Natural Ways to Enhance Your Beauty

Natural Ways to Enhance Your Beauty

Beauty starts internally, there’s no doubt. However, we live in a time with resources, knowledge and technology where if you are unhappy with your physical appearance, you can change it.

If you have the financial means and a sound drive, finding a good doctor to perform surgeries like breast enhancement or procedures like laser therapy to enhance your outer appearance is a good option. Just remember to do your research on the procedure as well as the practice. It might be a quicker result than trying natural remedies, but with the pros there are cons to think of like cost, pain and recovery.

Trying to make yourself look better naturally comes at a cost too. In most cases, the results take time and patience, along with the most important factor… consistency.

And just like the saying goes, beauty is from the inside out, there’s absolute truth in that. Being internally healthy gives a healthier outward appearance.

Be sure to drink a lot of water and eat your vitamins

Drinking eight 8oz. of water on a daily basis is the minimum. Water is in everything we eat and drink. So even if you aren’t hitting the tap or bottle, you are getting some water, but the clear liquid is the best option to make sure you’re getting your daily dose. Water flushes the system. That includes the blood and organs, which when those things are in good shape so is your largest organ… your skin. Once you flush the system, you must restore it with the good stuff… minerals, vitamins and amino acids. You’ll find the best sources for all of these things in veggies and proteins like meats and fish as well as seeds and beans.

Eating the right things won’t just help reshape your figure because you’ll be treating your metabolism well, it also helps the skin look better. Eating specific foods can have bonus benefits, for example eating Fenugreek seeds frequently can stimulate breast enlargement. If you’re trying to lose a few pounds, try foods higher in B-12 to wake up a sluggish system.

Put some light in your life

We all need Vitamin D.  We can get it in a pill or by drinking some milk, but don’t forget the sun gives it to us naturally. I’m all about sunscreen, but studies have shown that we can’t collect Vitamin D from the sun while wearing sunblock. Studies recommend only spending five to ten minutes in the sun without sunblock. Now if you’re planning on spending a lot of time in the sun, you should put sunblock on a half-hour before going outside so it can soak into the skin for the full effect. Your future skin will thank you for it.

Also, another light is repairing skin damage. Red lights are being used to repair damage and stimulate collagen. These red lights can reduce red spots, tighten skin and diminish wrinkles. Skin cells shed by the thousands, so repair is possible, however consistency is key with this as well. But this kind of therapy can help you shed years.

Be Radiant

With a little effort and maintenance, you can change your outward appearance. Remember, you are beautiful. But radiance certainly comes from inside of you and imitates by how you treat others. So be radiant! Treat others well and treat yourself well and you’ll become aware of your outer beauty as a result.

Shoe Lifespan: How Often Should You Replace Them?

By Guest Blogger Sarah J.

Shoe Lifespan: How Often Should You Replace Them?

Our shoes are some of the most useful and desired possessions we own.  A good pair of running or tennis shoes is a must for every person, especially those who exercise or participate in any activity that has us on our feet for some time. When we find shoes that offer us the right support, it may be hard to say goodbye to them, but unfortunately, every pair of good shoes has a lifespan.

Why Replace?

Wearing shoes beyond their life limit can actually hurt your feet.  The lack of support is caused by the compressing of the cushioning and the shrinking of the sole from the many thousands of steps you may have taken. Shin splints and plantar fasciitis are a few of the issues that can be caused by shoes that no longer offer what you need.

Signs It’s Time

There are some obvious signs to look for if you are concerned your shoes are too worn to be used. The soles become thinner and don’t offer as much support as they once did.  The tread may be little or bare which can cause slipping hazards, and the interior of the shoe may show signs of wear, especially if you walk using one side of your foot more than the other.

If you look at your shoes and see wrinkles along the bottom or the sides of the sole, then it is time to replace them.  This means the support cushions have been broken down. Also, if the top of the shoe around the ankle has any wrinkles, dents, or appear to be worn, it may be time to look for a new pair as well.

Timeline for Shoes

Shoes do have a lifespan. Runners and athletes go through shoes much more quickly than the average person.  If your shoes display any of the signs of the damage mentioned above or if you run approximately four days per week, then you should consider replacing your shoes every six months.  It is also a good idea to invest in more than one pair so you can alternate them.

Rotating between pairs will help extend their lifespan and your wallet’s contents as well. Consider having two or more pairs ready to go.  Old shoes can also be recycled or given away if there is any life left in them. Old shoes can be used around the house as well, especially for outdoor work such as yard work.

Take Care of Your Shoes

Caring for your shoes can extend their life a bit. It is important that your shoes dry between use. Otherwise, you may get Athletes foot or a fungus. If you decide to wash them using a washing machine, let them air dry instead of using the dryer. The heat from a dryer and the constant motion can cause extra wear and a faster breakdown of the shoes.

