How to make, baking cookies into a spa day.

TipsfromTia.com Milk and Cookies with Note Reading

Problem:

It’s the holiday season and I know it’s the time for giving, but I just feel like I need time for me. Is there any pampering ideas I can do at home? Jane, 25

Tip from Tia:

It’s the holidays, and what good are the holidays without cookies to indulge you. So why not indulge yourself to the fullest, by making delicious cookies and getting a home spa treatment all in one. This tip will get you ready to fill your house with the sweet smell of cookies, while you pander to yourself. All you need are some simple cookie ingredients to make it a sweet spa day. We’ll first start with making the cookies. This first part is easy enough, even if you’ve never made them before. The recipe measurements are on the back of that yellow bag of Peanut Butter & Milk Chocolate Morsels, follow the Directions.

PREHEAT oven to 375 degrees

COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt into small bowl. Beat
butter sticks, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in a large
mixing bowl until creamy. Add one egg at a time beating well. Gradually add in
flour mixture from small bowl. Stir in morsels and nuts. Now, use a rounded
table spoon to scoop out the dough to make a good size cookie. Place dough on an
un-greased baking sheet.

BAKE for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking
sheets for 2 minutes than move to wire racks to cool completely. (I prefer using lots of foil when I make mine. One sheet of foil for each batch I’m about to cook, and then just remove the foil from the baking sheet and stack up as they cool, this makes really soft cookies.)

While the cookies cool, it’s time to delight you with a
Sweet Spa day Treatment. All you need are the following ingredients to make 3
separate pampering tips.

Ingredients

  • 1
    teaspoon baking soda
  • 1
    stick of butter
  • 1
    teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2
    large eggs
  • 1 2/3
cups Peanut Butter & Milk Chocolate Morsels
    (softened)
  • 1
    tablespoon honey

Face First:

Take the 1 tablespoon honey, 1 egg and mix it with ½ stick
of butter. Blend until it has a thick consistency. You just made a simple
facial mask. Apply to fine lines around the eyes, forehead and laugh lines. Let
stand for 5 minutes and wash off.

Brighten that smile:

Next take the baking soda and mix with water to make a
paste. Then apply to your teeth. Let the paste stand on teeth for 4-10 minutes,
than brush teeth as usual. This is the safest way to brighten up that smile for
those holiday photos.

Hair a silky as
butter:

Then take the excess baking soda, ½ stick of butter, 1
teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 large egg, 1 2/3 cups Peanut Butter & Milk Chocolate Morsels (softened). Blend all together. This
has created a delicious hair masque. Apply to hair and let sit for 30 minutes
than shampoo and condition as usual. This will help with any breakage or
damage.

So there you have it, a home spa while your cookies are
cooling. Then, you can feel completely guilt free whether you eat or decide to package up
the cookies for your friends and family. And, don’t forget to save some for Santa!

Can’t Make Chocolate Chip Cookies, don’t have vanilla. Stupid Tip of the Day:

(Recap) Stupid Tip of the Day: Can’t Make Chocolate Chip Cookies, don’t have vanilla.

Don’t have vanilla extract, so you just can’t make that thing.

That’s not true. There are plenty of substitutes out there for recipes. And, one sub for vanilla extract is maple syrup.

Use the amount of syrup you would use in the recipe calling for vanilla. The taste hardly changes the recipe.

I used this the other night when I couldn’t find my bottle of vanilla when making chocolate chip cookies. (and I’m not the biggest fan of maple syrup) The cookies came out fantastic.

5 Tips to Making the Most of Your Retirement

Retiring should be exciting and a new time in your life to explore new hobbies and interests while spending time with loved ones in your family. You’re never too young to start looking into retirement planning services once you start making income. Honestly, the earlier the better, in most cases.

Making the most out of your retirement is possible with an understanding of your options and a bit of planning ahead to get everything out of your retirement that you have wanted for your future.

Planning Ahead of Time

Planning for your retirement months or even years in advance is a way to secure your financial future while preparing you for what is ahead in your future.

Begin Saving Early

Begin saving for your retirement as early as possible. Having a retirement fund and setting funds aside to save for bills and spending is a way to feel less stressed once the time to retire actually arrives for you.

Getting Help from Loved Ones

When you are unsure of what to do and how to go about preparing for your retirement, reach out to close friends and loved ones. Asking loved ones for help can get your paperwork and finances in order so your mind can rest easy once it is official.

Discover New Hobbies and Interests

Take time to discover new hobbies and interests you may have not had time for in the past. Whether you are into redecorating the home, woodworking, crafts or even outdoor activities, retirement gives you the freedom to do as you please without having to abide by a strict working schedule. Always be sure to explore new venues and options for hobbies to keep yourself from feeling distant or despondent since you are no longer a part of the official workforce. Keeping busy is a way to make the most out of any retirement time you have left to spend.

Consider a Retirement Home

Consider the option of seeking out a retirement home like the Sunshine Retirement residences. Retirement homes offer safety, security and plenty of social activities and amenities based on the type of lifestyle you prefer.

The more you know about the options you have when it comes to retirement the less of a burden the planning of your retirement is likely to be once you begin. Understanding that you have options when retiring and that planning ahead is a way to save can help you to put your mind at ease regardless of how large of a transition you are planning to make for yourself.

4 Tips to Avoiding Major Roof Repair Expenses.

When you are a homeowner, there are a lot of things that you need to pay attention to, but one of the big problem areas that too many homeowners ignore is the roof. Roofs do not last forever, but with proper maintenance, they can last longer than they would otherwise. Make sure that you know how to avoid the need for expensive roof repairs.

Shovel

If you live in a climate where snow piles down quickly and heavily, you need to shovel your roof. This can be a difficult and irritating task, but given how heavy snow is, especially after it freezes, shoveling is a necessity. Work with a safety line and a healthy amount of caution, or get it done professionally, but make sure that this is something that you take care of.

Inspect

Roofing experts state that one of the best ways to avoid costly repairs to your roof is to inspect it on a regular basis. In general, under the best of circumstances, you should do a visual inspection at least twice a year. Get up on a ladder and take a look at the roof at the beginning of your cold season and at the end. Also make it a point to check the roof after every major storm, noting any missing shingles, any debris that is lying on the roof and any damage that might have been done. The key to preventing major roof damage to be aware of small issues and to stop them from becoming large ones.

Replacement

The experts at A. Clark Roofing & Siding Ltd maintain that replacing a roof when it reaches the point where it needs it is far better than pouring repair money into a roof that is failing. What a lot of people are not aware of is that roofs only last for a certain amount of time. In general, when you are looking at a roof, you are looking at a ten to twelve year investment. Once a roof starts to go, it is far better to replace it than to repair it. Make sure that you get an expert opinion on your roof and what is happening with it.

Check Inside

Sometimes, the best way to tell that there is something wrong with your roof is to check your ceilings. Dripping water and bending walls are all signs that something is going on with your roof and fast action is required.

Don’t get hit for hefty roof repairs. A little work today can save you a lot of money tomorrow!
