Should You Stay, Or Should You Go?

Should You Stay, Or Should You Go?

Sadly, divorce has become a way of life for 50% of the married population today. It’s not something folks set out to do when they first exchange their wedding vows, but time can be cruel to relationships. Nevertheless, on the upside, time also has the power to heal all wounds.

Marriage has lost its shine

Just like anything in this world, if you don’t care for it, it will lose its luster. Take a silver tray for example. At first, it’s beautiful. Perfect. But after use, it can get dull and dirty. You have to clean it and polish it. It takes a bunch of effort to keep it shiny. As time marches on, even with the shine it has noticeable wear. You might not realize it at the time, but that’s part of its charm. However, you see it as aged. It’s no longer perfection. So, you put it in a cupboard. You know it’s still there, but you don’t use it. Next time you see it, it’s completely tarnished. It looks hopeless. Here’s the thing, it’s not ruined. With a little extra elbow grease, you can polish it back to gleaming. The point of this analogy… Some marriages just need a bit of elbow grease.

When’s enough, enough?

When is enough, enough? Some couples have an easy answer for that… never. But ‘never’ isn’t the choice for everyone. So when is it time to leave a marriage? Honestly, I think only couples can figure that out on their own, especially when there are kids and assets to consider. The best advice I can give on contemplating divorce is if you tried everything to make it work and it still doesn’t… Ask yourself this before making that huge decision, ‘Did I do everything I could to try and make this marriage work?’ and then answer this, ‘If I choose to walk away from this marriage, can I leave without regretting my choice?’ Some situations are much trickier when it comes to domestic violence. If that is the case, remember, there are people out there that can help.

When it’s over

Just like a death, divorce has its own period of mourning. This is common. It’s true, there are many scary roads ahead. But if the high divorce rate has taught us anything, it taught us, this too shall pass. And yes, time certainly does have a way of healing. People of divorce find they have a quicker healing process when they leave behind bitterness. It may be hard to forget the bad times, but it’s best to forgive, if only for the sole purpose of healing. Here’s a coping with divorce guide that will help you each step along the way to starting over.

How to Choose Swimwear According to Your Skin Tone

By Guest Blogger, Diana S.

How to Choose Swimwear According to Your Skin Tone

Even though it seems completely unimportant, the color of your swimsuit can really affect your overall appearance. I don’t know why, but people still tend to neglect the importance of colors of their clothes, and especially swimwear. As the most revealing garment, your swimsuit should compliment your body all the way – from your curves all the way to your skin tone, in order to make you feel confident while wearing it.

Determine your skin tone

Roughly, you can divide skin tones into two categories: cool and warm. There are three ways to determine which one is yours.

  • Take something pure white, such as a sheet of paper or a towel, and hold it under your chin under the natural light source without any makeup on. Your skin has a warm tone if it is slightly yellow hue and a cool one if the hue is slightly blue.
  • If the veins on the underside of your wrists appear blue, you have a cool skin tone, and if they appear green you have a warm skin tone.
  • If gold looks better on you, your skin tone is warm, and if silver looks better on you, your skin tone is cold.

Now, when it comes to warm skin tones, they can be dark, medium or light with golden or caramel undertones. Generally, people with this skin tone have orange, yellow, red or gold hair with brown, green or hazel eyes.

Contrary, when it comes to cool tones, they can range from very pale porcelain with no color in the cheeks all the way to darker skin that has red or pink undertones. Hair usually has hints of violet, blue or silver with blue, grey, green, black or cool brown eyes.

Light skin plus light blond/red hair

Soft colors are the best choice here, since really bold colors can show off your pale side even though they make a statement. Opt for soft greens, pinks and beiges. Black can be either a hit or a miss depending on whether your skin is more on the cooler or the warmer side. Girls with red hair and this skin tone look fabulous in white and cobalt blue.

Avoid yellow and orange.

Creamy light skin plus dark hair

I like to call this combination the Snow White combo. The best choice for you would be any shade of blue such as turquoise, navy and baby blue, as well as emerald, plum and fuchsia.

Avoid white and orange.

Medium-light skin plus brown hair

Your warm side can be accentuated with deep reds or rich earthy tones. Peachy and beige tones as well as dark ones, such as black or grey, can make you look washed out a bit, so try to avoid them.

