Get That Winter Cozy Time Feeling At Home

Get That Winter Cozy Time Feeling At Home

As the weather is getting colder, we often start to think of ways that we can make our indoor space more comfortable and pleasing. We want to stay indoors more and drink hot cocoa and snuggle up in front of our favorite movies. But what are some easy ways of getting that warm snuggly feeling at home? Read on to find out.

In the den

If you have a room or man cave where you hang out, you’ll want to make some small adjustments to make it snug and warm for the colder weather.

Lined curtains can help keep the heat in a room, without using up extra fuel. Choose a thick fabric like tweed available for stores such as http://www.homedepot.com. It is not only energy efficient but will also look stylish too.

If you are going for tweed fabric, then why not decorate the rest of the room in keeping with that?  A man cave feel can be achieved by adding leather chairs and fun oversized beans bags in dark colors. Try one like this crazy 8 footers, available at http://www.sackdaddy.com/products/8-ft-sack-daddy-bean-bag.

Accessorize with old books and taxidermy for a gentlemen’s club look. If a real taxidermy is a bit much for you, then there fake options available like the ones here. They can be made from anything from plastic and paper to fabric, that you can display in the room instead of the real thing.

In the bedroom

The bedroom is one of the most important places to get ready for the colder seasons. If you are not comfortable getting to sleep, or when you are asleep then, you are not going to feel you at your best.

Brushed cotton sheets are perfect for keeping you toasty warm in the cold weather. The long fibers of the bedding help to hold in an extra layer of warmth that can make your hot water bottle all but redundant.

Extra blankets never go a miss during the colder snaps either. Of course, you don’t have to stop at that, you can even get some gorgeous electric heated blankets now in fabrics like fake fur. Which are much more stylish than they use to be in the old days.

Remember to provide a soft rug too. So your feet are warm as soon as you step out of bed in the morning.

In the lounge

We spend a fair bit of time in our lounges and front rooms, especially when it gets colder. They are the place we relax in the evenings and on weekends. They also tend to be where we entertain guests when they come over.

There are plenty of alterations you can make in the front room to make it the perfect of the winter. Provide blankets and cushions in soft, warm fabrics, and scented candles relevant to the season.

It is also worth looking at the heat source you have. Many people find an open fire, a warm and relaxing addition to a room come winter time. However, they do take a lot to put in if you haven’t already got a working chimney. Then you have to feed them with logs and get the chimney regularly cleaned, which can be a bit of a pain.

A good alternative to a real fire is a fake gas fire. It looks like the real thing but doesn’t need all the maintenance. Of course, they are safer too as there is no chance of any sparks catching on the carpet or furniture. Some even offer a stay cool screen, which is perfect if you have kids or pets that you want to protect.

Another option is an electric fire, which doesn’t have a real flame, but a flame effect. This works particularly well in a fake log burner style, which is very fashionable right now. They look just like the real thing, they even have a fake flue pipe so you can’t tell the difference. You can also get a faux fire surround for them. So you will have a mantle piece to hang stockings and wreaths on come Christmas time.

In the hall

The other area of the home that needs to be got ready for the cold weather is the hallway.

When the weather is bad, the hall is the place that you put on your outdoor clothes. Also, it’s the place that you need to take it all off again, before going into the rest of the house.

TipsfromTia.com bootsThis stops you tracking mud, debris, and dirt into the rest of your home. So that means the hall need to be organized to store all these items in a practical and attractive way.

Make sure you have high pegs on the wheel that will be long enough to hang your winter coats so they can dry overnight. Provide mats for shoes and boots, so they don’t dirty the floor.

You can also keep a box for every member of the household where they can store their scarves, gloves, and hat. Then they will always know where they are. Which should make that morning rush easier, if nothing else.

A stand for umbrella is a good idea too. Pick one that catches the water as it drips off, else it can soak into your floor or carpet and produce mold.

In the kitchen

Making your kitchen winter ready, depends on the space you have available. If you live in an older building with wooden doors and windows, it can be a good idea to get some draft excluders to keep as much heat in as possible.

Winter is also the perfect time to get a range cooker, as the heat they produce goes a long way to heating to the whole house. It will certainly make the room above the kitchen warm and toasty, that’s for sure.

Of course, there are little touches that you can do in the kitchen to make it perfect for autumn and winter too. A swag of dried flowers hanging from the ceiling always looks very festive. Or you can match your tablecloths and tea towels in with the theme of the season.

