Back to school- few ideas to “borrow†from teenagers

Years ago you were a cheerful teenager with passion for energy and party time, and now when you’re an adult version of yourself with lovely family and comfy house, you sometimes find yourself longing for good old times of constant fun and nonchalant lifestyle. It’s not that your “totally family man†life is less interesting and enjoying, but it’s about seeing your teenage kids living the life to the fullest and you being nostalgic about the time when you looked on the world through the pink eyeglasses. Well, if this looks like something going through your head these days, it is perfect time to evoke your high school memories by trying again cool teenage adventures:

Stay young at heart

While you’re relaxing in your comfy backyard armchair, go back to the times when you and your friends had a high school rock band and every weekend was only about gathering together, playing good old rock n’ roll hits and having hilarious party time. Instead of being lethargic and dejected, why wouldn’t you give a buzz to couple of your high-school mates and suggest them re-establishing of your old rock band. Wipe the dust from your old-school guitar, agree weekend “rocking sessions†and feel how the adrenalin warms up your blood again. Even after you’ve become a parent, don’t forget to keep your inner child as well.

Well, yes, you’ll invest a bit more money into this “teen-spirited†project, but when you sit into your laid-back -style cabriolet, turn the music on and feel the breeze in your hair, you won’t regret a single penny you spent on it. Give yourself 5 minutes of high-school fame, recall irresistible teenage vibe and hit the roads, Jack!

Camp beside the lake

Gather your friends and organize relishing weekend camping beside the lake, just like you did during your high-school summer holidays, with campfire, barbequing and swimming included. It’s never late to remind your wife on how she felt in love with you, and long walks alongside the lake, lovely moments beneath stunning sunset are just perfect opportunities for that.

Brighten up your life

Instead of letting your days pass in monotony and routine, better enter more light into your life and feel the charms of afternoon sun by spending more time outside. You can let the sun embrace your living space even when you’re inside, so while considering replacing the windows with retrofit double glazing in order to get more light and refreshed ambient, think like an adult, not a teenager.

Forget about worries

Worries are only causing you to get older faster, so forget about them for a while and live just for the moment. Why wouldn’t you do the first silly thing which comes to your mind? Paragliding – why not? If you think out, it’s better to pay for adventure which will realize your dreams and bring the joy into your life, than gambling the money in the casino – although even that has certain charms, as long as you’re not overdoing it.

Even though it was said so many times before, but regardless how many years you have- remember that life is short and it’s never too late to live it to the fullest even if it means reviving your teenage self.

Run in your Stocking?

It’s happened to the best of us. A small runner in a stocking can turn into a disaster on your legs.

At the first sign of a run; apply two coats over the run, right on your skin. This will stop the run from going any further.

Here’s a quick fix to remove it, and no washing is necessary. Take a dark towel so it doesn’t leave light colored fuzzy’s behind it you best bet. Wipe the white stain aggressively and it will disappear. It it still shows a little, you may need to add a little water to the towel.

Using your towel from your recent shower seems to work the best since it has a dampness to it already.

5 Health Concerns Related Organization Procrastination. By Guest Blogger, Jennifer C.

5 Health Concerns Related Organization Procrastination
By Guest Blogger, Jennifer C.

Have you put off the spring cleaning of your garage or re-organizing your office or dorm room for a while? Are more enjoyable things distracting or pulling you from doing the more important things? If your answer is yes, you might be suffering from procrastination; and you are not alone. Procrastination is the voice in your head that’s telling you to do more pleasurable things instead of the more urgent and less pleasurable ones. Most people are guilty of procrastination at some point and in some level, but if it goes on for a while, it may begin to affect your health.

5 Procrastination Health Concerns

1. Increase your stress level

Stress is probably one of the major negative health effects of procrastination. Putting aside the important issues, such as reorganizing your home or office, and concentrating on the less important issues may give you a temporary relief but on the long run your subconscious mind will suffer the consequences. If the issue is not corrected, it can lead to a dangerous spiral and further delaying it will only worsen the stress response.

2. Negative impacts on your overall health

The direct health impact of procrastination is often via stress response that causes changes in your immune function, which in turn negatively impacts your health. For example, a study looking at procrastinating students found that procrastination lead to compromised immune system, which in turn made the students more prone to colds and flu, gastrointestinal problems, and insomnia. Stress has also been linked to diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.

