Tips in Action: Clean the Microwave.

So it’s happen to the best of us, you put something in the microwave and it explodes. Whether the case is you don’t clean it up right away or it’s been happening repeatedly and now all that gunk is cemented to the inside of the microwave, it’s alright. There is a quick fix to getting that caked on food off the microwave without using chemicals.

Get a microwave safe bowl, fill it with water and place it in the microwave uncovered. Allow the water to boil for about 3 minutes on high.

Once the timer ends let it set for about 1 minute before opening the door. The steam will saturate the grime and all you need to do is wipe out with a paper towel or sponge, hardly using any elbow grease.

Remember, the bowl of water will be extremely hot, use caution when handling.

Tips on Triggers: Release Eye Strain.

After working on the computer too long or blurred vision from bright lights, has potential to effect us all. A simple trigger to help alleviate eye strain is by rubbing the outside of your leg.

To find the right location, put your fingers on your ankle and where the start of the palm touches the leg is about the right area to release the strain.

Place your fingers in that area, rub, while applying a mild amount of pressure. The eye strain should subside, fairly quickly.

Tips in Action: Reseal Frozen Veggies and Fruits.

This tip is simple. Save all the twist-ties, from the old loaf of bread. When opening a new bag of frozen vegetables or fruit and you only need a certain amount of a serving, reseal the bag with an old twist-tie. This will keep the remaining frozen, air tight till the next use.

Best Way to Clean Oven.

Best Way to Clean Oven.

Problem: Hi Tia. What is the best way you recommend to clean the oven?

Tip from Tia:

Hi, thank you for your question. The best most natural way is, letting the oven do it’s own cleaning setting. It’s better than using any chemicals and then, sticking your head in to inhale them all.

The cleaning setting on the oven is high, high temperatures, that will burn off all the grime, without causing any harm. The door should lock, either automatically or manually. (Know how to work your oven before cleaning.) The timer runs for several hours, but can be canceled usually at any time.

The hardest part of letting the oven do the work is, the smell. The smell can be yucky, depending on how dirty the oven is. Cleaning it more frequently, like seasonally, can reduce that smell.

And, another great tip while letting the oven self clean is, put an old candle that still has wax but, doesn’t burn anymore, on top of the oven. The scented wax will melt from the heat and, give a delicate aroma to help with the smell. And, on a plate or paper towel, put stale bread on the counter next to the oven. The stale bread will help absorb the odors as well.

You Can Paint Anytime. Stupid Tip of the Day:

By Tia Cristy

Stupid Tip of the Day: You Can Paint Anytime.

This week I have been painting, so all these tips have flowed to the forefront, so I figured share them with you now.

Painting can be enjoyable or a hassle to some, but either way remember painting is not good to do in high humidity or extreme heat unless you have patience. Both environments will cause long drying periods, especially when using latex or acrylic paints.

Naturally, those paints bubble and flatten during their drying process, so waiting a bit in between coats is already necessary, when weather is not cool and mild, that wait time increases.

So the best climate to paint in, is a climate that has low humidity and not blazing hot.
