I always found it ironic that vampires don’t like garlic. Eating garlic cleans your blood. The cleaner your blood, the better it is for your immune health.

So, the best start at triggering a healthy immune system is eating garlic. Eating raw garlic can be too harsh for many, but you will still get benefits by cooking with fresh garlic. Another way to get your daily source of garlic without the smell is, garlic pills.

It may not be cold season yet, but it’s best to build the immune system up now, without all the cold germs floating around.

Skin care is so important when entering the sun. Protecting the skin on the outside is important, but there are ways to protect your skin from the inside out.

Adults hitting that bloody Mary breakfast buffet when at the beach, before going sea side, may not be a bad idea.

Pump the kids up with tomato juice, before jumping in the pool could be a way to go, as well.

Tomatoes can help prevent the skin from absorbing the dangerous parts of UV rays.

Stupid Tip of the Day: Tiny Holes in the House Don’t Matter.

Whether you own or rent your home,whether it’s a house or apartment; structural inspections several times of year, are important. I recommend seasonal inspections are the best time to inspect, because of the weather changes.

Finding small holes in exterior walls and interior walls along with dry wall, can allow many pest to pass through very easily, large or small.

With exterior walls stuffing with steel wool and/or a bag of broken glass and insulation will keep pests like mice, snakes and other larger pests out of your home.

For interior holes use steel wool and patch with compound. Don’t forget to fill in holes around wires and plumbing; spots that are usually overlooked when pests are a problem.

Doing a structural inspection can help in preventing large problems, because you may be able to discover a problem a lot sooner.

Quickie: Ouch, When You Get Burnt.

When cooking or working with something hot, there is always a danger of getting burnt. When celebrating holidays there are more causes for burns, like roasting marshmallows, fireworks, sparklers, grills and fire pits. REMEMBER, If it is a severe burn seek medical attention immediately.

If you happen to get a slight burn, put your skin under luke-warm water while letting the temperature increase to cold, it will start to neutralize the burn.

Once you remove the burn from cold water, pour soy sauce onto the burn. It will help draw out the burn and sting. Apply antibiotic ointment to the burn. Repeat ointment treatment till skin is healed.

Stupid Tip of the Day: Use a Dish Towel to Dry That!

Some swear by using dish towels to help in saving the environment and some people have a hard time using anything but disposable to dry something. Well, the truth is, it comes down to what you feel comfortable with.

But, if you are going to use a dish towel to do your drying duties, don’t make these crucial mistakes…

Be sure to throw the used towel in the wash if it was used for drying anything other than a clean clear liquid, example freshly washed dishes. If it was used to clean up a spill of soda or wiping up a chemical, washing it, is necessary.

After drying your dishes, hang it either where it has an open air flow or simply toss it in a fluff cycle in the dryer.

Folding a wet towel can cause bacterias to grow in between the folds. Letting it dry by air , requires the towel to be open and airy.

Be sure to throw your used towels in the laundry every few days, to keep fresh.

If going green is your thing and reusing cloth towels are for you, just remember these simple tips, so you don’t contaminate clean surfaces with yucky bacterias.

Problem: Hello Tia, I was wondering if you knew if sinus and allergy pills can effect your mood. I’ve been feeling nervous and someone said it could be my pills, but I’ve been on them a long time.

Tip from Tia:

Well, first off, you should contact your doctor. Yes, these medications, as well as others, can effect your moods. No matter the length of time you’ve been on them, your system can change at any time. But, only your doctor can help you determine the cause.

A tips to help naturally relieve allergies, sinus pressure and calm the nerves are through aroma therapy. Don’t knock it till you try it, is all I have to say. Not only are the scents soothing, but inhaling or applying to skin can have healing properties.

So try using some lavender and pine oils to help with allergies and sinus problems. Breathing in deep, can also help calm your nerves.

Many people suffer from Sciatica. It’s a nerve pain that can shoot through the butt all the way down the leg. It happens because nerves are compressed. Sometimes that is because of a herniated disc in the spine. In that case, you need to see a doctor or specialist for treatment options like artificial disc replacement.

But, treating the Sciatica immediately is very important to be able to keep up in your daily life. Resting Sciatica can be the worst decision.

Stretching out the nerves is the only way to get relief. You must push through the pain. That’s why most patients will take prescription pain-relievers, while working out the Sciatica nerves. Talk to your doctor to find out your options, there are non-narcotic pain-relievers on the market.

Tips for working out the Sciatic nerve is, laying on your stomach and arching your back, to prop up on your elbows and hold is a great way to stretch out the right areas. Repeat process several times. Also, walking and swimming have had much success in treating Sciatica. Be sure not to over shoot, with running or lifting while suffering from Sciatica. And yes, rest when needed, but resting to heal, doesn’t work with this compression of the nerves.

Another simple tip to remember is good bedding, such as pillows and mattresses along with activity can help with back care, to prevent or aid after disc replacement.

Quickie: Removing Pollen from a Surface.

That yellow-greenish dust that covers the car, lawn chairs or grill is of course, pollen. Remember when removing pollen, don’t just wipe it away. Doing that will release spores into the air and cause allergy sufferers to have a flare up.

Wet the pollen first, either by pouring water directly on the surface or apply a saturated towel on top of the surface and let it sit for a few seconds. Once the pollen is wet you can wipe up the surface. Be sure to wash hands after handling, so allergens don’t transfer to other surfaces.

Tips in Action: Get Magic Marker Off.

Whether it is from the kids drawing or you’ve done it your self; hearts sink, when magic marker residue is left behind on something it was never meant to be on.

In a panic, some people will try anything to remove the belligerent marks, but as long as you have a little patience, the best results happen with a baking soda paste.

Mix baking soda with water until you get a creamy paste like result. Apply to the stains rubbing the solution in, and let set for a couple of minutes.

Then, continue to rub the marker out. You may have to use a little elbow, to get it all the way out if it’s embedded in wood grain or something like that. But, you should see the stain start to lift.
