Don’t Wait For Bad Weather To Reach You – Have A Plan Ahead Of Problems

Don’t Wait For Bad Weather To Reach You – Have A Plan Ahead Of Problems

There have been so many heartbreaking stories in the news lately of people losing their homes, their possessions, and their livelihoods because of terrible weather. It certainly makes us all pause for thought as we wonder how we would cope if it happened to us. Where would your kids sleep, and how would you make repairs to your property? Would you know who to call and where to go for help?

Most of us have an emergency plan in place should we be caught in a house fire. We practice our exit route and make sure the fire alarms are working. But what do you do after the fire is out? The same applies to flooding, tornadoes, and hurricanes. Few of us have a plan of action should our home be uninhabitable. Here’s how to make sure you and your family are cared for if disaster strikes:

Phone

Not everybody knows their own number. It’s important that you do this because if you need to leave it behind, you need a replacement quickly. Most of our data, like the contact details of loved ones, are stored in the cloud. Even if your phone is destroyed, you can retrieve the data and get hold of the people best suited to help you. Memorize passwords to social media accounts like Facebook. This will be the first place loved ones will look for you. Most of us have instant alerts to activity on these accounts too.

Insurance

Lots of us have got into the habit of shopping around for our insurance every year to make sure we have the best deal. The problem with this is we can forget who our current insurer is! Make sure you always have a photo of the document or an emailed copy of any insurance policy. These will also be in the cloud waiting for you to log in from your new device. You can then contact your insurer to make a claim.

When it comes to building insurance, some companies won’t pay out for ‘Acts of God’. However, they’re not all heartless! Most insurance companies will provide immediate help and sort out a hotel and other provisions should you become homeless. Double-check your coverage next time you take out a policy.

Now, as for your vehicle, car insurance policies may cover specific damages. This is worth looking into if, for example, you reside in an area that often gets hit with bouts of extreme weather, such as hailstorms. In cases such as this, it would be worth taking out insurance with a reputable company such as Hail Specialists who will be able to help you with the claims process and have your car looking practically brand new and back on the road again in no time!

Cash

If your bank cards and cash are lost, you need to know how to get hold of your bank to give you quick access to money. You might need to pay for a hotel or buy your family a couple of meals. You might even need clothes and footwear. Fortunately, Twitter can help here. Search for your bank, and chances are you’ll find a live operator ready to tweet back a phone number you can call to get help. Never give your account details or full name on Twitter.

Shelter

When there has been a huge-scale disaster like the ones we’ve seen on the news lately, you need to find shelter. If there is time, pack the essentials like clothes, medicines, weatherproofs, food, and water. The emergency response teams will direct you to a local shelter and may assist you with getting there.

Of course, if you are already packed to go, you can get out quicker. Why not keep a packed wheelie case or backpack with photocopies of your most important documents? You can add a fresh set of clothes for each member of the family, a couple of days of your meds, and some other essentials for an emergency. Wrap them all up in a plastic bag inside in case you need to wade through floodwater.

Return

When you have the OK to go back, you need to start finding the best people to tackle the damage. Start with insurance-approved companies like ServiceMaster that can get rid of all the hazardous materials in your home. Repairs can take time, so you need to assess if any part of your home is safe enough to be habitable. If not, hire a caravan or book a long-term hotel.

You might have secured some of your property during the course of the year. Summer and winter maintenance checks help you keep your house in good condition. When you look after your property routinely, you can help minimize the damage that might occur during a storm. Clearing gutters, vents, and drains can help prevent problems from occurring in the first place.

We all hope nothing bad ever happens. But if you have a clear and concise plan in place, you’ll be able to cope should the worst happen. Take care.

Confidence Is Key: Addressing Your Causes Of Low Self-Esteem

Confidence Is Key: Addressing Your Causes Of Low Self-Esteem

Sadly, I encounter too many girls that grow up with low self-esteem issues. This doesn’t mean they hate everything about themselves and wish they looked entirely different. It can mean there are a couple of things that really get them down and they pray they can change. When you think like this, you lose confidence in yourself. It can make you not want to go out as much as you don’t like the way you look.

Confidence is the key to living a happy and fulfilling life, so it’s time you got yours back! I’ve listed some of the main causes of low self-esteem, with some tips on how to address them for good.

Your Eyebrows

I remember the days when almost nobody cared about their eyebrows. Nowadays, they’re a crucial part of everyone’s look. If you’re born with really light eyebrows, it can be torture for you as it looks like you have none. Likewise, some people have really bushy eyebrows or ones in bad shape – there are loads of possibilities. Fixing an eyebrow issue can vary depending on how bad it is. For poorly shaped ones, it’s just a case of plucking and adjusting the style. You can draw on eyebrows if they’re too light, or get a permanent eyebrow tattoo. If you have a little click here, you can see a whole article I wrote about one type of eyebrow treatment called a Brow Lift. Check it out if you’re conscious of your brows and want to improve the way they look.