These Amazing Tips Can Stop You Becoming A Dreaded Bridezilla

These Amazing Tips Can Stop You Becoming A Dreaded Bridezilla

If you have been to a few weddings this summer, you may have encountered a dreaded bridezilla. I’m sure you know exactly the type of bride I’m talking about. They are the ones who take on way too much of the wedding preparation and get incredibly stressed out in their quest to organize the perfect day. No one wants to become a bridezilla. But unfortunately, it sometimes happens to women without them even noticing. So how do you prevent yourself from turning into a wedding control freak? Here are some useful tips.

Stay Within Budget

One of the best ways to keep stress at bay is to come up with a reasonable budget and stick to it. After all, there is no better way to get stressed than by getting yourself into debt. So before you even think about booking a venue or buying a dress, take a look at your finances. How much can you afford to spend on your big day? Once you have a figure, you can then start to look for venues, dresses and other wedding necessities that are within your price range. There are plenty of budgeting guides online like http://www.bridesmagazine.co.uk/planning/general/planning-service/2013/01/average-cost-of-wedding

Don’t Do Everything Yourself

Remember that it is perfectly okay to ask others for help. Your partner should by pulling his weight with your wedding organization and planning. If he isn’t, let him know that you could do with his help. You can also ask your parents and bridesmaids for some other bits of preparation help. There are also some companies that can take certain tasks off your hands. For instance, a wedding planner can help you decorate your venues. And you can also hire design firms that can personalize wedding invites for you including http://www.paperthemes.co.uk/wedding-stationery

Ask Someone To Keep Your Behavior In Check

You should ask your maid of honor to keep a check on your behavior and moods. If she thinks that you are suffering from bridezilla-style mood swings or are getting too stressed, she can take you to one side and have a word with you. You may not realize when you are starting to obsess over minor and pointless details. If you have someone keeping an eye on you, you can quickly put a stop on things when you slip into bridezilla territory.

Think About Your Priorities

Does it really matter what type of flowers you have on your reception tables? Or the type of pillows that your ring bearers carry the wedding rings on? At the end of the day, probably not. There is only one thing that truly matters. And that is that you and your partner can enjoy the day celebrating your love. So rather than fussing over the small details, change your priorities and look at the big picture instead.

Stick to all the points in this blog post, and you won’t have to worry about scaring everyone with bridezilla behavior!

Here are some tips for helping you do so.

pexels-photo-175731-large-jpegwww.pexels.com

Find The Time

One of the most important things that can help you improve your communication is finding the best time to have your conversations. It is a good idea not to blurt anything out while neither of you have enough time to have a proper discussion. This could easily frustrate your partner and lead to arguments. Instead, simply ask your partner if they have some spare time to chat to you. When you both have plenty of time, you can then talk about the things that are bothering you.

Face-To-Face

It is important that all your important discussions and talks are done face-to-face. Even if you are worried or nervous about raising a certain issue with your partner, you should always try to talk to them directly. Don’t be tempted to do it by a mobile text message or email. Otherwise, your partner might misread your words! Instead, talk to them in person so that you can properly elaborate on your feelings and emotions.

Get Professional Help

If you find that talking to your partner always ends in arguments and tears, you can always get professional help. Think about booking an appointment with a local counselor or therapist for couples therapy. The therapist will invite you both to his or her office. You will then get the chance to work through your problems with them. The therapist will help you to openly discuss your problems and figure out the best way for you and your partner to move forward in your relationship.

Remember The 48-Hour Rule

If your partner does or says something that makes you angry or upset, you should tell them. But you don’t have to do it straight away. Wait for 48 hours. If you are still feeling hurt about the incident after this time, talk to them about it. Waiting this long will help calm you down so that you can talk about things in a civilized way. You won’t have to worry about getting too angry and upset, and flying off the handle! If you aren’t too bothered about what was said or done after 48 hours, then you don’t have to raise it with your partner.

Body Language Counts

It’s not just your words that you need to consider. Body language plays a big part in communication as well. Sit up straight and always give your partner plenty of eye contact. And remember not to use any threatening body language as this could cause an argument.

Six stylish tips on how to wear a jumpsuit

image-3-2 A jumpsuit has been gaining popularity for the last few years and has unquestionably become a popular fashionable clothing item. It is both trendy and practical and it consists of two parts, top and bottom, joined in one piece. Now that the cold winter days are ahead of us, wearing a dress is not the best option as it may leave you freezing. On the other hand, a jumpsuit is a perfect solution for those chilly days since it covers up almost all of your body. Also, it is suitable for any occasion and can make you look both casual and super chic. Today, they are available in a variety of shapes, colors and patterns and can be easily matched with any accessory in order to make a complete outfit. However, if they are not worn correctly they can accentuate all of your flaws and imperfections and make you feel insecure. If you want to avoid feeling intimidated when choosing the right jumpsuit, take a look at these few tips.

