Dealing With Anxiety During Sick Leave

When we take time off work, we may feel a little feeling of guilt, for leaving colleagues in the lurch, for not doing your work but taking time off is sometimes essential for both your mental and physical health. If you are off work for illness, you are most likely going to be spending it in bed feeling sorry for yourself and if it’s for an injury like a broken leg, it may make you feel as if you are trapped. Maybe your injury was caused by someone else, this way, you may feel a sense of anger that your life has been turned around at the hands of someone else. A personal injury lawyer could assist you in this and make you feel a little less upset about the situation but it may still pose a threat to your health in other ways from being away from your normal routine. Here are the health issues you might experience when you’re off for a long term of absence.

Depression

During a long sick leave, many people do get depressed because you are away from your normal routine and you are suddenly thrown off balance. You may start with a feeling of boredom and that there was nothing to do and nothing you can be doing in the interim. Many days you are confined to the house because your body is stopping you reaching goals and meeting new challenges. This can be incredibly difficult, and you should watch out for signs of depression when you’re off work including sleeping too much, being less active and not having much interest in other things.  If you’re in a job where it’s possible to work from home, that is OK and you should definitely try and do what you can.

Stress and strain that can lead to anxiety

Long periods of sickness can be incredibly stressful because you start to worry about things like money and paying your bills on time. Yes you may have sick pay but this may not cover you for as long as you need off work and if you struggle to pay the bills you will start to feel a certain amount of stress and strain. To avoid stress, you can try to save money in different areas and always have an emergency pot which can help. There are lots of jobs you can take on online during this period of sickness to keep your finances healthy, which won’t affect your day to day job.

Difficulty Adjusting to a new pattern

When you are off for a long period of time; you will struggle to get back to work when you do go back and the routine changes will affect sleep and anxiety levels. This in turn leads to daily issues and you never feel as if you’re truly back to your old self. Try and wake up at the same time every day and try to stay as active as possible even just a small walk.

Getting Your Confidence Back After A Disaster

It’s natural to be scared of a disaster. Accidents, injuries, extreme weather, and being the victim of crime are all varieties of catastrophe that you might encounter in your life. As you’re not expecting it, you might find it knocks you off your feet and knocks your confidence.

However, no one deserves to live in fear, and so here are some tips for you to get your confidence back after a disaster.

Lightning Doesn’t Strike Twice

If it happens once, all the following experiences will wonder if it is going to happen again, and this can be debilitating. It can affect your social life, your professional life, and even your everyday life.

You can remind yourself that lightning doesn’t strike twice, especially in the same location. This is important to remember after being mugged or attacked. You can also use your past experiences to prepare yourself better. You may have been caught off-guard before, but now you know what could happen, it’s easier to take precautions to reduce the chance of it happening again.

Have Someone With You

Taking someone with you while you are still struggling with when you need to go somewhere will help you feel safer and more confident. Someone familiar will always provide the mental safety net that you need to overcome any issue, and any decent friend will be happy to do so.

It can be challenging to face locations that bring back bad memories all by yourself and having a friend or family member with you is vital for ensuring you can manage these early experiences much more comfortably. Hopefully, you will come to handle being out by yourself, but it’s okay to need some assistance at first.

Look Your Best

If you’ve suffered an injury following an accident or even an attack, you may not look your best, and this can affect your confidence and mental wellbeing. To overcome this, think about fixing these issues, such as looking at cosmetic dentistry to repair broken or damaged teeth, or wearing makeup to cover black eyes.

In a perfect world, you wouldn’t need to do this, but looking your best can help improve how you feel about the disaster. If you’re someone who regularly holds meetings or teaches classes, it can reduce the number of questions regarding your appearance, making things more comfortable for you.

Be Thankful

Sometimes, though, your confidence cannot come from your appearance, other people, or constant reassurance. Instead, you can consider how grateful you are that the disaster was not more severe.

From sudden natural disasters or crimes that can turn fatally violent, much worse happens every day. While it’s perfectly understandable to feel bad about what happened, you are also lucky where others are not.

Striding Confidently Through Life

It can be challenging to overcome negative feelings following an accident, especially if you’ve never had anything of the sort happen to you before. However, by reminding yourself that it’s unlikely to happen again and having an excellent support network, you will soon forget all about it, and you can stride confidently through life just as you did before.

After Christmas, we can find that our bank accounts have diminished and now we are into the new year, we are probably slowing picking up again but you may never know when you might need some extra cash. It may be something as simple as needing a new part for your fridge that has stopped working or perhaps you need some Towbars to assist with your car. So here are some tips to ensure that you stay on top of your finances this year and learn to get saving:

1. Budget For Next Christmas

Start saving for even now for this coming Chrismtas. It sounds very dramatic and not necessary so early on in the year, but this will certainly be of huge benefit. This will help save money in the long run and you can do this by collect money in a little pot/fund, and let it accumulate over the months, which gives you a little bit to play around with. Look at what your bank offer in relation to offers and savings accounts which round off each penny to the nearest pound collecting it in a separate account. Over time, you could find yourself with a small amount to splash out on gifts for the people you love.

2. Go Sale Hunting

Don’t buy anything full price and go to look at all the sales, thrift stores and more because this will ensure that you don’t overspend. Be wise with the sales, and look for things you only really truly need, and this will ensure that you don’t keep tapping into funds just after the busy period. Most things can be bought on a budget and this is the best way to help save those extra pennies for when you may need them the most. Many thrift stores will also have sales too, as they will want to get rid of old stock and bring in new ones.

3. Leave It To The Professionals

Don’t let the worries of needing money get you down. It can be difficult to just forget that you have spent far too much and that you need to top your funds back up. Perhaps you have overspent on your credit card and you need to start paying back asap. Consider borrowing money and don’t fear your finances anymore.
