How You Can Improve Your Self-Esteem About The Way You Look

Do you avoid looking in mirrors? Or cringe at photos on social media? Do you spend ages trying to decide what to wear or always seek validations from friends and loved ones before leaving the house? If it sounds all too familiar to you then consider some of the below steps that you can take to help boost your self-esteem and feel good about the way you look.

Re-define beauty

Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder so throw away societies or the media’s definition of beauty and define beauty by your playbook. Women have been objectified in the media for decades and it has resulted in an unhealthy relationship with how society can define beauty. You alone cannot change what the media or influencers put out there, but you can choose to look away. Fill your social media accounts with people who build you up, improve your well-being, and who make you feel better about the way you look. People you can relate to. Look for beauty in the way you want to see it not the way society tells you it should be. If certain media outlets, Instagram accounts, or even friends and acquaintances make you feel bad about your appearance take steps to either remove them or distance yourself from them.

Undertake treatments for you only

There is no denying that the beauty and cosmetic industry is booming and there is a vast amount of beauty and cosmetic procedures available. Undergoing beauty or cosmetic treatments whether it be eyelash extensions or dental implants can have a really positive feel-good effect on your mood and self-esteem. After all, everyone needs a little self-care from time to time. Just be sure that any treatment or procedure you undertake is for you, to make you feel better and not to meet the expectations of anybody else, as it may not have the effect you had hoped for and thus damage your self-esteem further.

Stop comparing yourself

Chances are you compare yourself to other people all of the time without even really thinking about it. However, the negative effects of this can be damaging to your mental health, self-esteem, and sense of self-worth. By comparing yourself to others it can result in you feeling inferior whether that was the intention or not. No two people are the same and as such the act of comparison is futile and unnecessary.

Reconsider how you talk to yourself

This is a hard one and unfortunately is unlikely to happen overnight as chances are you have years of bad-mouthing yourself to overcome. However, when you look at yourself in the mirror try to talk to yourself as you would your best friend, who you know doubt treat with compassion, love, and respect. Work on being kind to yourself, focusing on the many positive attributes you possess and do not get sucked into picking out and focusing on your worst traits or insecurities.

4 Tips For The Most Relaxing Bath Ever

4 Tips For The Most Relaxing Bath Ever

As you know, it’s so important to look after yourself. You need to give yourself time to relax and just let your stress melt away. It’s easier said than done, sure, but there are simple ways you can do this. One of the most popular – and accessible – ideas is to have a relaxing bath. Let the water flow and soak yourself in there, achieving a state of relaxation you didn’t know was possible.

If you’re feeling stressed and want to look after numero uno by running a bath, here are some tips to make it the most relaxing ever:

Get the right temperature

Your bath needs to be the perfect temperature to relax, which is usually somewhere between hot and warm. It should be hot enough to make you feel very warm, which helps to relax your muscles and melt tension away. But, it shouldn’t be too hot that it’s scoldingly uncomfortable, or too cool that you start shivering.

Also, and you can call this a bonus tip, ensure the level of the water is high enough to submerge all of your body when lying down.

Set good lighting

Is it relaxing to lie in your bath with the lights on full blast? No, you’ll blind yourself and find it hard to release any tension. Likewise, you can’t bathe in darkness as it’s unsafe. Instead, you need to create the perfect atmospheric lighting. Two ideas present themselves: one is more long-term, while the other is a quick idea.

The long-term lighting idea is to get some LED lights installed in your ceiling that can change colour and brightness. Any licensed electrician in your area should be able to do this and it means you can set the lights to dim and make them a relaxing warm colour. The short-term idea is to turn your lights off and light candles around your bathroom. Either way works, and you can combine the two if you like.

Use a bath bomb or bath soak

Put something in your bath to ensure there are loads of bubbles and a lovely aroma. Bath bombs or bath soaks are both really good options here. Both of them can include ingredients that help you feel more relaxed – like lavender. It adds a new dimension to the bath and really helps you settle down.

Here’s another bonus tip: add Epsom salts to the bath for added muscle relaxation as well.

Buy a bath pillow

Lastly, get your hands on a bath pillow to prop behind your head. It is far more comfortable than lying against the plastic side of the bath! You can buy these from pretty much anywhere, and they help you lay back, relax, and enjoy your bath.

These four tips (six if you count the two bonus ones) will help you run the most relaxing bath you’ve ever experienced. Now, you can de-stress whenever you feel like it; just run a bath and lie there for 20-30 minutes, letting your whole body soak and unwind.

Abrasive Exfoliates Work Best. Stupid Tip of the Day:

By Tia Cristy

Just because you feel all those rocky granules through your fingers and on your skin, doesn’t mean that aggressive exfoliant product is working better than others. Some abrasive cleansers can leave little scratches behind, which is not good for your face since, it is subjected to so much pollution on a daily basis. That dirt can get into those tiny scratches and cause havoc on your skin.

A finer cleanser is nice, if it’s removing dead skin cells without being too harsh, but many don’t feel it’s doing the trick unless they can feel the grain.

Going with a natural exfoliant is a great way to go to get the right grain that is safe for all skin types. Salt or sugar mixed with an oil like coconut oil, is a great natural exfoliate.

Exfoliating once a week is usually a good rule. It gives the skin time to heal its wounds and generate the new layers. Massaging skin daily, is a good way to keep the face healthy.

Be sure to moisturize your skin. However, be cautious, using some moisturizers can burn after exfoliating, which can cause extra irritation.

Applying a mixture of olive oil mixed with tea tree oil after a weekly cleansing, can be healthy in unclogging pores while moisturizing and treating the skin with anti-bacterial properties. Always do a test patch on your wrist before applying to your face when using something new.