If your insoles become flat or unsupportive, try using sole inserts which have different support points that can suit your needs. Keep in mind that if the exterior is too broken down, then the inserts won’t be useful at all.

Our beloved shoes are selected because of their comfort, size, and appearance. There are shoes for everyone, including workout gurus, athletes, avid walkers, etc. They do have a lifespan, but with some decent care and an extra pair or two, you can extend the life of your shoes.  Watch out for signs such as wrinkling or wearing of the sole and tread.  These are red flags that it may be time for a more comfortable and supportive replacement.

When Does Diet Supplementation Become Necessary?

When Does Diet Supplementation Become Necessary?

With myriads of confusing information out there regarding the use of nutrient supplements, and with a lot of different classes of multivitamins, minerals, and other uncountable types of food supplements available in food stores, it’s little wonder then that a lot of people are confused about when dietary supplement becomes necessary.

As the contemporary diet shifts more and more away from nutrient-concentrated foods such as first-class animal protein and vegetables, more and more people are suffering from nutrient deficiency.

Even when people eat more foods that are densely packed with high calories and low nutrients from quality protein and fats, they are not reliable for ensuring that the body gets all its nutrient requirements.

With an insufficient supply of nutrients in your food, you underperform, your DNA could be damaged, and you could age faster or be exposed to chronic disease conditions.

Scenarios when you need to take dietary supplements

  1. You munch up a standard modern Diet

Nearly all contemporary dairy, grains, and legumes are not suitable for consumption. They just don’t provide the required nourishment to the body.

Most of these contemporary dairy products, together with grains and legumes, have low nutrient contents and cannot be easily digested by most individuals. Grains and legumes are made up of phytic acid and other compounds that can hinder the proper absorption of nutrients and cause damage to the intestine.

Avoiding these foods is not the solution either; you could suffer from a nutrient deficiency or suffer from protracted intestinal injury, which could interfere with the proper absorption of nutrients.

Also, modern-day dairy can result in inflammation due to the presence of mycotoxins.

  1. Running down of soil nutrient

Inappropriate and reprehensible farming practices use up essential soil nutrients. When a piece of land is cultivated over and over again, it causes the soil to lose essential vitamins, minerals, and useful microorganisms quicker than they are replenished.

This leads to the ultimate loss of soil nutrients to support the growth of plants. Fertilizers are made up of just enough nutrients to sustain the growth of plants till harvest time. They don’t contain adequate nutrients to support optimal human health.

Again, a good number of plant foods are not eaten immediately they are harvested. They lie on shelves and counters for a long time before they are purchased and consumed. This reduces their nutrient quality, and when humans feed on them, they get malnourished as well.

Research evidence published in the Journal of Nutrition and Health showed that in the UK, the levels of copper in dairy products have declined to ninety percent, fifty-five percent in meat, and seventy-six percent in vegetables. Copper is an essential nutrient that controls the body’s pathway, like energy production and enhancement of brain function.

  1. Nutrient reduction in water

Eating seafood is a great way to get necessary nutrients into your body. Omega-3 and B vitamins are plentiful when eating marine life. However, not everyone is a fan of shellfish, or perhaps, they worry about the mercury content. As such, using a supplement like green lipped mussel extract can give you the benefits your body needs, especially for those who are looking for natural joint pain relief.

Some minerals in water are also depleted because of modern methods of water purification. The content of minerals in bottled water varies tremendously with that of tap water, with tap water commonly containing additional nutrients. A number of water filters eliminate essential minerals like magnesium.

  1. Diet low in calorie results in low Nutrient

Starving yourself by eating a low-calorie diet implies you are eating less micronutrients overall. The human body is structured to absorb huge amounts of nutrient-dense calories to fulfill the needs of the body. Constant diary restriction easily leads to malnutrition.

  1. Non-organic foods are made up of smaller amount of nutrients

Non-organic vegetables treated with pesticides have a reduced concentration of polyphenols than organic ones. Polyphenols help to fight against cancer. The reduction is due to the fact that the plant manufactures polyphenols to defend them against bugs and pathogens.

When they have been killed by pesticides, there would be no need for the plant to manufacture polyphenols. This results in plant food that lacks polyphenols and adversely affects the human body and the brain function when taken.

  1. Grain-fed Meat as opposed to grass fed meat

Any meat obtained from grain-fed animals contains less antioxidants, micronutrients, fatty acids, minerals, and vitamins than grass-fed meat. Feeding herbivores with grains makes them suffer from malnutrition which is transferred to humans who eat them.

  1. Contact with Toxin

Nutrients are required by the body to fight against toxin invasion. When you have more toxins in your body, you’ll require more nutrients to fight against the toxin. Supplements support the body’s ability to detoxify.

