Age, Beauty, And Happiness: Key Aspects Of Health To Look After In Your Thirties
While your health is important regardless of your age, there comes a point where you start to feel “your age”, whether it’s in the mornings, after you’ve eaten something your body doesn’t really agree with, or if you decide to go for a run after a long time! Health should be a priority but it’s not in your thirties; you’re busy, you’ve got a career, a marriage or a partner, or you may have children, and how you look after yourself at this crucial stage can impact the rest of your life. With this in mind, what’s the best way to ensure that you start these practices now so you feel the benefits long into the future?
Have A Good Relationship With Your Doctor
It doesn’t mean you need to book an appointment every time you have a sniffle, but your thirties is when you need to start going for screenings and tests. Whether it’s a mole scan, high blood pressure, diabetes, or even heart disease checks, it’s time to start booking these appointments. If you have a family history of a specific ailment, like high blood pressure or cancer, you need to start looking at preventing this. As well as this, it’s worth checking that everything is okay in your body, by getting blood tests just to check everything is in tip-top shape.
Learning How To Sleep Properly
It’s not a practice that you should put off anymore! While in your twenties you may have spent a lot of time burning the candle at both ends, now is the time to learn how to sleep well, with quality over quantity. Learning how to get proper sleep every night is essential, especially if you continue to wake up in the morning feeling like you haven’t slept. Sometimes there is a very logical reason; you may have been up with the children, or you feel stressed. But this is why you need to figure out how to get good quality sleep. If you don’t get enough sleep it won’t just make you feel tired, but it impacts every other area of your life and could increase your risk of illnesses and even heart disease.
Learning To Calm Down
Stress may have been something you took in your stride when you were younger, but now there are so many areas of your life that seem overwhelming, that if you’re not careful, it can age you terribly, but also put you into this heightened state of tension. Learning to calm down isn’t difficult, but what is difficult is making it a part of your daily life. Because stress is one of those major epidemics now, finding ways to relax is something that needs to be part of who you are. Much like we have to eat and sleep, we have to find time to relax. Everybody has their own ways of calming down, whether it’s through something spiritual like yoga or meditation or getting away from it all, even for 10-minutes, minimizing your stress will maximize your chances of a healthier life.
Get The Right Balance
Your thirties could be a time when everything comes together; your career, your relationships, and your life. This means that getting the balance right can be difficult. As such, if you don’t fix it, this leaves you open for a lot of stress. Spinning many plates means that you aren’t getting the benefit of what you are doing right now, but at the same time, no one is getting the best of you. Look at making significant inroads in your life, whether this is in terms of work-life balance, or understanding where you need to let things go. Striking the balance means that everybody will get the best of you but also, you will enjoy everything so much more. While you might have spent most of your twenties looking for the perfect career, it’s important to remember that it isn’t everything. Life is about that balance.
Just Eat Your Vegetables!
It’s obvious, but do you really eat plenty? Being healthy isn’t too difficult, but while everybody has their own opinion of what the healthiest practice is, whether it’s the keto diet, going vegan, or fasting, the important thing is that you listen to your body. Vegetables contain vitamins, minerals, and fiber. If you want to feel better, eat plenty of these! But also, have a little bit of what you fancy! Because we can spend a lot of time worrying about eating the wrong thing, when we should really be listening to our body reacts in the first place, this is how we can make the most of our diet. Some people have an intolerance to a specific foodstuff, and if you want to feel better, just get rid of this particular item! It’s not difficult these days, especially as everybody is on a million different diets! But naturally, you eat a little bit more in the way of vegetables, you’re going to be getting more vitamins and minerals into your body, and you will feel much better.
Don’t Neglect Your Friendships
Social health is as important as your physical and mental health. As you get older, you start to drift away from the people you grew up with, and it seems that while you make new friends, you can feel a bit sad that the remnants of your old life have turned into relics. Spending time with the people that matter isn’t just a way for you to keep in contact with close friends, but it is healthy! Feeling connected can boost your immune system, and can minimize chronic illnesses when you get older. In your thirties, being busy has a major impact on your friendships, but if you could find time to talk on the phone with them, go for a coffee, and these little, but beneficial practices, everyone will feel better.
As you get older, things can come into focus, but we can also begin to truly feel our age. Health is not just about eating well, but it’s about remembering that we need to feel happy within ourselves. We all have our own perception of happiness and as we go through our thirties, we can start to see what really matters, and also find the right practices that will set us up for the rest of our days.
