Mouthwashes can have many unwanted ingredients for some like fluoride, alcohol and sugars. If you are just trying to get a clean, fresh, minty mouth without the extras, make your own mouthwash.

It’s pretty simple to do. Take a bottle of water, take a couple of sips, to allow some room at the top. Next, add in a teaspoon to 1 1/2 teaspoons of iodized table salt or sea salt. Salt will cleanse the mouth, killing bacterias and healing any wounds from bushing.

After that, add in 1/4 up to 1/2 teaspoon of peppermint extract for a fresh, minty taste as well as a calming reaction to your system.

Reapply the bottle cap and shake. Swish and gargle, but don’t swallow, just like regular mouthwash. Shake before each use.

Does not need to be refrigerated. Check with doctor, before you try this, if you have high cholesterol, do not use if you can’t have salt.

Onion helps fight the Flu. Tips in Action

Tips in Action: Onion helps fight the flu, but you don’t have to eat it.
tipsfromtia.com flu onion

You don’t have to be an onion eater for this tip, you just need to deal with the smell. The picture above is an onion that was cut in half an left in a bowl over night to absorb the germs in the room. This change in onion happened in 1 night only. Amazing.

Be sure to leave the peel on the onion but cut it in half or in quarters. Put into a bowl and leave it in the room or rooms to collect the germs. You can leave the onion out for several days even. The onion will wilt and you may even see it change colors slightly to drastically. The onion will collect germs, viruses and bacterias in the area it is placed.

DO NOT eat the onion after sitting out for even a couple hours. It will have enough germs on it that may cause sickness.

The potent smell is easy to remove once you are done, because the onion has not been cooked or ingested. Throw away the onion and clean the bowl. The air odor can be removed by lighting a candle or using an air freshener.

Tips in Action: Smoothie Your Way to Fabulous.

As you know, I am an advocate for you making your metabolism, as healthy as can be. On several occasions I’ve mentioned, eating more frequently with less of a helping throughout the day, is the positive way to go.

But, that doesn’t mean just eating junk. Adding fruits and veggies as those in between meals, which
I’ll call it your “light meal” times, are an excellent filler and amazing for your body and immune system. Adding one smoothie drink, while replacing a snack, on daily basis seems to keep the metabolism running in check and can help in maintain your goal weight.

Personally, I’m not a huge fan on fruits I like them, but sometimes I’m not in the mood for them, and some people aren’t fans of the veggies, but the best way to get both or either is throwing all your ingredients into a blender and making a smoothie. Breaking down those juices and drinking them, is so nutritious. Fruit smoothies have become my favorite.

There are tons of smoothie recipes out there, depending on what you like. But, if you would like a simple idea of a smoothie. Have your fruits and/or veggies, a favorite juice to add for a smoother consistency and if you want it frozen don’t forget your ice. Some people wish to have a little sweet with their smoothie, because it can be a bit bitter, so you can add a teaspoon of honey or agave to give it a sweetness.

You may be surprised on how refreshed and energized you feel just by adding a healthy smoothie into your diet.

Message In Bottle

Some wine bottles can be pretty, expensive or used for crafts. If you want to save your used wine bottles, but you don’t want to fill them with soap to clean them and leaving them only rinsed out can still be a smelly, sticky mess, here’s an easy way to clean and disinfect them.

Place bottle in the empty sink. Break up a denture cleaner tab, and put it in the bottle, add water and let the tab bubbles do the dirty work. Rinse the bottle and there you go; a clean fresh wine bottle.

How to Clean the Toaster. Tips in Action:

Tips in Action: How to Clean the Toaster.
tipsfromtia.com burnt

It’s quite simple, your toaster is smelling burnt or you haven’t used it in awhile, so how do you clean a toaster? Cleaning products aren’t really the way to go, they can get the electric wet, leave a residue or just make your bread taste funny.

The easiest way to clean the toaster is to first, unplug it. Over the sink or trash can, shake all the crumbs out. Plug it back in, put it to the highest setting, and push the button down. If it’s a regular toaster, let it pop up on it’s own. If it’s a toaster over put the timer on for a couple minutes. Repeat process if necessary.

It’s the same concept of the oven or grill cleaning it’s self by burning off the grime.
Don’t forget to readjust the heat setting when done, so you have wonderfully toasted bread later.
