Be a Blushing Bride- Not a Self Conscious One!

Be a Blushing Bride- Not a Self Conscious One!

Your wedding day is one of the most special days of your entire life- and when all eyes are on you, it’s natural to want to look your best. The last thing you want to do is spend the day feeling self-conscious, or look back at your wedding photos in a few years and regret the fact that you didn’t like how you looked. Here are a few of the ways you can make sure you’re the perfect blushing bride on your big day.

Body

A huge proportion of brides lose some weight before their big day. Reaching a weight you’re happy and comfortable at means you’re more likely to love how you look in your dress. Don’t aim for anything unrealistic, be aware that healthy weight loss is just one to two pounds a week. So if you have a lot of weight that you plan on losing, starting as early on as possible is your best bet. If you’re already at your target weight, toning up could be the way to go. Specifically, your arms, back, and shoulders since these will be on display in most wedding dresses. If you are at a healthy weight but have stubborn areas of fat that you just can’t get rid of, you could even consider a cosmetic procedure. It could be a non-invasive body contouring technique such as fat freezing, or traditional liposuction. Make sure you check out healing times so you know you’ll be healed in plenty of time for the big day. A professional surgeon such as board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Jan Zemplenyi would be able to give you the advice you needed.

Face

Of course, it’s important to take care of your skin at all times, but especially so in the run up to your wedding. Gorgeous, healthy and glowy skin will make you look like the most stunning bride. Consider booking in for a facial a few months before the wedding. There they will be able to diagnose your skin type and recommend products that work perfectly for you. Sticking to a good regime each day, and including weekly face masks that are targeted to your skin type will help to get it looking its very best. If you’re self-conscious about fine lines, treatments such as chemical peels or microdermabrasion can help. Again just be aware of any healing time you’ll need after any procedures, so you’re ready in time for your wedding.

Teeth

On your wedding day, you’re sure to be grinning from ear to ear, after all- it’s one of the happiest days of your life! So a sparkling smile is one of your best accessories on the big day. You could consider veneers or teeth whitening treatments. These include trays from the dentist, laser teeth whitening or even over the counter teeth whitening kits that you can buy. Depending on how your teeth currently look and what vision you have in mind for your smile. Consider booking a dentist appointment in advance who will be able to give you advice.

Hair

Your hair is your crowning glory, and having lovely shining hair is a surefire way to look incredible on your wedding day. Having it cut and colored by a professional is your best option. Then you can go about maintaining it at home with oils and deep conditioning treatments. If you’ve always wanted long hair but struggle to grow yours, you could consider getting extensions.

Cosmetic Surgery Options And Why You Should Be Thinking Serious

Cosmetic Surgery Options And Why You Should Be Thinking Serious

Cosmetic surgery is something that is becoming more readily available to the mass market. Gone are the days when it was just for the rich and famous. It is why more women today are seeking solace with surgery methods instead of perhaps addressing the issues the good old-fashioned way. Or even accepting themselves for who they are. It is, after all, your body and what you choose to do is entirely up to yourself. With that in mind, I thought I would explore some of the most popular cosmetic surgery options available today. Providing reasons why you should be thinking seriously about them.

Breast enlargement or reduction

Unfortunately, in today’s media, the way a woman should look is portrayed in a certain way. It doesn’t take into account that everybody is different. Breasts, in particular, are one area that many women want to improve on. For some, it’s for medical reasons, for others, it’s purely cosmetic. Some women have larger breasts than the average. But what this can do is cause severe backache down to the weight, and discomfort where the skin rubs together. A breast reduction can often be the only way to relieve these symptoms. Other women want to increase the size of the breast area for shape and how they look. While it is one of the most common cosmetic surgeries to take place, it is still worth remembering that research is needed. It will help you choose the right location and surgeon. There are still problems today with burst implants or botched surgery.

Laser eye surgery

Some people would have the opinion that laser eye surgery is not cosmetic surgery, but in some cases, it is. While it corrects a problem with eyesight, some people choose to do it for cosmetic reasons.

