Earning a college degree is one of the most important things you can do. A degree helps open doors for you both personally and professionally. College isn’t cheap, so you can be sure that you’re getting the most for your investment of time and money by keeping these tips in mind.

Choose Your Field of Study Carefully

You’ll make a lot of important decisions during your college years, and choosing your major is one of the most important. However, you don’t need to feel pressured to select a major on the first day of your freshman year. Instead, spend some time researching and setting your ultimate career goals. If you know that the field you want to enter requires a masters degree in civil engineering, you can plan your course of study accordingly.

Stick with Your Budget

Many students leave college with a staggering amount of debt. One of the best things you can do to set yourself up for the future is to set a budget and stick with it. Even if you need to take out student loans, look for other forms of financing, such as grants and scholarships, to keep your amount of debt as low as possible.

Develop Your Interests

In most cases, your future employers want to see more than just a good student. They want to know that you are a well-rounded individual who can thrive in a variety of situations. College is the perfect time to develop your interests. Whether you love sports, music, art or something else, take the time to study what you love, even if it’s not something that will ultimately end up on your transcript.

Focus on Relationships

When you are busy with classes and homework, it’s easy to stay isolated. However, you’ll miss out on a great college experience if you don’t develop new relationships. Get to know your roommates, talk to your professors or ask the other students in your class to join you for a late-night study session. True friendships are something that will stick with you long after graduation.

Remember Your Why

Even the best students have down days during college. When your homework is piling up and your schedule is already full, it’s important to remember your why. Why did you choose to come to college? Why are you working so hard? When you keep your ultimate goals in mind, it’s easier to trudge through the hard days and keep striving toward the prize.

When you complete college, you want to know that you’ve done everything possible to get the most from your experience. By keeping these tips in mind, you can grow as a person while you are earning your degree.

When spending a large amount of money on a home security system, it is always important to make certain that the security system you purchase does everything you need it to do. When your security system is providing you with a high level of monitoring capabilities, the system makes it easy for you to know precisely what is going on around your home from any location. Here are five secrets to help you get the most out of your security system.

Improve the Use of Security Cameras

Camera placement can sometimes be tricky. This is especially true when you have a rather limited number of security cameras to work with and have to cover a large area. To get more out of your cameras, you must take the time to hook them up to rotators to give you a wider range of view. Adjusting their height will also give you an increase in viewing coverage. This is important when you are viewing your property and house by remote access from a smart device. You want the maximum field of view as you can possibly obtain from your equipment.

Recent advances in home security technology has also opened up the ability to remotely control and view security cameras from a smartphone, tablet or PC. This added feature allows more flexibility than ever to control your security system from a distance.

Look More Secure

If you cannot afford a lot of costly security cameras, then it is certainly okay to put up a few fake cameras. A burglar will most likely not be able to tell the difference from afar. Fake cameras with a flashing red light will make a potential intruder think twice. Sometimes giving the impression that your home is being more heavily monitored than it really is can be enough of a deterrent to most criminals.

Using Timers to Turn Things on When You Are Not Home

According to Lifehacker.com, one of the ways to enhance your home security system is to give the impression that someone is home by setting a timer to turn on a television. This is an important tool during the times of day when break-ins occur most often. The idea is to keep a potential intruder on their toes with a little misinformation of your own.

Use Hybrid Motion Sensors

Hybrid motion sensors detect motion using more than one detection method. More than a single detection method tends to ensure that there will not be any false readings. With this increased level of accuracy, it will be much harder for an intruder to bypass your security measures.

Call a Professional Security Company for Help

If you really want the inside scoop on some of the best security secrets in the industry, then it would be smart to research using sources like NorthStar home security reviews and those of competitors. You may come up with many clever ideas on your own, but a professional who deals with security systems every day will tend to know all the secrets and tricks behind effective home security system setup and maintenance.

When it comes to the secrets behind setting up your home security system to get the best results, it is important to recognize that every situation is different. With a little research and thought, you will be able to figure out some of the most innovative methods for maximizing the proper use of your home security system. This will help to ensure that you keep the intruders out of your home, and keep your family safe and secure in the process.

Date nights are important from the first date through  those years there after, deciding to spend eternity. Date nights are how couples continue to have magic. Re-bonding over and over again. And, even if you’ve been together for decades, the date nights don’t have to get over the top exciting to still achieve connecting. They just have to be had.

Studies have shown the best way to bond is over food. Some say that’s a path of over indulging, but that’s not the case. Trying new foods or snacking while chatting is a great way to bond. Feeling distance in a relationship? Go out to eat, somewhere new.

Successful relationships have also admitted that date night, always ends with a make out session, even if it doesn’t end with a “home run”. A 5 minute make out session with your spouse or significant other, helps in keeping that spark, ignited.

Tips in Action: Make Your Own Mouthwash.
tongue out

Mouthwashes can have many unwanted ingredients for some like fluoride, alcohol and sugars. If you are just trying to get a clean, fresh, minty mouth without the extras, make your own mouthwash.

It’s pretty simple to do. Take a bottle of water, take a couple of sips, to allow some room at the top. Next, add in a teaspoon to 1 1/2 teaspoons of iodized table salt or sea salt. Salt will cleanse the mouth, killing bacterias and healing any wounds from bushing.

After that, add in 1/4 up to 1/2 teaspoon of peppermint extract for a fresh, minty taste as well as a calming reaction to your system.

Reapply the bottle cap and shake. Swish and gargle, but don’t swallow, just like regular mouthwash. Shake before each use.

Does not need to be refrigerated. Check with doctor, before you try this, if you have high cholesterol, do not use if you can’t have salt.

Keep the Sheets Clean. Quickie:

By Tia Cristy

Quickie: Keep the Sheets Clean.

Unmade Bed

Alright, some people have got it down pat on a weekly basis to change the bed linens. Others, especially the younger ones; tend to see how long they can go without washing the sheets.

But, when is the time allotted in changing bed sheets?

Studies show that changing the sheets every 2 weeks can be tolerated, as long as you weren’t sick during that time period.

If you fall ill, change the sheets once you start feeling better and again, after you are completely healed. This will help prevent reinfecting you and your bed mate.
