There are so many things to do when you’re moving out for the first time, and it can be hard to know where to start. Finding a Place to Live

The first step in moving out on your own is finding a place to live. If you’re looking into apartments for rent, start by searching for apartments in your price range and desired location. If you’re buying a home, begin by getting pre-approved for a mortgage and looking for homes that fit your budget. Once you’ve found a few places you like, schedule tours and decide which one is the best fit for you.

Make a List of Everything You Need to do Before You Move

This may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s important to make sure you have all your bases covered before you move out. Make a list of everything you need to do, from packing up your belongings to transferring your utilities. This will help ensure that you don’t forget anything important and that your move goes as smoothly as possible. If possible, start working on this list well in advance of your move-out date. That way, you won’t be scrambling at the last minute and can take care of everything in a calm and orderly fashion. Here are some key items that should be on your list:

Have you ever had leftover rice and tried to reheat it? It’s hard and can be quite nasty to ingest. That’s because it is dehydrated.

For some amazing reason, rice loses all its water content in the refrigerator. It has something to do with the starch molecules and them getting rearranged in the cool air. Anyhow, all is not hopeless when rice dries out. It can be brought back to life in several different ways.

When I Was A Kid

When I was a kid, I had a Koren friend that told me in her home they made a cauldron of white rice for the week. They would cool the rice, so then the rice could be left out and it would keep fresh and sticky. It wouldn’t lose hydration or go bad as long as it stayed covered properly.

I took this lesson to heart because ever since then, I have left my extra box of white rice on the counter for leftover Chinese food. However, that isn’t possible to do with pork fried rice or any other fried rice because it contains other ingredients like egg, veggies and meats.

Poultry Goes Bad Quickly

Any egg, chicken or pork that is left out for a couple of hours can go bad quickly. You should never let unfrozen or uncured meats or eggs stay at room temperature for longer than 2-3 hours. Bacteria can start in and cause some serious issues for your digestive system.

I’ve always used the mantra, ‘When in doubt, throw it out’. Some folks have stronger stomachs than others, but if you have a sensitive stomach, eating something that has been left out for over 8 hours in the heat, will put you in a lot of hurt.

So, now that you know fried rice needs to be refrigerated, how do you get it back to steamed fresh when it comes to leftovers?

Reheating Rice On the Stove

On the stovetop, it is simple to reheat rice. Put the rice in a medium saucepan. Add a nice sprinkle of water or about a 1/4 cup at most. Mix around with the dry rice and add a lid. It won’t take long to heat up, so stay nearby. Continue to stir every few minutes. Once the rice is fluffy again, you are good to go.

Reheating Rice In the Microwave

Put the rice in a microwave-safe dish. Now you can do the same and sprinkle in a little bit of water and cook for 45 seconds to a minute, but I’ve got a better idea.

Reheat Rice With an Ice Cube

Place rice in a microwave-safe bowl. Place one ice cube on top of the rice pile and put it into the microwave. Cook rice for 45 seconds to a minute on high.

Be careful when removing the bowl. It will be hot and steamy. The ice cube will be laying on top of the rice still, looking intact. However, the rice will be fluffy and tender, just like it was the first time you made it. Toss the ice cube, stir and serve.

The bonus is that it usually keeps the rice from exploding and you need to clean the microwave afterward.

If it needs more time in the microwave, use the ice cube and reheat some more.

Reheating rice is simple and delicious with this simple trick. It’s a great time saver because now you can make more rice and reheat it whenever. Plus, it’s a great trick for those who meal prep; no more crunchy rice!

Making sure you’re healthy will make it easier to enjoy the full summer, as well as the rest of the year – and there are risks that come with the hot weather.

For instance, if you’re often out and about, but neglecting staying hydrated – you’re putting your body at risk of lasting damage. So stay on top of your water intake!

Your Vitamin D Intake

Now that the sun is out more often, you’re naturally going to be getting more vitamin D into your system, and that’s great. However, if you’re not getting as much chance to, or you haven’t been spending much time in the sun earlier in the year – you should know there are consequences to that. Your body needs vitamin D to function properly, and without it, you could experience a number of different side effects. Depression isn’t uncommon, and you could even experience even more serious conditions like diabetes.