Your Body

This is a very vague point because there are so many elements of your body that cause self-esteem issues. Some people wish they weren’t so heavy, and think they’re fat. Others want to have a bigger bum or more toned legs. There are plenty of girls that want bigger breasts or slimmer arms. Most of, if not all, of these problems, can be solved with a healthy diet and exercise. Plus, as seen on Top9Rated, you can get natural breast enhancement products too. Whatever your body problems may be, there’s always a way to fix them and make you feel more confident when you’re stood naked in front of a mirror.

Your Hair

Your hair is another part of you that causes most low self-esteem issues. We want a thick head of healthy hair, but sometimes that’s not what we have. Thankfully, dealing with this issue is very easy. There are lots of natural hair treatments you can try, such as using coconut oil to condition your hair. You could also take vitamins like biotin to help strengthen your hair and make it look better too.

No matter what issues you have with the way you look, there are always ways to address them. Stop being so negative about your appearance, focus on the things you like about yourself, and improve the things you dislike. This will make you more confident, and you’ll feel so great for once. You’ll walk down the street with this newfound confidence, and it makes you feel elated.

Common Myths of Aging Revealed

Common Myths of Aging Revealed

One of the facts of life is that we are all getting older. Whether we like to admit it or not, it is happening to all of us. But how we deal with it, as well as how we cope can be completely personal. Sometimes the challenge can be the number of transitions that we have to go through all at once. That can take its toll on us and affect how we see ourselves and how we feel. Declining health, changes in family life, and perhaps even a loss of independence can all occur as we begin the aging process.

Anxiety is also something that can make the aging process worse. We can worry about what might happen to us or to family members. We might worry about their health or situation, just as much as our own. Will we lose our mind? Will we end up in a wheelchair? It can go from one extreme to the other. So here are some myths about aging to set the record straight. You don’t want to make things worse for yourself by stressing about getting older and all that it brings.

image

Dementia is Inevitable

Myth number one is that dementia is inevitable as we get older. Many medical professionals will tell us just how we should treat dementia if it does happen to us or to our loved ones. While it isn’t inevitable, it can happen. But it should be treated as a regular medical condition. Don’t just dismiss it as a normal part of aging, if it happens to you or someone around you. If someone around you becomes forgetful, then it could be because of a nutritional reason, due to medication, or because of a medical condition. Seek the help you or they need in order to deal with it and help it. It doesn’t, and shouldn’t have to be a fact of life as we age.

You Can No Longer Have Children

Myth number two is that you can not have children as you get older. I mean, this can be a myth up until a certain point, as our bodies will stop us being able to carry children eventually. But people are still having children into their late forties these days. Naturally, women are getting older as they are having children. But it doesn’t mean that you can’t have them if you are over thirty, does it? As long as you are living a healthy lifestyle, regularly exercise, and maintain a healthy weight, there shouldn’t be any reason to not have children as you get a bit older. Nature will let you know when you can no longer have children naturally. But these days, with fertility technology and things like egg freezing, it is allowing more and more couples, including same-sex couples, to be able to have children. So if you are a bit older and may not be able to physically carry a baby, there are still options.

You Can’t Exercise In Your Fifties if You Didn’t Before Now

Many people think that as they get older, they can’t exercise, especially if they never had a regular routine in place before then. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. There is always a good time to exercise, and that is whenever you want to! If you haven’t done so for a long time, then you might find it hard, so you’ll need to build up your fitness and strength gradually. But in order to defy the signs of aging, to feel fit, and build up your strength, there has never been a better time to start exercising. So don’t believe this myth at all!

Sex Stops as You Age

In a survey of over three thousand people, all aged over 57, it found that their sexual activity depended on their health or their partner’s health, rather than their age. Those that reported their health as excellent or very good, were eighty percent more likely to be sexually active than those that reported their health as poor. So really, what this myth comes down to, is how you feel in yourself. It can stop if you want it to. It can carry on if you want it to. If you feel well and your partner does, then there is no reason why you can’t still be sexually active as you get older.

image

You’ll Get Depressed As You Age

Younger people, perhaps even you though this when you were younger, that getting old is depressing. So because it is depressing, you are going to get depressed. But at the end of the day, depression is a mental health issue. People with clinical depression can be quite positive individuals. Likewise, someone that is quite negative, doesn’t have to be clinically depressed. So it is dependent on the individual. If you or someone around you is starting to show signs of depression, such as isolation, negative thoughts, weight loss or weight gain, then depression is treatable. So getting help is important if you think that this is the case.