3. More prone to accidents.

Organizational procrastination may lead to worsened or even dangerous work and/or living conditions. Eluding proper hygiene or safe work conditions due to procrastination can cause accidents. This is especially true for people who work in accident-prone environments (construction, workshop) or use dangerous tools (welder, chainsaw)—in these circumstances working in an unorganized, cluttered space can be unsafe and lead to serious accidents.

4. Depression

Working in an environment that is cluttered and unorganized is not only unsafe but can also reduce your motivation and work speed. This can cause guilt and anxiety, which in time can lead to depression, fatigue, and other mental health problems. When you put things off too long, you may start to find even pleasurable things to be cumbersome. As depression worsens, your body will feel fatigued and accomplishing even easier tasks may feel unbearable.

5. Becoming less health-conscious

The indirect health impact of procrastination results from stress, depression and fatigue. When your procrastination has been going on for a while you may find yourself delaying health-protective behaviors (such as healthy eating and regular exercise) and instead you are finding yourself promoting unhealthy behaviors (such as eating junk food, being a couch potato, delaying health check-ups with your doctor). In order to resolve these indirect consequences, you need to fix the underlying issue causing the procrastination, such as reorganizing or cleaning your home or office.
Procrastination is largely due to our internal struggle with self-control and our tendency to seek pleasure rather than the un-enjoyable things. Undertaking multiple unpleasing tasks or a large project all at once, may seem intimidating and eventually lead to procrastination. To prevent and/or stop this behavior, make a plan to do the task in small, well-defined parts instead of tackling it all at once. If re-organizing an entire storage facility or a room seems intimidating, start by organizing a small section of it. In between, give yourself time to do the more enjoyable activities to keep you motivated and, most importantly, healthy.

Cancer Prevention Tips

Cancer Prevention Tips

Last night, I participated in Relay for Life, to support the American Cancer Society. I was a guest bartender, slinging drinks to help the cause. I donated a Tips from Tia gift package. Along with the cool swag, some lucky winner got the following tips on how to help with cancer prevention.

Science has shown over 90% of cancers are linked to an over population to yeast in the body. Yeast and Bacteria live harmoniously in the body, but sometimes one will over populate, and you can get a bacterial infection or yeast infection. Cancer cells already live in our body, without a blood supply. Certain factors allow the cells to get a blood source to live and grow. This is what happens when one develops cancer. The best fight against cancer is prevention.

Cancer Prevention Tips

  • Maintain regular exams: Scheduling yearly exams is the best prevention to cancers. Also, self-exams are a great way to make sure nothing has changed. If you are unsure how to give a self-exam, ask your doctor for the best ways.

  • Get proper vaccinations to prevent cancers. Ask your doctor about Hepatitis B and HPV vaccinations.

  • Practice Safe Sex: Using a condom for intercourse and oral sex can reduce and prevent certain cancers.

  • Avoid over use of substances: Limit your intake to tobacco and alcohol. Over indulgence, on these substances, have been linked to causing certain cancers.

  • Limit your fat intake. Being overweight has increased chances of cancer.

  • Eat plenty of vegetables: Dark, leafy greens have shown plenty of benefits.

  • Eat strawberries. Studies have shown something in strawberries, other than, vitamin C, has abilities to fight cancer cells.

  • Get plenty of Vitamin C.

  • Add Olives into your diet. With olive oil, olives themselves or a supplement is a good source, to get olives into your diet.

  • Add Cloves into your diet. Either cooking with cloves or an essential oil and making clove water, with only 2 drops in 8 ounces of water and drinking, can help with prevention. (Caution, clove oil is extremely potent and can burn the skin; oil must be diluted with water or a carrier oil, before applying on skin or ingesting.)

  • Protect yourself from the sun. Use a high SPF. Apply 30 minutes before entering the sun, and apply repeatedly throughout the day, even on cloudy days.

  • Watch sugar intake. That means overall. Not by replacing sure with sweetners. Everything breaks down into sugar in the body. Sugar feeds yeast. If there is an over population of yeast starting in the body, the sugars you ingest will make yeast populate more.

Here’s wishing you and yours the best health! Thanks, again for your support with Relay for Life!
