B.B. Cream? Tips in Action:

By Tia Cristy

Tips in Action: B.B. Cream?

So I was asked what I thought about B.B. Cream, and the truth is, I like it. I don’t wear heavy make up, and for me, foundation can be heavy at times. So B.B. gives me all I need in one. And I like simple. Not all B.B.’s are built the same. White tea is the beneficial part of most B.B.’s. White tea protects the skin from pollutants. With the other combined ingredients you will get moisturizer, a protector, an even skin tone, coverage and usually anti-aging benefits from a good B.B.

Watch out for too many filler ingredients, going natural is best.

B.B. Cream is easy to apply. Put it on a clean face lightly. I dab it on instead of sweeping it goes right where it needs to without blocking pores. And that is my foundation for the day, I’ll use a concealer on top, if necessary. It is safe to apply foundation, blush and powder over top of it and still not have harmful effects. But overall, I can say, yes, I like it. And, my skin has thanked me for the continuous moisture and protection. The younger your skin is, greater the benefits of when you start to protect it, the healthier it will always look.

Problem:

It never
fails! I got somewhere important to go and I break a finger nail the day before. Not all the way, but  were it hurts and it’s going to hurt even worse if it rips off! I
don’t go to a nail salon to get my nails done, is there a way I can fix it myself without cutting it as low as possible, or is it a lost
cause?  Kim,

Tip from Tia:

It’s never a
lost cause. You have 3 options and it is a decision you have to make, to either let it go and cut your losses, literally, go to a nail salon to have them do their magic or try to fix
it yourself without a trip to the salon.

Fixing it yourself isn’t that difficult,
it just takes a little patience. First, you need a tea bag, super glue or a
nail glue and a plastic spoon
for application. Then of course your nail file and polish.

Cut open the tea bag and dump out the tea leaves, you won’t
need them for this process. Then, cut a rectangle to completely cover the
break. Put that aside for a second, and grab the glue. Remember if you are
using the super glue to be very careful with handling. You must line up the
broken nail to look seamless. Once you have it looking seamless, you then, put
the glue on your nail where the tea bag patch will cover completely, heaviest
being in the crack line. It’s a small area so you don’t need to be too
excessive on the glue. You will then lay the cut out of your tea bag across the
fracture line while moving it and laying it flat with the tip of the plastic
spoon. You must move quickly so the spoon or your fingers don’t get stuck to
the glue. Allow it to dry completely before doing the next step. By this point, your finger is starting to feel less pain.

After the glue
has dried you can take a nail file and buff it down to a smoother finish. Do
not be too aggressive, because you could remove the work you’ve just done. As I said patience is key in this process. Once you have
it semi smooth apply clear or bottom coats of polish to help smooth it more.
Once that is dry you may paint as desired. Remember the nail is more brittle
now, so don’t go tapping your fingers or using it the way you normally would, but
should be strong enough to get you through your important event. A quick side
note for when the patch is done, if you happen to get glue on your fingers or
when you are ready to remove the nail patch use acetone. Be sure to keep the
acetone clear from the patch until you are ready to remove it. It will break
down the glue and the tea bag and leave your natural nail with less abrasion. And with great hope, your nail grew over the couple days the patch was on and you can cut the nail down pain-free.

Painful Cuticle. Tips in Action:

By Tia Cristy

Tips in Action: Painful Cuticle

On the side of your nails, sometimes the cuticle can pull away and become painful and infected. This can happen if your nails are in a need of care. The result is painful, but treating it before an infection sets in, is very important.

When you see the cuticle frayed away from the nail, take a sterilized pair of nail clippers and cut down as close to the skin as possible, without clipping the skin. (Side Note: there maybe no need to trim the nail down, to treat the area)

Rinse with hydrogen peroxide. (it may or may not sting)

Then, apply antibiotic cream to the nail and allow it to soften and heal the cuticle. Reapply ointment if needed. Use a bandage if necessary.

Once the area is healed, it might be a good idea to visit your local manicure table. Nail techs can help get those nails back into shape. Remember above all, nail health starts on the inside. So talk with your doctor if you’re having issues with your nails. A quick change in your diet or B vitamins might just do the trick to having better nails.

Speed Dry Nail Polish. Quickie:

By Tia Cristy

Quickie: Speed Dry Nail Polish.

Taking time to pamper yourself is a great thing, all women deserve. But, what happens when you don’t have time for a full mani/pedi; you just have enough time to put a quick coat of polish on the nails. Dry time can put you behind schedule.

Here’s a quick tip to help seal the polish from nicking or smudging. Let the polish air dry for a few minutes. Then, run the nails under lightly running, cold water. Water and oil never mix, so the water will raise the oils in the polish a rinse them away. This will help reduce dry time, and nails won’t be tacky.

Stimulate Good Circulation in Face. Tips on Triggers:

by Tia Cristy

Tips on Triggers: Stimulate Good Circulation in Face.

Keeping your face youthful with good pigmentation is easier when you have good circulation in the face. Keeping good circulation, helps restore collagen and balance of skin tone. Just like any massage to your body it allows oxygen to penetrate and restore.

You don’t need to get a facial everyday to do this daily. Use your finger tips and massage in a counter-clockwise circular motion all over the face and neck. Make sure your hands are clean before working on your face. This is also a good trigger to stress relief.
