Grapes Go Bad, but Raisins Don’t Go Bad. Tips in Action:

By Tia Cristy

Tips in Action: Grapes Go Bad, but Raisins Don’t Go Bad.

Raisins are dried grapes. We know that grapes can spoil, but what about raisins? If your box of raisins have been sitting in the cabinet for a long time, and they don’t have much life left, they are hard and stuck together, don’t throw them out, they’re still good.

To return life back to the raisin, boil a pot of water. Remove the pot from the burner and add the raisins and let sit for a few minutes.

The water will restore plumpness back to the dried fruit, as good as new.

By Tia Cristy

Put an unused dryer sheet in the bottom of your trash can before inserting the bag. It will help cover up those smelly discards and keep your trash can fresh.

Candle Too Small for the Candle Holder.

By Tia Cristy

Problem: Hey Tia, I got new candle holders, to hold the straight candle sticks, and the candles I bought are too small for the candle holder, to stand straight, they tilt. Why would someone make candle holders that don’t hold the candle? Anyway, is there anyway to remedy this?

Tip from Tia: I know exactly what you mean, candles are pretty standard, so, why aren’t the holders? Right? Well, depending upon how much room is in there, here’s a few tricks to try.

With a small difference, light the candle and add a few drips into the holder and quickly place candle stick in to cool and seal upright.

If there is a large amount of space using a dryer sheet folded up and placed on the bottom of the candle before you insert into the candle holder. Be care if you use the dryer sheet, not to let the candle burn down to it, they can catch fire.

If it the wax isn’t holding and the dryer sheet is too big, use a used peanut butter mini cup wrapper, (you know, the brown cupcake wrapper thing) it can usually do the job, and is more camouflaged with darker colored candles.

Can’t Put Sneakers in the Washer. Stupid Tip of the Day:

By Tia Cristy

The Answer is ‘YES’

Actually, you can put sneakers in the wash, I just think there are some ground rules in doing so, for example…

I wouldn’t recommend washing more than 2-3 pairs at a time.

Wash like colors together, unless you want your white sneakers to not be so white any more.

Prepare for the noise. Washing sneakers will be loud, so do it when you won’t be disturbed by the noise.

But Here’s some ‘Don’ts’

Don’t wash sneakers with clothes. To me, it seems to be equivalent to rolling around on the ground outside, everywhere you go. We don’t do that, usually anyway.

Don’t put sneaker in the wash alone, they’ll be fine, but your washer would probably appreciate the padding. So, put in a couple of old towels or a fabric drop cloth to brace the washer and dryer during cycles.

Don’t remove the shoe laces, and forget to wash the laces. I know from experience, the colors won’t match later.

And, for a deeper clean add a little vinegar to the wash with the detergent.

Don’t forget to wipe down the inside of the washer if shoes were pretty dirty. A quick swipe with a slightly soapy rag or vinegar soaked rag will do the trick.