Whether you are short or long-sighted, laser eye surgery could help improve how you see. However, with such a sensitive area being worked on, there are some situations where these procedures go wrong. Thankfully, with regulations in place, people can make laser eye surgery claims. However, it’s important to know the best option to take when it comes to laser eye surgery to reduce the risk of error. For example, PRK surgery is considered the better option for individuals who have thinner corneas, and it can be a safer option than LASIK in such a scenario. However, it all depends on your own circumstances, so make sure you understand the procedures.

Eyesight is just one of those things we take for granted until it is gone, that is. So it’s worth considering whether there is a real need for it, or if you could cope with spectacles.

Liposuction

Finally, when it comes to weight loss, there are now surgeries you can undergo to help you shift the most stubborn of fats, and that is liposuction. It involves sucking out smaller areas of fat that can be hard to lose with exercise and a healthy balanced diet. It focuses on the areas where fat tends to reside, such as the stomach, the thighs, and the buttocks. The aim is to improve the body shape and make it easier to maintain the weight loss going forward. However, the results are not necessarily guaranteed. It tends to have the best results for people with a normal weight and in areas where the skin is tight.

I hope this has made you more informed of the most popular options for cosmetic surgery.

Risk-Free Ways to Remove Unwanted Tattoos

Remember the moment you decided to get a permanent tattoo and thought it was the best decision of your life? At that point it might have been, but fast forward a few years later, it certainly doesn’t seem so wise after all. Well, there’s no use crying over spilt milk…Or is there? In the last couple of years, removing tattoos by a laser tattoo removal machine or simply make them less visible with cosmetics has become  possible. So if you’re looking for a safe way to remove unwanted ink, perhaps you should rely on some of these methods:

Camouflage It
If you’re still not ready to finally say goodbye to your ink or you’re just looking for a temporary way to conceal your tattoo, then perhaps it’s better to camouflage your tattoo rather than try and permanently remove it. Not only will it save you a fair amount of time and energy, but it’ll also keep your wallet thicker. Try special makeup products and techniques which allow you to cover up your ink temporary. This is a great solution if you’re planning on attending a formal event, going on an interview or need to cover up during your working hours.
Cover Up!
Whether it’s a relationship gone bad, an idol you overgrew or simply a style you no longer fancy, there’s a simple way to turn your unwanted ink into something more desirable. This is by far the best solution for all those inked souls who wish to preserve their tattoos but regret their previous works of art. A simple cover up tattoo allows you to turn your tattoo into a different design and finally move away from your past. Of course, depending on the size, colour and other similar aspects of the tattoo, it might require a few sessions.

Salabrasion and Dermabrasion

If you’re not willing to rely on professional tattoo removal and wish to try out some DIY alternative methods, then salabrasion is just the thing for you. This method originated in the Middle East, in ancient times, as a method of rubbing a salt solution onto your skin, heating and scraping it in the process. Of course, this will lead to skin damage and scarring and no one can actually vouch for its effectiveness. On the other hand, dermabrasion is the surgical version of this method where you’re given a numbing solution and then sanded down until the epidermis with the tattoo is gone. It also results in scarring and doesn’t guarantee 100% removal.
Cryosurgery
Another method of removal comes in a form of cryosurgery, a procedure in which liquid nitrogen is applied to your tattoo, freezing and burning it off in the process. Chemical peels are also used for peeling away tattoos, but these two methods are known to be quite painful and also don’t guarantee maximum results.

In the last couple of years, technology has advanced in such a manner that most people nowadays are relying on laser tattoo removal, as it’s known to be the most effective and successful method of removing ink. This system sends short, bright pulses of light directly onto the tattooed parts of the skin, leaving the surrounding skin intact. This has been known as the safest form of tattoo removal and has been praised by many. Of course, the amount of treatments can vary, depending on the skin type, colour and size of the tattoo.

Whether you regret the style or the purpose of the tattoo, you’re seeking new employment with a strict no-tattoo policy or you just had a bad reaction to the ink, you probably want to make your tattoo a little less permanent. Nowadays, removing unwanted ink has become easier than ever and there’s a wide range of solutions for everyone who wishes to remove, conceal or redo their ink.