  1. Supplements needed to boost nutrient absorption among the elderly

Many scientific research shows that children require nutrients to boost growth, and the elderly require additional nutrients as a result of malabsorption.  The elderly as well tend to take more medications which can obstruct their nutrient absorption. This implies that they require additional nutrients, which makes supplementation a great idea.

  1. Going physical boost nutrient requirements

Athletes frequently consider their engagement in constant exercise to help them stay healthy and strong. They frequently rebuff supplements as unnecessary, but the truth is that engaging in massive exercise greatly exhausts your energy reserve.  Nitric oxide supplements, for instance, help in muscle building and recovery as well as improving cardiovascular health. This is something you want to have in your reach if you’re into physical activities.

Thus, you’ll require extra nutrients to produce sufficient energy and fully recover. Being at risk of suffering from nutrient deficiency implies you need dietary supplements to stay optimally healthy.

  1. A supplement is required to boost your longevity.

Although aging is a natural phenomenon, there are supplements that help to delay the aging process. So long as the supplement is effective without constituting any form of harm, taking it to boost longevity is a wise idea.

  1. To minimize cost and ensure better health

Occasionally, supplements cost less than real food. It is better to take high-quality salmon oil than to purchase salmon fish. The fish oil is higher in omega-3s than farmed salmon. Farmed salmon also contain high toxins.

Different types of food supplement

When the body is suffering from nutrient deficiency, it cripples a lot of body functions. This condition puts the body in a susceptible situation where the immune system no longer functions optimally. This will predispose you to suffering from incapacitating or never-ending illnesses.

When your body is in this state, it is highly essential you supplement with nutritional supplements to ensure that your body gets all the nutrients it requires. Remember to speak with your doctor for advice on the best possible supplement that is suitable for your present state of health.

There are a lot of different types of dietary supplements you may need to consider for your health. These include the following:

Multivitamin supplements

The majority of multivitamin supplements are made up of all or roughly thirteen vitamins and fourteen minerals. Some of them are also made up of herbs, fruit, and vegetable extracts and are normally available in the form of capsules, pills, grounded forms, or in liquid forms. Potassium is an essential mineral that most people don’t get enough of, resulting in muscle cramps; this is a typical example of a mineral that should be supplemented as much as possible.

Check to ensure that the multivitamin supplement you’re buying is made up of antioxidants that protect your body from being damaged by free radicals.

It must also contain B vitamins that’ll boost the metabolic processes, boost the function of the immune and nervous systems, assist in cell division, boost growth, ensure maintenance of healthy hair and nails, and boost energy levels.

The multivitamin must also be composed of a suitable proportion of vitamin D and calcium that’ll improve your bone health.

Dietary supplement that contains Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s)

Essential fatty acids are types of fats that the body requires for optimal function. It is referred to as good fat and cannot be manufactured by the body cells. The body, thus, needs to take a sufficient amount of them as food to function well.  Essential fats are classified into two main forms, the Omega-three and Omega-six fatty acids.

Omega-nine is as well useful to the body but is usually manufactured by the body. Hence, there is no need for supplementation.

Essential fatty acids are necessary to improve the cardiovascular and reproductive health. They also boost the immune and nervous function.

 Protein dietary supplement

Protein dietary supplement is needed by the body for building and repairing tissues. It also helps in the formation of enzymes, hormones and a lot of other chemicals needed by the body. Protein is also the base for the formation of bones, muscles, cartilage, skin, hair, nails, and blood. Just like carbohydrates, protein is a macronutrient and is required by the body in large amounts for optimal functioning.

Regulation and safety of diet supplement

However, you must be cautious of where you buy your supplement. Ensure you use a reputable and trustworthy vendor, and don’t forget to read users’ reviews before you buy. Dietary supplements are regulated by the FDA not as drugs but under a different form of food product.

Thus, the FDA treats dietary supplements as special foods and does not review dietary supplements to ensure they are safe and effective before they are sold. However, the FDA takes action against producers and marketers if the supplements they market are contaminated or contain falsified information after they have been sent to the market.

Also, the manufacturers and distributors of dietary supplements don’t need to get FDA approval before they start to sell them.

However, it is the responsibility of producers and distributors of dietary supplements to ensure that their products are safe and that their labeling depicts the true content of their product to avoid litigations after they have launched their products.

Conclusion

It is a great idea to obtain all your nutrients from natural food products. But this is practically impossible as a result of these factors we have enumerated above. These factors are also complicated with our rapidly growing stress-laden lifestyles that make it difficult to get all the vitamins and minerals required for optimal functioning of the body.

Therefore, you need food supplements to ensure you get all the required food nutrients. In fact, supplementing with high-quality vitamins, minerals, and herbs is the wisest step you can take to stay healthy.

