Seek the Standard of Health You Deserve

Seek the Standard of Health You Deserve

Everybody deserves to be able to live their life day in, day out without having to be troubled by their health — and that includes you. You shouldn’t have to put up with niggling health issues holding you back. You shouldn’t stand for issues regarding your health stopping you do the things in life that you enjoy. It’s time you stood up against them. Below you can find some of the most general health issues that try to hold us, as humans, back, as well as some advice on how to combat them.

The medical advances of today mean that all health issues can be combatted; whether it means treating them fully or making them healthily manageable. So, there is no excuse for you to not put the treatment of your niggling health issues into the hands of a health-giving professional. And there is no excuse to not seek treatment for these issues, no matter how innocuous, risk free or ‘common’ you may deem them. One such issue that could be construed in this manner is IBS, as well as other stomach related plights. Stomach cramps, bloating and constipation are all too common plights that us humans have to face, and they are a nuisance. However, if you suffer from these plights then you should know that you don’t have to suffer with them any longer. You can combat them by seeking relief. You just have to be astute enough to admit you have a problem, and you have to get past any feelings of embarrassment that you may feel in having them treated.

But it’s not just the health related issues that cause you to feel uncomfortable or feelings of physical pain that you should combat. No, you should also combat those that stop you from living the standard of life you deserve. Generally, these will be health instances that relate to your senses. These will be instances such as hay-fever, poor eyesight and even poor hearing. These instances of bad health may not cause you to feel pain, but they can cause you to miss out on living a life you deem to be ‘normal’. So, despite how innocuous you may deem them because they don’t cause you pain, and no matter what anybody may say, you get them sorted. You can get the latter, the plight that is poor hearing, sorted by attaining affordable hearing aids. Why should you have to settle for having the volume on your TV loud? Why should you have to settle for having to constantly ask people to repeat themselves? The answer is, you shouldn’t. So, take action today against your health plights, regardless of if they cause you physical pain, or not.

Nothing should stand in the way of you staying healthy. Nothing should stand in the way of you attaining the standard of both health and life that you deserve. But nobody else is going to fight your health battles for you. No, it’s down to you fight them and it’s down to you to not stand for them any longer.

How To Baby Proof Your Home

How To Baby Proof Your Home

Flickr

So you’ve got a baby on the way? – Congratulations! This is such an exciting time in your life right now, and you should enjoy every single step of the way.

One thing that will need to be done though is baby proofing your home. Babies are tiny, and everything will feel like a possible danger towards your baby, and this will scare you to death. But you shouldn’t worry, there are simple things that you can do to ensure the safety of your little one – allowing you to relax a whole lot when he or she finally arrives.

Here’s how.

Safety precautions

First, you should think about how safe your house is in general. It starts with the safety precautions like making sure you have smoke detectors and a carbon monoxide detector – people forget about this, but it’s so important as this is a silent killer. Unless you have a carbon-monoxide detector, you will never know. These should be on each floor of your home.

You should have a fire extinguisher in your kitchen, the water heater shouldn’t be any higher than 120 degrees, and you will want to cover all the electrical outlets with plastic caps.

Pick up what you can, and then vacuum away what you can’t. Babies will grab everything, and the first place it’s going to go is in their mouth, so you’re going to want to look at the best vacuum cleaners to suck up anything nasty.

Also, if you different levels to your house, install safety gates at the top and bottom of the stairs so your baby can’t get up or down.

The kitchen

This is probably one of the most important areas in the house because there are tons of hot things in there, and you can easily get distracted while cooking – even if you turn your back for just a moment.

Look at what’s inside your low cabinets and drawers. Most people tend to keep their cleaning products at the bottom, so if that’s the case, you’ll want to move everything to somewhere out of reach. Remove anything that’s sharp, and also any plastic bags as these can be a suffocation hazard.

Remember that once your baby can climb, they will be able to be in reach of the top cabinets and even the work surfaces, so you may want to invest in some stove-knob covers which will prevent your child from turning on any burners.

If you keep your pills and vitamins in the kitchen, make sure they are impossible for your little one to get a hold of. If your child does see them, they will most likely give them a try – they look like candy! Why wouldn’t they put them in their mouth?

Even the innocent things like magnets on your fridge from your holiday last year, may seem like a lovely souvenir, but unfortunately are the perfect thing for your baby to choke on. So put them somewhere safe and out of reach.

The living room

Cushioned corners will become your new best friend. You can put there on all the corners and edges that are exposed. This means any tables, shelves, and hearths. If your baby does topple over, they won’t be met with a hard pointy edge; instead, it’ll be a squidgy landing.

Don’t leave the risk of things from falling over; this means any bookcases or cabinets you have, mount them to the wall and secure the tv to whatever it’s sitting on.