Pain and Arthritis Are Inevitable

The final myth about aging is that you are bound to be in pain as you get older and will certainly get arthritis. While the latter can be common as we get older, it is simply due to wear and tear on the cartilage in our joints, not simply because we are older. Plus, there are plenty of things that you can be doing now to help reduce your chances of getting arthritis. Being a healthy weight, wearing supportive footwear, and reducing how much we do impact exercises like basketball or running. Exercising is a good way to avoid pain and arthritis, as it helps to build your muscles up. If you’re not used to exercise and take a fall, it will hurt much more than if you’re fit and can stop yourself from falling, for example.

So although aging is inevitable, it doesn’t have to have a negative impact on our lives. We can still get to do the things we are doing now and enjoy our life as we get older.

Chivalry Isn’t Dead

Chivalry Isn’t Dead

Most people believe that chivalry is dead. Men nowadays are portrayed as being emotionless beings who aren’t gentlemen. Long gone are the days where you’d meet at a dance, and be walked home afterwards if the man took a fancy to you. It wasn’t as easy to keep in touch back when people think true romance blossomed, so meeting up and talking was always an exciting questions. Nowadays, girls get taken out for a meal, and sometimes are left waiting for a text back that never arrives. But this isn’t true for all men, some men out there are still as much of a gentleman as back in the day. Simple little things that we take for granted in our society, but really show that chivalry isn’t dead.

The dates that they take you out on are always thought through and planned, to make sure you have a good night. They’ll take you out somewhere nice and pay for everything to make sure you have a good night. People think this is the norm, that men should pay for everything. But it really is an act of absolutely kindness and love. Being treated to a meal, or a night out makes a girl feel so special and wanted. Men shouldn’t have to pay for everything, but they choose to purely as it’s the manly thing to do.

Buying you cute gifts to make you happy is another reason why chivalry is alive and well. If you’re feeling down, they’ll be the one’s to cheer you up with your favourite food. Or even randomly, they’ll surprise you with a gift to show how much they care. They don’t expect anything in return other than to see you happy. Even simple little things like saying good morning, or goodnight, and wishing you a good day is another way of them showing their appreciation for you. Knowing you’re their first, and last thought of the day really does make you feel special.

One big thing all guys have the task of doing is proposing. Nothing show chivalry quite like this. They have to go through the nerves of asking your father for their blessing. They have to plan it all precisely so that it’ll be perfect for you. They think of ways to say how much they love you. They also have to pick out a gorgeous ring, such as the tacori engagement rings here. They need to make sure it’s the perfect fit, style and colour for you. So much thought and attention goes into this to make sure you feel perfect on the day.

Even little things like just being an ear for her to talk to. You’ll have so many issues going on in your life, and no one can listen and reassure you quite like your partner can. They’ll listen to all your worries with an open mind, and support you no matter what. They’ll be a shoulder to cry on when you need it, and will always make everything seem better.

Surviving Stressful Family Situations With Your Health In Tact

Surviving Stressful Family Situations With Your Health In Tact

No matter how loving and peaceful your family is most of the time, there will always be occasions when things are a little less than perfect. This can happen for a number of reasons. Even the closest family unit will occasionally have the need to argue, even if it is only to ultimately lead to resolution. But there are certain situations which are often particularly stressful, and one of the central concerns during those times is your own health. As long as you are able to remain focused on your health – and the health of your family – you should come out the other side in a positive light.

Know The Stressors

For any relationship – whether it is between two people, or all the members of a family – there are going to be specific triggers for stress. This are usually related to points of tension between the parties involved, and sometimes they can be more or less the same kind of stressor for years on end if there is no resolution. It is a great first step to come to know the stressors that routinely set off arguments and worries in your family, as with that knowledge you are much better armed to deal with those stressful situations when they arise. Knowing the stressors enables you to catch the moment early on, which often means a swifter, more peaceful resolution, and a lot less stress for your body and mind.

Allow Space

Whatever the problem is, sometimes the single best thing you can do for your health is to allow space between you and your warring partner. When you do this, you essentially provide room for both of you to recover a little, and that is always an important step to take. Even if you are going through a divorce uncontested or something of equal significance, often moving away from one another for a few moments – or hours, or days – is the best thing to do. All relationships need their periods of proximity and their periods of release – you’ve got to respect the latter on equal par with the former if you want your relationships to have balance, and so limit the amount of damage that is caused to your health.

Take The Holistic Route

Sometimes it is so easy to get bogged down in the details of the problem itself that you end up ignoring your own basic healthcare needs. A wise move is to make the conscious effort to continue to look after your own health even as you argue or struggle with your family members. Continue to exercise, eat right and get all the sleep that you need – and encourage your family to do the same. If you manage to do this, you will be able to approach the situation with a fresher attitude, and you will also find that you manage to retain your health throughout the experience.

By remaining mindful of what is really going on, you can approach these situations more bravely, and in a much healthier manner.