Olive/light brown skin plus medium/dark brown hair

Oh, aren’t you lucky? From black, over blues all the way to army greens – you can rock every single color on the wheel. You can also opt for bold and colorful signature swimwear from Australia if you want to spice things up a little bit and give your skin color some more depth.

Avoid colors such as brown and grey – they are just too lifeless for you.

Caramel skin plus brown/black hair

Caramel beauties have a built-in glow which they can enhance even more or tone down with the right choice of color. If you are one of them, opt for deep oranges, warmer purples or teal if you want to point out your golden character, and if you want a little calmer vibe that still catches the eye opt for mint green or navy.

Very dark skin plus dark hair

Chocolate beauties look amazing in pastel colors such as soft pinks, baby blues, pale yellows, minty greens and light greys. However, they should avoid white, brown and orange colors.

That would be it. I think we can all agree that, even though summer is the best season of them all, a perfect and flattering swimsuit on you can make it even better.

Your Skin is Telling You Health Secrets – But Are You Listening?

Your Skin is Telling You Health Secrets – But Are You Listening?

The skin is the largest organ of your body, and it shouldn’t be surprising to hear that it can act as a vast display sign, letting you know when you have problems that affect you on the inside. The trouble is, not everyone is aware of the secret codes and language that the skin uses to let you know. In today’s guide, I’m going to go through all of the little things your skin might be trying to tell you. Hopefully, you will be able to start listening from now on.

Breakouts

A lot of people suffer from breakouts all the time, but if yours appear on an irregular basis, there is a good chance it is a sign of something else. When you are anxious or feeling stressed, the body unleashes a whole bunch of cortisol – known as the stress hormone. In turn, this can cause havoc in your body, and it goes into overdrive with all kinds of things – including producing breakouts. So, try to unwind a little – with yoga or mindfulness, perhaps –  and you should start having fewer breakouts than before.

Baggy, swollen eyes

A lot of people wake up in the morning looking like Death warmed up, but it’s not as normal as everyone makes out. In fact, it’s a sure sign that you haven’t caught enough shuteye – which could be opening up a world to all kinds of other problems, including high blood pressure, stress, and even stroke. Go to bed a little earlier, and make sure you stick to the same sleep patterns – even during the weekends.

Dark patches

Dark patches under your eyes could be down to your genetics. But again, if you only get them now and again, it might be due to malnourishment. It’s almost crazy to think that people are malnourished in this country, but it’s a lot more common than you might think. Nutrient deficiency is the result of a poor diet, and if you aren’t eating your veggies and greens on a regular basis, it’s time to make a change.

Loose skin

Loose, wrinkly skin is usually a sign of aging. You can either live with it and grow old gracefully, or head to your local cosmetic dermatologist and get a fix. However, loose, sagging skin can also be a sign of a severe underlying disease. These range from very rare conditions such as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Marfan’s Syndrome to more obvious issues like sun-related skin changes and even something like T-cell lymphoma.

Changing moles

Moles can be a sign of beauty, but you need to watch them like a hawk. Everyone is at risk from skin cancer developing, and if your moles start to change in appearance or begin bleeding, get them checked out at your doctor’s office.

As you can see, just because you can cover up problem skin with makeup, it doesn’t mean everything is OK on the inside. The good news is that most of these issues can be cleared up with a basic return to a fit and healthy lifestyle. But go and see your doctor anyway, as you never know what your skin might be trying to tell you.

8 ways to remove dandruff without washing your hair

It is reported that about 50 million Americans are diagnosed with dandruff every year. This is an alert issue as dandruff not only lead to hair damage, but it also makes you feel embarrassed and less confident in public and, it can lead to a further annoying problem like itchiness and dryness to your scalp.

It seems that removing dandruff is a lifetime’s purpose. Even though there is no exact treatment for dandruff caused by scalp psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis, it is quite easy and straightforward to control dandruff once you have realized the cause of this problem. If you have suffered from dandruff before, then you are likely to be in the situation where it is essential to control breakout. Quickly. The time shall not wait for anyone. What should you do if you have a prom, a date or an interview which can be destroyed by dandruff very easily? You understand the feeling dandruff brings right? Nervous. Embarrassed. Helpless. So, the question is what you should do when you meet this problem?