You should also move anything away from your windows that your child could climb up – especially if you keep your windows open in the summertime. And if you have any blinds or curtains with cords – get rid of them. Your baby can get caught in the string and get it around their neck.

In general, anything you don’t want your baby touching or playing with should just be moved and put somewhere safe.

The bathroom

Don’t ever leave your child alone in the bathroom. It’s a simple as that, and even more importantly – if you have a bathtub, never ever turn your back on them – even if it’s just for a second. Babies can drown in just a couple inches of water, so always be on the ball. If the phone rings or the door knocks, bring your baby with you.

Move any cleaning products and put them somewhere else, as well as any electrical appliances like your hair dryer. And don’t leave any razors lying around the sink!

The baby’s room

It’s likely that you have already sorted out the baby’s room first, but if you haven’t, there are some areas that you should focus on.

If you’ve bought a brand new crib, then it should be absolutely fine, but if you’ve been given a second-hand crib, it’s wise to check it out properly to make sure it is up to standard.

That means making sure it’s stable, and nothing wobbles, and if there are bars on the crib, nothing can be pulled off.

When your child is under the age of 6 months, don’t put any cuddling toys, pillows and loose blankets in the crib. This is because they are still so vulnerable; they can easily suffocate on things like this if they cover their face as they sleep. So keep these for when they’re toddlers instead.

Make sure you have thick, soft carpet or rugs on the floor to cushion any falls your little one will have, and make sure there are no sharp edges or corners, (like you did for the living room.)

As long as you have some common sense, you shouldn’t worry about anything. There’s a lot to think about when you’re a new parent; it’s very daunting, and you are bound to feel pressure to do everything perfectly, but we all make mistakes. If your baby has a fall, don’t beat yourself up about it – as much as you’d like to wrap them up in bubble wrap – that’s just not realistic.

You are going to be an amazing Mom, don’t worry.

How To Clean Your House – The Proper Way

How To Clean Your House – The Proper Way

Image

So you’ve just had that dreaded realization that you should probably give your whole house a clean. You’ve been trying to put it off for days now, even weeks, but the dirt is just building up, and it’s about time you do something about it.

Well not to worry, it doesn’t have to be as horrible as you imagine it to be! And once it’s all done, you should never need to do a clean like that ever again!

Important preparations

First of all, you’re going to want to make sure you have everything you need. You don’t want to get halfway through, only to realize you need some sponges or any other cleaning products. You can avoid this from happening by making a list first, a few days before, so you have time to go out and get exactly what you need.

Get ready mentally and physically

Before you get down and dirty, you should get yourself ready. This means changing into something comfortable, that you don’t mind getting grubby. Remember you will be dealing with different chemicals, so don’t wear anything that you’ll be upset about getting permanently stained.

As silly as it may sound, you may also want to have a little stretch. Don’t forget how demanding cleaning actually is on your body. It is absolutely a workout, so don’t risk causing yourself an injury.

Lastly, but definitely not least – music! Put on some of your best tunes and crank up that volume. Tie back your hair, get your rubber gloves on, have a dance and then get stuck in.

De-clutter

Pick up anything that’s lying around, and put it where it belongs. By all means, question whether you really need to keep the item or not. The more you throw away, the less mess you’ll have altogether. Walk around your house with a big dustbin bag, and anything you don’t need – throw it.

You can also make a pile of things that you don’t want, but you’d like to sell or give away to somebody else. Recycling is brilliant, and although it may feel like an effort – you’re doing the right thing.

Dust

You would be surprised by the amount of dust that gathers around, so don’t take the easy option and overlook certain areas. As well as surfaces, shelves, and tables, look wherever you have books and magazines stored – It sticks to everything so don’t miss it.

Microfiber cloths are great for this as they pick up everything very easily, whereas other things may just push the dust around, giving the appearance of a cleaner surface, although really the dust has just been moved somewhere else.

Remember the tops of the of your doors and around the photo frames too! Sure, they may not be visible, but you know what’s there, so it kind of works as a peace of mind thing.

Vacuum

Before you start vacuuming, check your bag and make sure that it’s empty, so you don’t have to keep stopping. And use the right attachment for the right things! So many people end up using the carpet brush for their wooden floor, without even realizing it, but it will make such a difference.

Start at the top (if you have different levels within your home) and make your way down. Don’t just focus on the floor either, get in between things like the sofa and around the back of the headboard on your bed. You’d be surprised by the things you will end up finding underneath your cushions…

If you have any stains on your carpet, you have two options – call in a company to get rid of it for you like atlantabestcarpetcleaning.com, or attempt it yourself. You will need to know exactly what the stain is, in order to correctly remove it without damaging the surrounding areas.

