Holiday Hair. Tips in Action:

Tips in Action: Holiday Hair.

Holiday parties are a lot of prep, trying to prep the food, house etc. while getting yourself ready, may leave you feeling flush and rushed.

A good tip in action is to clean your hair the night before or early in the day. Allowing time to for your hair to settle, lose any chance of frizz or allow nice natural oils to give a shine is beneficial to helping style your do.

Going for an updo? Give yourself plenty of time to get it the way you want it. Uncleaned hair holds better than, freshly cleaned.

If you want beach waves, pull your hair up into a high twist while hair is slightly damp, after several hours of party prep, your hair will be nice and wavy when you pull down the twist.

Looking to get it straight, but need to pull it back out of your face for the time being? Use a loose cloth covered holder or fabric to tie it back. This will help from bending the hair and leaving creases. Make sure it’s been thermal protected, before you use a straightening iron or curling iron.

Quick Clean Up on Pine Needles. Quickie:

By Tia Cristy

Quickie: Quick Clean Up on Pine Needles.

It doesn’t really matter if the tree is real or artificial; it still tends to shed needles. I know from my own experience, I still find them after the decorations have been long since, put away. Why get out the vacuum for just a couple pine needles?

So, let’s say you’re about to have guests over, and you spot a mess of needles under the tree. If you don’t have a little hand held vac, try this quick tip, grab the sticky lint roller. Roll it across the area where the needles have fallen. It will pick them right up, and you’ll be ready for visitors, in no time flat.

Having Fun in the Snow with a Cast

By Tia Cristy

Having Fun in the Snow with a Cast.

So, a dear friend of mine has a child with a broken arm. The first major snow day came across the US this weekend. The sad child just wanted to play in the snow. So, I made a suggestion.

First, put a hat on the hand. Then, put a trash bag on the arm up to the shoulder, and tape loosely to secure the bag. Finally, wrestle on their jacket. If it’s too tight to get on, then, spare one of your coats. This will allow the child to get a little play time in, with the snow, without hurting the durability of the cast.

If it’s a broken leg, use the same concept with the trash bag up the leg. The hat will get wet before the cast if the bag should break. Tell your child to let you know if the hat gets wet. If desired, double up the trash bag, so no little holes will let water get in.

This a a good tip for any age that has a cast, yet needs to deal with the snow day. Remember, don’t work or play too hard for too long, the cold may cause pain in the limb later that day.

Wick Out. Tips in Action:

Tips in Action: Wick Out.

I mentioned before, a candle that still has wax, but the wick won’t light or goes right out, isn’t ready for the trash just yet. Put the almost gone candles on the stove. So, when the oven is on the scented wax residue in the jar will heat up on the stove and give a pleasant aroma to the room as if it were lit.
