Tackling The Anxieties That Come With Covid

If you are still feeling overwhelmed or concerned about covid-19, you are not alone. If you are struggling with mental health or have other medical concerns too, it can just add to the anxieties. Whether you are anxious about your health, the health of someone you care for or are just anxious about getting back out and about, these tips should help you to overcome some of the anxieties you are feeling.

Talk About How Your Are Feeling

Yes, it is normal to feel worried, however, if you are starting to feel overwhelmed, you need to make the effort to acknowledge your feelings and talk to someone you trust, it could be a friend, a family member, a colleague, or teacher.

Get All The Facts

Now, it’s probably not going to do you any good to scour the internet for hours and hours reading everything about Covid-19 and the impact it could have on your life as the lockdown rules ease. False news can make anxieties even worst. However, staying on top of the latest happenings from the government, research any questions you may have such as ‘ does covid make dementia worse?’, and make sure you are up to date with the most reliable sources.

Know Exactly What You Can Do

If you are feeling worried or panicked by coronavirus, you should remind yourself that there are practical things you can do. Continuing to wash your hands and sanitize the surfaces in your home after visitors are just a few examples. If you start to feel overwhelmed by this, minimize the visitors you have and spread them out. This way you can keep on top of the cleaning in your home and feel less anxious when someone does visit. If you are visiting others or local areas, washing your hands, or use ant-bacterial gel to keep your hands clean and research the covid protocols that they have in place before you go.

Don’t Overexpose Yourself To The News

Staying well informed can make you feel in control however the constant news reports can also make you feel overwhelmed. Try to get any information from reputable websites only.

If you want to read or watch the news, limit the amount of time you spend doing so, and stick to regular intervals of a few days. Though you might find it difficult to not think about the news, do some activities that could take your mind off it. Try as talking to friends, watching your favorite show, or going for a walk. If things are getting too much, taking a break from social media might help. Remember you are in control of what you see on your feed, so staying away from news-related pages may also help.

You may find that you need some extra support every now and then so make sure you have a think about who you can turn to. Have you struggled with anxiety now that restrictions are lifting? What have you done that has helped? Please share some tips in the comments below.
