Teaching Your Kids the Trigger Points. Tips on Triggers:

www.freedigitalphotos.net/by David Castillo Dominici

So the other night, my niece couldn’t go to sleep; she had every excuse in the world, except the one that I was there and she didn’t want to go to bed.

She said she had a headache, belly was hurting and a few other ailments. This all could have been true or it could have been a ploy.

Remember, kids are constantly growing and that can have some pain to it; hence the phrase, Growing Pains. So, it is important to take what they say with compassion, but don’t let them play it too far.

So, I listen to her and then I told her to get into the bed and rub the fatty web between the finger and thumb. I explained that would help get rid of the headache.

I told her while see was doing that to rub her little feet together, with one on top of the other, then switch. I told her this would make the rest feel better. She does them both the best she can and says, “My headache’s gone!” I smiled and told her to lay there and continue to rub the feet together.

Long story short, she was asleep within 10 minutes. Rubbing the feet can make things better, but also allows relaxation, which in return can make a sleepy child, relax and fall asleep.

Teaching them trigger techniques early can allow them to feel control on their body and give you a bit of peace in knowing if they are hurting this helps, also they will not be up and down all night just because they don’t want to sleep. (if that’s the case of it)

To Butter or Not to Butter for a Burn. Stupid Tip of the Day:

You’ve probably heard of this. You get burnt by the stove or a fire and someone may tell you to put butter on it. Though this tip has been around for awhile, it’s not the best remedy for treatment.

Put butter in a hot frying pan and what does it do? It sizzles! So, why would you but it on a skin burn? Many say it helps expel the heat heat from a burn. But, butter also contains unseen bacteria. This can get into the burn and penetrate down deep, cause more harm than good in some cases.

The best tip for a burn is to eject the heat by first using room temperature water and slowly progressing to cold water. Soak the burn in cold water for up to 20 minutes to reduce scarring. Apply antibiotic cream to the burn and cover with a clean bandage or dressing. For pain, use an ointment that has a pain reliever. If burn is extreme, seek medical attention right away.

Steady Hand for Applying Liquid Eyeliner. Tips in Action:

FreeDigitalPhotos.net/by moggara12
Applying a straight line on anything can be difficult. Especially, when it comes to your face, it can be nerve racking!

A simple little trick to get a smooth straight line for your upper lid doesn’t have to be rocket science, truly. In craftsmanship over the centuries, people use dowels to help steady the hand to get a straight line or apply something delicately.

By using the dowel concept, you can get a straight line on your lids too. Use your opposite hand as your dowel; keeping the drawing hand steady for application. If you only have one hand available to apply your eyeliner, then use your two free fingers as your dowel and rest them against the cheek to get the steady hand. This will help you achieve a good line a majority of the time. Like all things though, practice makes perfect!

Does Your Ring Keep Slipping? Quickie:

By Tia Cristy

Does Your Ring Keep Slipping? Quickie:

Stones and weather can make your rings slip on the finger. Whether it is spinning or sliding down, this can be a bit annoying.

Here’s a quick tip to help reduce the slippage without damaging the metal or the stone of your jewelry.

Take a candle and light it. Safely! drip the wax inside, into the ring where the stone is; the part that would be against the top of your finger.

Hold steady as wax starts to cool. Just before wax is completely cool gently press to smooth the surface. Once cooled, put ring on finger to see comfort level.. If too loose add more wax; if too high shave down with finger nail, a layer at a time, as not to remove too much.

Removing wax is easy. Just put in hot water to melt or put ring in freezer for a few hours, remove from freezer and pop out wax easily.