Several simple and natural home remedies can help you hide them in the urgent cases without washing hair. And you will be surprised at the outcomes they bring

Wear light-colored clothing

It seems just lovely when you have a date, a prom or an important interview, wearing light-colored dress will be one of an ideal option to let other parties know that you are dandruff-free. The likelihood of being noticed with dandruff will be very low. You can realize dandruff on the hair is because the hair is black or in other dark colors. Therefore, wearing white colored clothing will efficiently help you hide your dandruff quickly when you have something important come up.

Wear a hat, cap or scarf

Instead of wearing white clothing you might choose to wear a hat, scarf or a cap. All of them can hide your hair which means they can hide your dandruff too. No matter what you wear such as a cap, a bowler, it will assist you partially in hiding your dandruff from other people. However, sometimes it can be stranger if you wear a scarf during hot summer days.

 Wear a wig

It might not be everybody’s ideal option. However, it is still useful in some aspects. Wearing a wig can be considered as one of the safest and quickest fixes for your hair when you have dandruff. Moreover, wigs have become more and more fashionable throughout decades. Let’s try and see how natural you look like when wearing a wig.

Use a good hairbrush

Brushing your hair seems to be another excellent choice to get rid of dandruff in seconds. Not only does regular brushing can help distribute your sebum, hair oils, but it also cleans your scalp by removing dead skin cells, dirt, and buildup from the hair. There are two kinds of brushes for those who are suffering from dandruff which is highly recommended. If you have long hair, a boar bristle brush makes an excellent choice whereas thick hair will need large spacing between the bristles. On the contrary, if your hair is short, select a nylon ball tipped smaller plastic brush.

Use a scalp brush

While a boar bristle brush can clean your hair and distribute the oils on your hair, a scalp brush will be able to do the same thing to your hair. It can not only spread your sebum. However, a scalp brush can also invigorate your scalp by getting rid of flakes, buildup, and dirt.

Moisturize your scalp

There are so many things such as hair mask or some other natural home remedies to keep your hair always moisturized. In this article, we will introduce you two most outstanding ways to keep your hair still moisturized.

Shea Butter

Appears widely in both Africa and Asia, shea butter can act as a natural moisturizer as well as medication for centuries. Moreover, raw shea butter is mostly fat extracted from the shea nut – a species that is native to Africa. If your hair has dandruff and dry scalp, you should try shea butter. The butter is high in oleic acid, the excess of which can lead to an outbreak. Therefore, if you have sub derm, you should use other natural remedies rather than shea butter.

Hair mask

Instead of shea butter, you can choose hair masks to cure your dandruff as well. Once incredible thing about this is that it can significantly combat dry scalp. Including a significant amount of oil, the hair mask can help you in the control of dandruff, dry scalp as well as flaky scalp.

Restyle your hair

Similar to wearing a wig, this might not be an optimal choice for some people. However, it can still help you in some aspects. The lesser hair you have, the lesser dandruff you will have. If you do not prefer your hair being cut off, you can just restyle it. Brush it forward or pull it back is your choice.

Use a dry dandruff shampoo

The last choice is to adopt a dry shampoo which is specially formulated for those who suffer from dandruff and dry scalp. Though it is not the fastest choice, you can still expect to be significantly dandruff free in a month or less if choose the appropriate shampoo. Here are several tricks you can consider before purchasing the shampoos.

Go for a gentle and sulfate – free shampoo as strong detergents found in shampoos can lead to irritation which can allow easier invasion of microbes and many other harmful chemical irritants, perpetuating the cycle. Shampoo which brings an organic or natural certification which can guarantee freedom from other irritants. Besides, these shampoos can also bring benefits of healing and soothing effects which come from chamomile, aloe vera and antifungal tea tree.

Avoid washing your hair on a daily basis. A gentle shampoo can assist you in cleaning well and balancing sebum production without stimulating the oily scalp to produce excess oil or an over – dry one to flake more and more. Try to extend washing frequency by 3 – 4 days so that your hair can refresh in between with shampoo which contains dandruff busting herbal properties.

Apply an overnight treatment to begin your dandruff, dry and flaky scalp treatment. You can use your hairbrush to remove any loose flakes and then sparingly apply the herbal balm such as argan oil or coconut oil on the scalp. After that, use the shower cap to cover your hair and wash off your hair in the next morning to get rid of any excess balm. You can consider using Dove Anti Dandruff Shampoo which is one of the most well – known hair products for the use of salicylic acid as well as sulfur/ Salicylic acid does an excellent job in cutting down a number of fungi as it consists of antimicrobial, antiviral and antibiotics properties.