Define your waist

Choosing the right jumpsuit can be a bit tricky as it’s purpose is to emphasize the woman’s waist and define the curvy look. One of the ways to achieve this is to find a suitable belt and cinch your jumpsuit at the waist. If you are leaning towards a more elegant style you can go for a golden statement belt which goes perfectly with a black, red or navy jumpsuit.

Show some cleavage

If you are looking for a sexier look, opt for a jumpsuit with major cleavage and make your plunging neckline visible and seductive. By adding some flashy jewelry, such as a short necklace or statement earrings, you will accentuate the upper part of the body and draw the attention away from the cleavage. It’s all about the effect you are trying to produce and the style you want to achieve.

Choose a feminine print

This winter’s fashion designers have embraced many comebacks such as a black and white polka dot fashion design, floral print, ruffles and stripes. They appear almost everywhere – on dresses, jumpsuits and accessories. Choosing a floral or polka dot jumpsuit adds to a more feminine and charming look. However, avoid adding too much jewelry as it might be a little bit over the top.

Wear heels with wide leg jumpsuit

image-7Wearing heels can transform any outfit and change it from casual to classy. You can always add a spark to your look by choosing the right pair of high heels. Wearing a nice solid formal playsuit with appropriate high heels creates a sophisticated and classy look. Also, if you happen to wear wide leg jumpsuit, which has been taking over the runways for quite some time now, avoid wearing slippers or flats as it will create a sloppy look. Always go for a nice pair of skinny nude heels because it will extend your body figure and make you look taller.

Go casual

image-1-2This unique fashion item can be casual too. Combining it with a pair of light sneakers and a denim jacket and spicing it up with just a little bit of jewelry creates a perfect every day loose outfit, which is not only stylish but also very comfy and practical.

Find the perfect fit

Most of us, before choosing most of our clothing, need to consider our size and body build. Finding a jumpsuit that fits your body is essential and anything too tight or too loose should be avoided. Tight jumpsuit will make you feel uncomfortable and loose jumpsuit will fail to accentuate your body curves and make you look unpolished.

image-6Although choosing the right jumpsuit can be a bit overwhelming, it surely is fun playing with it and experimenting with all sorts of accessories so as to create a desirable effect but at the same time feel comfortable in it.

Four Areas of Your Life That You Could Change, to Give Yourself a Real Confidence Boost

Four Areas of Your Life That You Could Change, to Give Yourself a Real Confidence Boost

In life, we can all need a little confidence boost here and there. Not all of us are naturally confident and really have to work on it. There are several things that can affect how confident we are. We might have had a negative experience in the past. It can be hard to let go of, and as a result, makes us feel unable to be proud of ourselves. We might not be happy with how we look and feel changes would help that. Whatever the reason for lacking in confidence, there are things that you can do to change that. So I’m going to talk you through some things that you could change, to give yourself a confidence boost.

16241388115_fec39f427a_zimage

Change Aspects of Your Appearance

I have briefly mentioned it above, but your appearance can be a major factor that hinders your confidence. While you shouldn’t rely on how you look to make you feel happy, small changes could help. Think for instance about your teeth. If you hate your teeth, does it stop you from smiling? It might make you feel awkward in front of a crowd, and out you off speaking in public. A simple procedure or treatment at somewhere like Broadway Dental Clinic could sort your smile right out. Something like that can be a massive confidence booster. You’ll be the selfie queen before we know it!

Change Your Thinking

One easy way to give yourself a confidence boost is to change how you think. You need to start thinking positively. In order to think positively, you need to highlight your strengths and weaknesses. It then means to take steps to overcome those weaknesses. Don’t see them as failures, but things that you can improve on. So learn from your mistakes or weaknesses. Don’t dwell on things that have happened in the past. They are exactly that; in the past. You can make your future exactly as you would want it to be.

Change Your Approach

You might have heard the little phrase ‘fake in until you make it.’ This is a good phrase that to start with, you might need to implement. If other things haven’t worked for you in the past, then why not try this? Basically, if you act like you are confident, then you will become confident. A great way to do this is by talking to other people and following their examples. Confident people are attractive to be around. So be around them and learn from them. Confidence is said to be contagious, so soak it all in!

Change How You Control Situations

One reason people lack confidence is that they don’t feel in control. Take a job interview, for example. Are you someone that plans well in advance for an interview and prepares lots of answers? Or do you just turn up and feel a little disorganized? When you take control, you will feel more confident. So take the time to plan and prepare for things more. It will give you a complete boost.
