less fat or calories, so it doesn’t mean you need to give up going out and eating with friends.

Improve your smile

Your smile is so important; it’s how you communicate with the world and is closely linked with your self esteem. If you’re insecure about your teeth, you can find that you hold back, you cover your mouth with your hands or try to avoid smiling instead of just being in the moment with others. If you don’t like the way your teeth look, consider going to a dentist and seeing what they can do- veneers, teeth whitening and braces are amongst the treatments you can have. Taking care of your newly fixed up teeth is important too. learn about flossing and the importance of regular brushing. Even missing out on brushing your teeth a couple of times can be enough for cavities to start or stains to develop so it’s important to be consistent.

Get educated

Most of us couldn’t wait to leave school and get out into the big wide world, but later on as adults we can appreciate how incredible education is. It opens your mind and opens doors in your career, taking on more education is a smart move regardless of what path you’re on in life.

Travel

Finally, travel is more than just a luxury. It’s great for mental health and personal development, there’s nothing quite like experiencing new things around different cultures in different climates and completely different ways of life that makes you question your own. Travel gives you perspective, builds memories and gives you stories to tell. If you have the time and money, always grab the opportunity with both hands. You don’t always need a huge budget- road trips, backpacking and camping are all cheap and cheerful and allow you to go to new places without spending a fortune on hotels.

Telephone Services

If you are keen to meet someone, but you are perhaps a little shy, then you might find that phone dating is a good way to go. This can be a nice way to introduce yourself to someone and to meet a few potential suitors, and yet in a way which means that you don’t even need to leave your home. For many people, that is a useful way to get through the initial nerves of meeting someone. You might even think about starting to meet new people this way, and then moving on to other methods, or meeting some of those people in person after the fact. In any case, it’s worth considering.

Clubs & Groups

A good way to find someone who is going to be good for you is to go out and start engaging in hobbies which you like to partake in, especially group ones. If you can find groups and clubs for these, then you should be able to ensure that you are going to meet people who are absolutely like-minded, and that is a sure sign that you will be able to find someone new who is going to be good for you. Such clubs and groups are going to be a great idea, so it is worth looking into this at your earliest convenience. What kind of groups are in your area that you might want to think about joining?

Singles Bars

Of course, many of the traditional means of meeting someone are still relevant, which is why you might also want to think about going out to singles bars and trying to meet someone that way. These can be nerve-wracking places for many people, but in many ways putting yourself out there in those scary situations is going to mean that you are doing a lot for your confidence anyway. If you think you are not capable of this, that might mean that it is going to be the kind of thing that you should actually be doing. And who knows: you might even meet the person of your dreams in the process, and really hit it off with them.

Handling A Break Up In A Healthy Way

Handling A Break Up In A Healthy Way

When a relationship breaks down, it can be difficult to keep things amicable no matter how hard you try. Although you were once in love and happy, now you are the polar opposite. You want to be as far away from your ex-partner as possible and you want to start afresh. It can be difficult to do this in a healthy way. Being on your own again can leave your self confidence sapped, you may be anxious about the future and you may feel low. A break up needn’t be a negative time in your life, and can be seen as a period of renewal. Take a look at how you can handle a relationship breakdown in a healthy way.

Don’t Expect Friendship

If you end a relationship to expect that you and your ex-partner can morph from lovers to friends seamlessly, you will be very much mistaken. In an ideal world, you may want to maintain contact, but this can hurt too much, especially for the person who is being broken up with. You need to give one another space. Many people do not remain in contact with their exes because they want to free themselves of the shackles of a relationship. It’s crucial that you can move forward without having your ex-partner in your life. You will have learned things from your relationship that can help you grow as a person. See this as a positive thing and have fond memories of your time together.

If you share children, break ups take on another level of complexity. While you could call a child custody lawyer, you may want to try and come to an amicable understanding about visitation and parenting that doesn’t involve the courts.

Do Something For You

Breaking up with someone can be isolating and can leave you feeling lonely. Those times when you were on dates, at the movies or having dinner will now be time spent on your own. While this can come as a shock and leave you feeling low, you can also use this time to do new things for yourself. If you want to try something new, enroll in that art class you like the look of, head to the gym more often and try out the free piano lesson that’s being advertised.

You might also want to give your image an overhaul. While a bit of a relationship ending cliche, people do take the time to refresh their look as they move into a new stage of their life.

Get Away

While you won’t be running away, it’s a good idea to have some physical space between you and your ex-partner. Take some of the holiday that you are owed from work and consider traveling somewhere that you have always wanted to visit. You can head to Iceland to see the Northern Lights, do a spot of backpacking in Goa, or venture to Peru to trek the Inca Trail. Go on a solo travel adventure and immerse yourself in new cultures, try new cuisine and enjoy witnessing new vistas.

Breaking up with a partner can leave you feeling like a failure. However, it may help to see the situation as one door closing, yet another one opening, to help you maintain a positive attitude as you look to the future.

The Best Ways You Can Impress When You Want To Change Your Job

The Best Ways You Can Impress When You Want To Change Your Job

It’s nerve wrenching and exciting to attend an interview, especially when it’s a job you want. Sometimes it’s hard to contain that initial passion for what you want to be doing with your life. So if you find yourself in a situation where you are about to attend an interview then here are five ways you can impress your potential employer.

Your education and skills

Your potential employer will be interested to hear all about your education and skills. Sometimes considering graduate recruitment is a great way to boost your chances. Often the discipline it takes to become a graduate is a desirable attribute that an employer is looking for. They will be keen to hear about any skills you have necessary to the job along with any examination results you may have achieved. Make sure you let them know anything that would be beneficial to the job in hand.

Dress smart and look presentable

First impressions can be the only impression you get to make. So ensure you look presentable at your interview. A potential employer will want you to look smart and will be making assumptions based on your appearance. This will be important if the role is customer facing. It may be time to see out the luxury custom made suits and have something that fits you perfectly, but also gives you an added confidence boost. Again it would be a good idea to scope out the business before hand and get a general gist of what the dress code is like. Essentially an employer will be happy if a candidate turns up in smart attire like a work suit and shoes.

Your communication skills

It’s important to demonstrate good communication skills. So being able to sell yourself without sounding over confident will be a great demonstration of this. Communication is so important. Not only to perform a good job but to also communicate your workload with your line managers. Your communication skills are your chance to express exactly what you want to say. This might be discussing your skills and why you will fit to the job, or even asking about the employer themselves and showing an interest. Not many people enter into a conversation during an interview. But sometimes that can be the difference in expressing your personality.

Showing initiative

While it is essential to do the job you are employed to do, it’s important to show initiative. An employer will want a candidate that is willing to go the extra mile or think outside the box. So try and show initiative during the interview process. A great way would be to offer examples of what you may want to do if the job was secured by yourself.

Researching before an interview

Finally, it’s a great idea to do some research on your potential employer before you head to your interview. This will show that you have a real interest in working for them and could separate you from the rest of the potential candidates. It will also give you a greater understanding of the business before you attend. Making sure this is something you want to be considered for.

Let’s hope these tips help you to impress if you want to change your job.
