By Tia Cristy

Quickie: Remove Garlic Smell from Hands.

When chopping garlic, most people don’t wear gloves, which allows the scent of garlic to absorb into your hands. The smell can be quite potent and last for hours, no matter how frequent you wash your hands even with a scented soap.

A quick tip, that actually can remove garlic smell from hands, is by rubbing them on something that is stainless steel. Using a faucet or a tea kettle are good options, the best option is using the refrigerator door handles if you have stainless appliances. (Side Note: Don’t use utensils, you don’t want to risk hurting yourself.)

Need Ice for a Party. Quickies:

Need Ice for a Party

A lot of parties are coming up this month and next, for graduations, holidays or just welcoming the barbecue season. The thing most party throwers overlook until party day is ice. Sure, buying bags of ice isn’t too expensive, but it’s an expense you don’t need, with a little forethought.

Whether you use ice trays or you use an ice maker, spend your time, a couple of days prior to the party, filling up old shopping bags or gallon freezer bags with ice and storing them in the freezer for the “party cooler” is a great money saver.

Ice intended only for drinks should be stored in clean or sanitized gallon bags until they can be placed into ice buckets for the party day.

You will have plenty of ice if you prepare a few times a day, several days before the big event.

Remove Strong Glue from Skin

Remove Strong Glue from Skin

Problem: I was doing handy man stuff. I was working with contact cement and the glue won’t wash off my hands, I’m out of paint thinner. Any solutions?

Tip from Tia:
Rubbing alcohol works alright, if that’s all you have. But, the best solution I can tell you is, Acetone. It is along the same lines as “paint thinner”, it is actually a paint remover, found in nail polish remover.

Pour some nail polish remover into the palm of your hand and rub the glue off. Be sure to wash hands thoroughly, after use. Repeat if necessary. Like paint thinner, the smell is strong but, it will dissipate.

Open a Window to Let in Fresh Air. Stupid Tip of the Day:

Stupid Tip of the Day: Open a Window to Let in Fresh Air.

Letting in fresh air, is always a good idea, but if the air isn’t so fresh for allergy suffers, opening a window on a high pollen day, can be very a bad idea, especially on a breezy day. The pollen or molds will find their way, right through the open windows and cover an allergy suffers, breathing space.

I understand it may not be hot outside, but if the house is hot or stagnate, turn on the central air or air conditioner for a little while, with using fans to circulate the cool. About 10 to 20 minutes should be sufficient to clear the air. when the house feels balanced, shut off the air, while letting the fans continue circulation for the day.

Your sinuses will appreciate not letting the pollen and molds in your living space. Finding out what the pollen and mold counts are for the week is simple, the weather forecaster’s will inform viewers along with the weather.

Trigger Plants to Grow. Tips on Triggers:

Tips on Triggers: Trigger Plants to Grow.

Not all were born with a green thumb, so finding a little help in the garden can go a long way. A great way to trigger your plants to grow, could be using used coffee grounds.

Now, that most coffee drinkers use the k-cup, this could actually be an easier process in some ways.

Coffee grounds can get moldy so, try putting a stash of used k-cups in a bag and keeping them sealed in the fridge until you are ready to cut open the top and spread the grounds in the flower beds.

One cup would be enough for 1 section of plants. This makes measuring easy.
