Cucumbers Look Fancy with Ridges.

By Tia Cristy

Problem: Hi Tia, thanks for what you do. There’s a lot of parties coming up. Money is tight, so I want to do things DIY and I was wondering how do they make vegetable trays look so pretty, like the ridges on cucumbers?

Tip from Tia: Thank you for reading. I am all about doing things yourself when it comes to parties, as long as it’s not too overwhelming. Remember, it’s a party and you want to enjoy it too. You can save a lot money by doing it yourself, without going cheap.

Pay a couple extra dollars for garnishes that can make the tray look pretty, because more than likely, you still saved money.

Now, to answer your question on wondering how they make cucumbers look fancy with ridges on a veggie tray, peel the cucumber rinse it. Take a fork and run it down the sides of the cucumber. Slice it up. Spread the ridged circles nicely on the platter. Simple touches can make a difference.

Quickie: Bring Back Natural Hair Highlights After Winter.

Natural highlights always seem to dull during the long winter months. Boost back highlights, by adding a small amount of lemon juice to shampoo. Adding only a couple drops, will help the sun brighten your locks naturally, without bleaching. Grapes Go Bad, but Raisins Don’t Go Bad. Tips in Action:

By Tia Cristy

Tips in Action: Grapes Go Bad, but Raisins Don’t Go Bad.

Raisins are dried grapes. We know that grapes can spoil, but what about raisins? If your box of raisins have been sitting in the cabinet for a long time, and they don’t have much life left, they are hard and stuck together, don’t throw them out, they’re still good.

To return life back to the raisin, boil a pot of water. Remove the pot from the burner and add the raisins and let sit for a few minutes.

The water will restore plumpness back to the dried fruit, as good as new.

Candle Too Small for the Candle Holder.

By Tia Cristy

Problem: Hey Tia, I got new candle holders, to hold the straight candle sticks, and the candles I bought are too small for the candle holder, to stand straight, they tilt. Why would someone make candle holders that don’t hold the candle? Anyway, is there anyway to remedy this?

Tip from Tia: I know exactly what you mean, candles are pretty standard, so, why aren’t the holders? Right? Well, depending upon how much room is in there, here’s a few tricks to try.

With a small difference, light the candle and add a few drips into the holder and quickly place candle stick in to cool and seal upright.

If there is a large amount of space using a dryer sheet folded up and placed on the bottom of the candle before you insert into the candle holder. Be care if you use the dryer sheet, not to let the candle burn down to it, they can catch fire.

If it the wax isn’t holding and the dryer sheet is too big, use a used peanut butter mini cup wrapper, (you know, the brown cupcake wrapper thing) it can usually do the job, and is more camouflaged with darker colored candles.