Windows

When cleaning the glass of your windows, you will want to invest in a streak-free cleaner, because that is one of the worst things that can happen when trying to clean. You end wearing yourself out from all the wiping, and yet there are STILL visible streaks left on the glass! Make sure you don’t spray on too much and use newspapers to wipe them with.

If your windows are relatively large and hard to get to, use a professional wiper that can extend to any length (within reason.)

Bedroom

By now you should have already gotten rid of any clutter and dust. The floors should be clean, and your windows should be sparkling, so there isn’t that much left to do in the bedroom department. To finish off, all you really need to do is make the bed and put anything back in place if you moved them to clean the area. You can find tips on www.wayfair.com to make the perfect-looking bed.

Bathroom and Kitchen

Remove anything that is in your shower, bathtub and around the sink and put them to one side for now (unless you can throw them out!) and wet the areas with warm (or hot) water, and let it soak a little. Then you can get scrubbing with the appropriate products.

Apply grout and tile cleaner where it needs to be and allow that to sit for a while. It should give you the exact length of time on the back of the bottle.

Clean all mirrors with either the specified cleaner or even just warm soapy water. Wipe in circular motions to avoid any streaking.

Clean out the toilet. That doesn’t just mean the inside, but all around too. Lift up the toilet seat and give it a good wipe. If you have boys in the house – this is even more essential!

If you have any bath mats and rugs, put them in the washing machine.

If you haven’t already noticed, the key to cleaning out a bathroom is letting the product sit a while before doing anything else with it. It will smell ‘chemically’ in there, so open all windows and doors to air it out.

The same thing goes for the kitchen; the only difference is the products you use for your oven and cookers.

The Moving Home Manifesto!

The Moving Home Manifesto!

Moving home is never easy yet some people seem to thrive on the adrenaline rush of packing up all their belongings and heading to the other end of the country! Others, hate the prospect of relocation and do everything that they can stay put. Whichever category you fall into, there are some things that you simply have to consider when you are selecting your new home and arranging the move.

Image from: https://static.pexels.com/photos/259597/pexels-photo-259597.jpeg

Selecting the location of your new home.

There are several factors that you have to take into account when you are selecting your new home. The most important is location. Obviously, you want somewhere that looks and ‘feels’ nice and seems to be somewhere that you could fit in. However, there are several practical issues to bear in mind when you are making your decision.

You need to think about;

  • How far away is the new house from where you work? What is the traffic like at peak times and what are the public transport links like? Could you walk or cycle to work?
  • What are the local schools like? This is obviously vital if you have children already or are planning on having kids soon.
  • What are house prices doing in the area? If house prices are rising, this house could be an excellent investment. If they are falling, it could be a financial disaster.
  • What are the local amenities like? Where will you do your shopping? Where will you exercise and where will you socialise?

Take a few weeks to familiarise yourself with the area before you make any final decisions. Moving home is expensive and so you don’t want to do it too many times unless you really want to.

Getting ready to move

The day of the move is always going to be hard work but with the right help you can achieve it without too much stress. Select a professional firm like these movers who provide an all-round service. You can get help from them to de-clutter before you go. This can help with selling your house (it makes it look bigger) and gives you less to unpack at the other end. You can also use their storage facility to keep larger items that are getting in the way and get them delivered to your new home.

Start preparing to move several weeks before you actually have to go. Pack up all the things that you do not need regularly. The loft and the basement are the obvious places to start. You will be surprised by how much stuff you are willing to donate, give or throw away at this stage!

Organize your packing by room and label everything. You may not unpack all the boxes for several weeks after you arrive and you may need to find something in a hurry!

Once you have everything packed up in your trucks it is only polite to give the house a quick clean. After all, that’s what you will want to see when you arrive at your new house!

White vinegar and baking soda

These multi-purpose solutions are incredibly versatile and safe for your family, four-legged members included. If you desire a foaming cleanser, simply mix baking soda with lemon juice, and use it as a bathroom cleaner to make your tub shine. For a deodorizing cleaner, sprinkle baking soda on your carpet, leave it for five minutes and vacuum it up. Borax

Bleach is harmful to humans and pets, so stick with a safe alternative. Try borax for cleaning stains in carpet and clothing. Mix a half cup of borax with two tablespoons each of salt and borax for a heavy-duty carpet-stain remover. For laundry, use borax instead of bleach for your whites.

Hydrogen peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is a safe alternative to heavy chemicals; it breaks down quickly to water and oxygen when utilized for cleaning. This solution is great for germ killing–try the ratio of 25% hydrogen peroxide to 70% white vinegar and a bit of water to utilize this powerful cleaner.

Pet-marketed cleaners

There are numerous options found on the internet or at your local pet store. If you’re strapped for time and need a cleaner stat, these are a good option. Just be sure to double-check that the item is pet-friendly so that the whole family is safe during cleaning.