Get Your Skin Ready for Sun. By Guest Blogger, Amy G.

Get Your Skin Ready for Sun

Every year we promise ourselves that we will prepare our bodies for the summer on time, and yet it always catches us unprepared. Although the summer is just around the corner, there is still time to get your skin glowing for the beach. Here are a few useful tips to get you started.

  1. Full Body Exfoliation

No matter the season, regular exfoliation should be a part of your skin care routine. While we remember to take care of our face during winter, we often neglect our bodies because they are hidden under layers of clothes. If you have not done it yet, now is the time to exfoliate both your face AND your body. Unless your skin is too sensitive, dermatologists recommend exfoliating once or twice a week to achieve smooth and healthy-looking skin. But be careful – exfoliation is meant to remove only the surface, dead skin cells, without damaging the underlying new layer. Since body skin is a bit rougher, you can use brushes and exfoliating cloths or scrubs with coarse particles, like sugar. On the other hand, avoid using them on your face because they might cause irritation.

  1. Sunscreen as an Everyday Accessory

Freshly exfoliated skin is extremely susceptible to burning. This should be a reason enough to use sunscreen daily. If you are wearing makeup that contains sunscreen, that does not count. The SPF of beauty products is too low to provide an effective UV protection. But any broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 15 will be enough on a regular day. Make it at least 30 if you are heading to the beach. If you are wearing makeup, you should layer sunscreen under it. But remember that you will have to reapply the SPF about every two hours, so you might want to skip the whole makeup thing. Don’t forget that you should wear appropriate clothes to protect your skin in summer. The tighter the knit or weave, the smaller the holes and the less UV can get through. Also, if you have children, you get quality children clothes online that are made from quality fabrics to protect their skin in sunny days.

  1. Switch to Summer Skincare Products

Products that kept your skin feeling hydrated and comfortable during cold and dry winter months may leave it sticky and sweaty once the heat sets in. As the temperatures start to rise and the air becomes more humid, your skin begins to adjust by producing more oil. So, you need to adjust your skincare products accordingly. Pick products that contain lightweight ingredients, such as silicones and glycerine. They will hydrate your skin and leave a breathable barrier. If your skin is prone to breakouts, dab facial oil in dry spots and skip the rest of your face. You may be tempted to use harsh soaps in order to get squeaky clean skin, but this method can only backfire and cause your skin to produce even more oil. Instead, use a gentle facial cleanser such as rose water spray or a foaming face wash.

  1. Get Familiar with the New SPF Regulations

In 2012, the FDA adopted new regulations that redefined

sunscreens as we knew them. The term ‘sunblock’ came out of use because it cannot be scientifically proven that these products completely block sun radiation. New sunscreens are labelled only ‘broad-spectrum’ if they filter out both UVA and UVB rays. SPFs higher than 50 are also a thing of the past since the sky-high digits are not a guarantee of higher protective powers of sunscreen. A SPF 30 filters approximately 97 percent of UVB rays, and SPF 75 cannot be much more effective than that, can it?

With age, these tricks become less effective in providing us youthful-looking skin. This is when you should consider facial rejuvenation. We recommend laser clinics whose experts assure you that facial rejuvenation can improve the look of deep lines and prevent the occurrence of new ones.

Nails Getting Ruined by Sunblock or Bug Repellent?

By Tia Cristy

Nails Getting Ruined by Sunblock or Bug Repellent?

Problem: During summer my nails get tacky again after I use my insect repellent, it drives me crazy!

Tip from Tia: It’s hard to keep your mani/pedi in tact without it getting tacky, when following good skincare rules for summer. I only have 2 rules; No bug bites, No burn.

There is alcohol in some sunblocks and bug repellents. This is the reason the nail polish, breaks down. The nail polish can have a latex base, and rubbing alcohol is great at removing latex.

An easy way to keep the polish from gumming up is to apply a simple oil to the nails. You can use baby oil, olive oil, etc. Just apply a small amount over the nail, where you can see it shine. Then, apply the bug spray/repellent or sunblock. The oil will repel the spray from reaching the polish.

This will help in allowing you to enjoy the outdoors, without causing more maintenance later.