7 Common Home Cleaning Mistake You Need to Avoid

7 Common Home Cleaning Mistake You Need to Avoid

It’s nice to come home to a house that is clean and smells nice, isn’t it?

We spend a lot of time and energy in ensuring that our tiny abode is tidy and neat at all times. We want our loved ones to come home to a cozy and inviting place. We also want to live a good impression to visitors when they come to our place.

However, are we cleaning our home right?

Below are some of the most common home cleaning mistakes that you need to avoid:

  1. Cleaning without a plan

So it’s finally weekend and cleaning your house is on the number one spot of your to-do list. Off you go with your vacuum, sponge, brushes, etc.

While it is important that you set a day on when you will do your home cleaning, it is also more important that you create a cleaning plan. Cleaning without a plan will cost you more time and effort plus your work may tend to be repetitive.

Plan which area to clean first so that you maximize your general cleaning time.

  1. Only looking at eye level

Everything looks sparkly clean so we assume that our house is already 100% germ free.

One of the most common cleaning mistakes that we have is cleaning based only on our eye level. Whilst it is important that everything should look clean and in order, there are lots of germs and bacteria that are not visible on our naked eye.

Make sure that you disinfect effectively, especially on areas that are more prone of germs and bacteria such as kitchen sink and bathroom.

  1. Not reading directions before usage

Most of us are guilty of this mistake.

We’ve been using a certain product or tool for a long time that we think we know how to use them properly. We disregard what’s written on the manuals or labels and use it according to what we think is right.

The manufacturer has spent lots of time and resources in researching their product. Get the most out of your cleaning tools by taking a few minutes to read the directions.

  1. Making use of chemical air fresheners

We want our home to smell nice and inviting so we make it a habit to constantly spray air fresheners.

Let’s be mindful though when using chemical air fresheners as it has negative effects. Some air fresheners have toxic ingredients that can be poisonous and can accumulate in our body that may lead to diseases over time.

Use natural air freshener instead such as lavender oil, rosemary, scented wood blocks and cinnamon sticks.

  1. Using wrong tools for cleaning

Brush is one of the most go-to tools that we use for cleaning. For sure, we can use it for almost everywhere.

While it is convenient to use one tool on almost all types of cleaning jobs, we should make it a point to use the correct one. This is to ensure that we get maximum cleaning result and efficiency. Surely, you can’t expect a top rated steam cleaning machine to make your bathroom immaculately clean.

  1. Cleaning windows on a scorching day

Cleaning your windows is not ideal on hot sunny days.

Why?

Because glass cleaner is easily dried up during hot days which results to streaks formed on your windows. It is ideal to clean your windows either in the evening or late in the afternoon.

  1. Using too much cleaning product

When we see a stain in our sink, it’s tempting to bombard it with lots of cleaning product. More is not actually advisable as you are just wasting the product, plus using too much will just create a build-up in the surface. Use the recommended amount in its packaging.

Now that we are aware of the cleaning mistakes that are commonly used, it’s time to remove them from our cleaning habit and get more efficient result in cleaning our home sweet home.

Tips on First-Time False Eyelashes

Tips on First-Time False Eyelashes

Everyone seems to rave about their eyelashes these days. If you were born with a set long and full, maybe all you need is a good mascara. But others are suffering from the barely there, but not brave enough to try the false lashes yet.

I personally never tired false lashes until recently. I was a ball of nerves after watching endless tutorials of women and makeup artists that have been doing since the first season of the Kardashin’s. But I curbed my fear, and gave it a go.

I’ve got two things to say

Don’t be scared.

You won’t be a pro… That takes time.

But, you will get great results if you follow these basic tips

First, I purchased my lashes from Motives size #112

You’ll need white or black adhesive to place the lash. The white color dries clear, yet the black glue looks more natural on most lashes.

Remove the lashes from the case and measure them first, to make sure they fit the eye. If they are too long, trim from the outside.

I then applied Motives Liquid Eyeliner and a light coat of Motives Mascara

While that dried, I grabbed the smooth adhesive.

Putting a large dap of glue on the back of my hand, I used the handle side of my tweezers to paint the glue onto the eyelash. The adrenaline will drive you to want to put the lash on immediately, but don’t! Wait about 20-30 seconds. Once the adhesive is tacky, they are ready to be placed.

Placement

Aim for the center above the lash line, then move outwards and inwards to the corners of the eye. Press the lashes into your real lashes with either your finger tips or tweezers. I prefer the tweezers.

After the lashes are in place, you may need to reapply the liquid eyeliner to clean up the finished look.

My first rodeo wasn’t Hollywood perfect, but I was happy with the results and received many complements on my appearance.

Oh, and don’t worry about removing false eyelashes. Using a water-wet paper towel or makeup pad, hold it on the eye for several seconds and the lash will wipe away.

Good Luck! You got this!
