Tips in Action: If That Diamond Ring, Don’t Shine.
Wedding ring

If a diamond looses it’s shine, get it back quickly. Use paste, not gel, toothpaste on the stone only, and rinse off completely and dry with a towel.

Toothpaste is not good on the metal, so try to get it on the stone only. It works on other stones too, but diamonds will really show a sparkle.

When spending a large amount of money on a home security system, it is always important to make certain that the security system you purchase does everything you need it to do. When your security system is providing you with a high level of monitoring capabilities, the system makes it easy for you to know precisely what is going on around your home from any location. Here are five secrets to help you get the most out of your security system.

Improve the Use of Security Cameras

Camera placement can sometimes be tricky. This is especially true when you have a rather limited number of security cameras to work with and have to cover a large area. To get more out of your cameras, you must take the time to hook them up to rotators to give you a wider range of view. Adjusting their height will also give you an increase in viewing coverage. This is important when you are viewing your property and house by remote access from a smart device. You want the maximum field of view as you can possibly obtain from your equipment.

Recent advances in home security technology has also opened up the ability to remotely control and view security cameras from a smartphone, tablet or PC. This added feature allows more flexibility than ever to control your security system from a distance.

Look More Secure

If you cannot afford a lot of costly security cameras, then it is certainly okay to put up a few fake cameras. A burglar will most likely not be able to tell the difference from afar. Fake cameras with a flashing red light will make a potential intruder think twice. Sometimes giving the impression that your home is being more heavily monitored than it really is can be enough of a deterrent to most criminals.

Using Timers to Turn Things on When You Are Not Home

According to Lifehacker.com, one of the ways to enhance your home security system is to give the impression that someone is home by setting a timer to turn on a television. This is an important tool during the times of day when break-ins occur most often. The idea is to keep a potential intruder on their toes with a little misinformation of your own.

Use Hybrid Motion Sensors

Hybrid motion sensors detect motion using more than one detection method. More than a single detection method tends to ensure that there will not be any false readings. With this increased level of accuracy, it will be much harder for an intruder to bypass your security measures.

Call a Professional Security Company for Help

If you really want the inside scoop on some of the best security secrets in the industry, then it would be smart to research using sources like NorthStar home security reviews and those of competitors. You may come up with many clever ideas on your own, but a professional who deals with security systems every day will tend to know all the secrets and tricks behind effective home security system setup and maintenance.

When it comes to the secrets behind setting up your home security system to get the best results, it is important to recognize that every situation is different. With a little research and thought, you will be able to figure out some of the most innovative methods for maximizing the proper use of your home security system. This will help to ensure that you keep the intruders out of your home, and keep your family safe and secure in the process.

Tips in Action: Make Your Own Mouthwash.
tongue out

Mouthwashes can have many unwanted ingredients for some like fluoride, alcohol and sugars. If you are just trying to get a clean, fresh, minty mouth without the extras, make your own mouthwash.

It’s pretty simple to do. Take a bottle of water, take a couple of sips, to allow some room at the top. Next, add in a teaspoon to 1 1/2 teaspoons of iodized table salt or sea salt. Salt will cleanse the mouth, killing bacterias and healing any wounds from bushing.

After that, add in 1/4 up to 1/2 teaspoon of peppermint extract for a fresh, minty taste as well as a calming reaction to your system.

Reapply the bottle cap and shake. Swish and gargle, but don’t swallow, just like regular mouthwash. Shake before each use.

Does not need to be refrigerated. Check with doctor, before you try this, if you have high cholesterol, do not use if you can’t have salt.

Quickie: Keep the Sheets Clean.

Unmade Bed

Alright, some people have got it down pat on a weekly basis to change the bed linens. Others, especially the younger ones; tend to see how long they can go without washing the sheets.

But, when is the time allotted in changing bed sheets?

Studies show that changing the sheets every 2 weeks can be tolerated, as long as you weren’t sick during that time period.

If you fall ill, change the sheets once you start feeling better and again, after you are completely healed. This will help prevent reinfecting you and your bed mate.

Considering the cost of a new dishwasher, it’s in the best interests of consumers to take care of their kitchen hardware. While it’s true that modern dishwashers don’t require much in the way of upkeep, their life cycles can be significantly shortened through negligence. If you want your latest dishwasher to go the distance, these quick tips are for you.

Optimize the PH of Your Water

It’s no secret that hard water can do a number on pipes and fixtures over time. People tend to forget that it can also severely damage appliances like dishwashers. Test your tap water for excessive mineral content and soften it if need be so that it has a pH of roughly 7.

Run at the Right Temperature

Another little known fact about dishwashers is that they require hot rather than warm water to operate correctly. That’s because water that isn’t at least 120 degrees Fahrenheit will promote the development of detergent deposits in places where you don’t want them. Check your temperatures and adjust the hot water heater as needed.

Use the Right Kind of Detergent

When selecting a detergent, avoid gels and go with good old-fashioned powder. Look for something that doesn’t contain chlorine bleach. It’s also a smart idea to avoid “rinse aid” additives. Last but not least, keep a supply of fresh detergent on hand that hasn’t been sitting around for a long time and store it in a dry place.

Clean those Filters Regularly

If you want your dishwasher to run trouble-free for years, regularly clean any filters and traps that you see. In addition, occasionally check and clean the spray arm holes to remove any detergent deposits that have accumulated. For more involved repairs and maintenance, go with a qualified repair shop such as Atlas Appliances Ltd.

Load It Full, Load It Right

Last but not least, only run your dishwasher when you have enough dirty dishes to fill it up entirely. When loading, place heavier items on the bottom. It’s also wise to use a dryer rack rather than the automated dry cycle, which just wastes electricity and prematurely burns out the heating element.

A Penny Saved Is a Penny Earned

If you adhere to the guidelines detailed above, your dishwasher will last a whole lot longer. The savings on repairs can run into the hundreds depending on the specific make and model in question. A little preventative maintenance and a few simple habits will ensure that your appliance delivers outstanding ROI.