Outside of the summer, if you’re not getting enough sun exposure, you should consider taking supplements to make up for it.

Avoiding sunburn

Being out in the sun feels great, and it’s not until you get your body burned that you start to regret it. While a lot of the time sunburn isn’t anything to worry about, it’s simply just sore skin – there are times when it can pose a serious threat to your health. Severe sunburn can cause sunstroke, and even lead to skin cancer. If you’re getting out in the sun a lot this year, make sure you’re covering up or making sure to put a lot of protection on. Going out without sun cream is a very great way to ruin your summer.

Getting yourself checked

You should make sure that no matter what you’ve experienced, you always make sure to get yourself checked out from time to time. If you haven’t visited your doctor in a while, you should consider paying them a visit. You could even head down to a general hospital to make sure everything is okay. Some symptoms may not show until it’s too late, so getting a check-up from a professional can be a good way to keep serious conditions at bay.

Moderating alcohol intake

Spending more time with friends and family can lead to drinking more alcohol, it’s pretty common to share a drink with those that you’re close to. There’s nothing wrong with having a drink in the sun while getting together with family, but you should be sure that you’re not drinking too much for your body to healthily process. Even if you find it helps you to relax, you’re damaging your body by drinking too much alcohol on a daily basis, and you should monitor it if you go too far.

What is the point of life if not to have as much fun as we possibly can? Life should be a joyous thing. Yes, we all have setbacks and heartbreaks along the way, but if we aren’t also having a lot of fun, then we are missing out on the richness that is being a human being on this planet.

It is sad, then, that so many of us find it difficult to have fun. We have our moments but it seems that life is more of a drudge than anything else. If that sounds familiar, the good news is, there are lots of things you can do to have more fun in life on a more consistent basis, and below are some tips to help you do just that:

Laugh more often

There is nothing like having a good long laugh to make you feel truly glad to be alive. Sol, if you want to have more fun in life, seek out as many opportunities as you can to laugh, Whether it’s watching an episode of your favorite sitcom each night or spending more time with that one friend who always has a funny take on any situation, find the laughter and start loving your life.

Try new things

If you do the same things day after day, life gets to be pretty boring and predictable and it is hard to have as much fun as you potentially could. That is why it is a good idea to try new things as often as you can. Whether you visit a new cafe you’ve never tried before, you win free gift cards playing games at home, you take up yoga and exercise or you learn how to crochet, the more new experiences you have in life, the more potential for fun there is likely to be. It really is that simple.

Don’t take yourself too seriously

If you want to have fun, then not taking yourself too seriously is a good idea. If you cannot laugh at yourself if you make a silly mistake or if you are too afraid to try new things in case you make a mistake and look silly, your life will be more limited than it needs to be and happiness will be far more elusive for you than it is for people who can roll with the punches and laugh at themselves a bit more.

Learn to love the little things

It would be nice if life was one long vacation or one big love affair, but the fact is that a lot of life is pretty simple and uneventful. However, it does not mean that it cannot be enjoyable when nothing much is going on. In fact, if you want to have more fun in life, learning to love the little things is vital.

For example, if you can learn to take pleasure from that first cup of coffee in the morning or you can develop gratitude for the sound of birds singing as you walk to work, you are always going to be happier and have more fun than someone who has very little gratitude for life’s simple pleasures.

Let go of the negatives

If you want to have more fun in life, you need to be able to identify the things that bring you down and be brave enough to remove them from your life whether they are a toxic friendship with someone who is always negative, a job you hate, or a relationship that is not working. You only get one life to live, so make it count and make it as pleasant as possible. Don’t hold on to stuff that harms you out of fear.

Be more spontaneous

Often, you have the most fun when you are least expecting it, so if you are serious about having a better time in life, you need to embrace spontaneity. You need to be willing to wake up in the morning and head off to a completely new city to see what fun there is to be had, or you need to be able to change your plans if a cool new idea comes along that seems more fun, Standing still is rarely the way to more happiness in life – remember that.

As you can see, there are lots of things you can do to bring more fun into your life no matter who you are or what you love to do, so why not start having more fun more often from today?
