Ear Infection with a Cold. Tips in Action:

Tips in Action: Ear Infection with a Cold

Problem: Do you have any home remedies to get rid of ear infection during cold?

Tip from Tia: Sad to say, this is becoming a common question this season. Having a cold can be bad, but adding an ear infection into the mix is down right miserable! A great home remedy to relieve the pain while treating the infection is using olive oil. Heat a spoon with warm water. Then pour a small amount of olive oil onto the spoon. Make sure it’s not too hot and drizzle into the ear. (Having a helping hand, while you lay down is easiest) Let the oil run in the canal for a few minutes. Watch your balance before getting up, and have a paper towel close by to catch what runs back out.

Then, use a heating pad throughout the day. Place it behind the infected ear. This will help with swelling and loosen and thin the mucus inside the ear.

Using over the counter medicine? Get one with an expectorant. that will help break up the blockage as well.

Get Ink Out of Vinyl Bag

Get Ink Out of Vinyl Bag

Problem: Okay Tia, how do I get pen in out of my “leather” (not real) hand bag? I’ve tried everything.

Tip from Tia: Thanks for the question. I’m going to tell you something you haven’t tried yet. I know because this works great. Pending upon how long it’s sat or how deep it is, you may see some left behind, but this will get out a bulk of it.

Mix together baking soda and water to make a thick paste. Apply it to the ink stain and rub it in so it gets in all the cracks and crevices. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes while periodically rubbing it in. Wipe down with a damp cloth or towel. The stain will be lighter if not gone. Repeat as necessary.

If residue is stubborn, scrub down with a foaming dish soap and try above method again.

By Tia Cristy

Tips on Triggers: Need to kick Start Energy.

Sometimes throughout the day we lose energy. Yet, sometimes it’s hard to even find the energy from the start of the day. A good trigger to kick start energy actually starts in the feet.

On the bottom of the foot the “top” of the arch is closest to the toes. So, from the top of the arch go to the half way point, from the top of the arch and the pinky toe.

This spot is where you will find energy. Press and rub area in a circular motion to stimulate a surge of energy to get moving.

How to stay warm on cold nights, Even in Halloween Costumes.

By Tia Cristy
A Special Tip Edition (Recap: Great Tip to Remember!)

So it’s Halloween once again, and who knows what the weather will be like. Lots of parties and functions happen the weekend before Halloween as
well, so I wanted to bring this tip to you especially today. October is always a patch of strange weather patterns. So who knows if your costume will suffice or you’ll be suffering in the cold until you walk out the door.

Lots of ladies love to take the opportunity to go sexy and wear a little less for this holiday, but sometime the weather is so bitter, a coat or sweater has to cover up the clever character because, you can’t stop the shivers. And how sexy do you feel when your shivering so bad you can’t function. And after paying a hefty price tag for that costume, just to cover it up, can real be disappointing. Men usually tend to appear okay with whatever the weather may be but kids too, have had to battle some cold nights to get that candy.

Here’s a quick tip to help keep you warm if the night isn’t so mild. Grab a cordless heat wrap from the pharmacy. They come in different sizes for a better fit. It’s a Velcro band that heats up in about 30 minutes. This can actually work for a bunch of costumes, even if your costume is tight and little, (ladies). All you have to do is get a larger size and wrap it closer to your behind; that little poof skirt should hide this warmer from being seen. The cotton strap that wraps around the body is quite comfortable. If it’s too hot against your skin put a layer (scarf or bandana) in between the wrap and your skin.

If you decide to use this on your kids make sure you definitely have a layer in between their skin and the wrap. Check their comfort regularly. You don’t want any burns. And, kids tend not to feel temperature differences as quickly as an older child or adult. There are several warnings on the package, so be sure to read all of them before using.

This is a great idea for men and women going to outdoor sporting events too. The heat wrap usually lasts up to 8 hours. So next time you’re about to go see that football game throw one on under your jersey. Being warm makes it easier to cheer.

Don’t forget it takes 30 minutes to heat up, so try it out before you leave the house to make sure the level of heat is comfortable.

Have a safe and Happy Halloween!

Before You Kick the Heat On.

By Tia Cristy

Before You Kick the Heat On.

So depending what area you are from, you may have gone from air conditioning, straight to heat with these cold snaps. But, usually before you turn on the heat, there’s a couple thing you should do to help in keeping healthy.

If you have force air, take the vents off and run the vacuum hose into the vent to get any close debris out. Start from the top floor and work your way down.

Next, check the main system, take out the filter and vacuum inside as best as you can. Be gentle, especially if you’re not familiar with the system.

Then, replace the filter with a new one, about every 30 days during the heating months. This will keep the house from getting stuffy.

If you have radiators, wipe down as best as possible. Vacuum underneath and if it’s hardwood underneath, be sure to wipe with a vinegar and water mix. Let dry fully before closing the area back up with a cover.

Be sure to bleed the radiators, to get rid of air bubbles in the system and allow it to function more efficient and quieter.

Making sure the area is clean, dust free, etc. is a good start to a healthier Winter season that will be here soon.

Lack of Sex Making You Sick?

The truth about sex is, sex can make you sick. Having multiple partners or being non-monogamous, can put you at a far great risk of catching something. “Casual” sex can cause simple things like, the common cold to far worse life-threatening illnesses, even when thinking, safety measures have been implemented. (And, we’ve already discussed the very scary numbers of 1 in 4 over the age of 14 are carriers of something STD related)

But, studies have shown that people in long-term, monogamous relationships, have actually gained many health benefits from having a good and steady sex life. Spouses that partake in sex 3 times a week ( the average sex life, of a married couple) have an increase in their immune systems by 30%.

So, using the excuse that you don’t feel well, to get out of sex with your partner, according to the study, shouldn’t work anymore. Just think, the lack of sex with your spouse could be making you sick. Having a romantic tussle with your spouse, can help make all aliments feel better, even that headache!
