Ridding Evil with Sage; Evil Bacteria.

Ridding Evil with Sage; Evil Bacteria.

The ritual of smudging (burning) sage has been around for centuries. Some use it to ward off evil spirits from the home. I found it rids of more than that. It kills evil bacteria!

I had a re-occurrence of Strep Throat three times in the last six months. How is this possible? Well, it means something still had the bacteria living on it. I did all the proper things after the first spell. I threw out all things that got close to my mouth. Lipstick, lip liner, dental care, including the full tube of tooth paste. After buying all new makeup and dental needs, about five weeks later, the strep was back. I repeated the process. This time I was even more tenacious to throw out more things.

About another two months passed by, and I got the crazy Strep once again. tipsfromtia.com pillsWith another round of antibiotics in my system, I felt defeated, broke from purchasing all new products, and tired of scrubbing the house down with all different cleansers and natural products. It was time to think outside the box. I heard that sage can kill bacteria and any of it’s friends that try to land on a surface for up to 30 days after burning sage in each room. I figured for the price, it was worth a try.

The dried sage is a little difficult to keep lit, but applying air as I walked from room to room the smoke dispersed from the bushel and filled the room with a pleasant enough scent. (I actually like it.)

The smell dissipated quickly, and left the room smelling fresh and clean. I have smudged twice now, and glad to say I feel healthy and haven’t had to purchase any new makeup, well, at least because the other was tossed.

I’m going to keep up this ritual every 30 days in hope to maintain a healthy home. You can find smudge sticks in health food stores.

Problem:

Is there a quick tip for sharpening scissors? I remember my grandmother said she used to do something and told me to remember, but honestly I wasn’t paying attention then. Taylor, 26

Tip from Tia:

Yes, she was right. There are two quick, simple and easy ways to sharpen scissors or knives without using the sharpening sticks or stones and you probably already have both things in your kitchen. But, first and foremost, remember to always approach with safety when working with anything sharp.

One, you can use aluminum foil to keep up with the
sharpness. All you need to do is fold it to make a few layers of thickness. For scissors sharpening you just simply cut the foil several times. For knives sharpening, set the foil on a cutting board and cut the foil several times, sliding the whole blade across the foil.

If the scissor or knife blade is really dull, then use steel wool. It will bring back the life of your cutting tools. Do the same process as above, by using the steel wool or a metal scrubbing pad.

Make several cuts with the scissors; it will be a little more challenging to cut than the foil and tends to leave metal flakes behind. With sharpening knives, you may not cut all the way through the steel wool and that is fine, continue to make several swipes over the steel wool as if you were slicing a tomato. The steel wool can also clean off rust stains that may have appeared over the years.

Keep you work area to a minimal using the steel wool, and clean up thoroughly. Steel wool is small shards of metal that can easily puncture your skin giving you a splinter. Wash tools, workspace and
hands thoroughly after you’ve finished.

If you should happen to get a splinter or cut while doing this process clean the wounded area and seek medical attention if necessary.

Favourite Tattoo Styles In 2016

Trends come and go but…tattoos are forever? Yes, during the last couple of years we have witnessed all kinds of tattoo designs that have adorned the bodies of those artistic soles. While some past trends have managed to stay popular for yet another tattoo season, others were not so fortunate. Luckily, 2016 is bringing a lot of fresh and exciting trends that will simply urge you to welcome ink onto your skin at least once more.

They Are Back!

Sometimes conceived as grim and often associated with death and other not-so –pleasant occurrences, these tattoos actually hold much graver meaning than first thought. For ages now, skull tattoos have been a popular choice for both male and female audience and it seems like they are the new denim – they never go out of style. 2016 is welcoming this trend once more, only now with some new and fresh designs that are making these ghastly tattoos one of our absolute favourites. Flames, wings and roses are still popular motifs but a lot of attention has been put on combining skulls with floral and nature motifs and adding just a bit more colour and details.

Complete Blackout

image 4(3)A recent trend that has swiftly taken over the tattoo parlours is made for those ink lovers that are not afraid to step up their game and really go to the extremes. The blackout tattoos are designed to cover large areas of your body in black ink, of course connecting these parts with carefully and edgy lines and embellishing the body with bold and striking designs. The origin of black-work design dates back to Polynesian art but only now has it found its way to our present trends. And by the looks of it – it is here to stay.

Watercolour

image 3(2)For those who are still not fully committed to covering their bodies in massive amounts of black ink, there is another ever-growing trend that allows you to add a bit of colour into your world and opt for a let’s say – a more gentle alternative. Contrary to what you might think, watercolour tattoos are not another trend of body paint, but they are actually tattoo designs simply resembling the blurred and diluted styles of watercolour paintings. They include a variety of subtle colours making it a perfect choice for those who wish to embellish their bodies in more cheerful tones.

Cross-Stitch

A genuine blast to the past can now be achieved through mimicking the fine art of crocheting right there on your body. The wonderful crocheted and knitted designs that our grandmas used to make are now a growing trend among those ink fans that are trying to add a vintage vibe to their personalities. A perfect blend of bright, vivid colours with x shaped designs represents a complete innovation in the tattoo design and it seems like the trend is catching on pretty fast.

Mandala

Are you ready to become one with universe? More people are starting to embrace their spirituality by resorting to mandala tattoos, which represent a spiritual and ritual symbol in Indian religions. These tattoos are focused on balanced structures with a variety of different complex designs that represent your spiritual journey. Whether you want it in colour or you have decided to resort to the sole minimalism of black and white tattoos, it is good to know that this style is observed as one of the best tattoos in Sydney.

image 1(5)Quite similar to fashion, tattoo trends have a tendency of switching with the seasons. From the popular tribal tattoos of the 90s we have managed to arrive here to welcome the latest innovations that 2016 has brought with it. Now all we can do is wait and see what the next season carries in the tattoo department.

Tia’s Note: Be sure to research the tattoo parlor that you plan on attending. It’s important to know and feel comfortable with their process on sterilization and safety.

For anyone thinking about buying stainless steel appliances, the truth is, they can look messy just like any other. Stainless has the ability to show finger prints as well.

Some new technologies offer smudge proof, which maybe worth the extra dollars. But, remember this tip for any of your stainless steel.

Most of the time cleaning with vinegar is very effective. Remember to always rub with the grain. For stains that won’t budge or have appeared to ruin the metal, mix together water and baking soda to make a paste to clean the steel, wipe away with damp cloth and then rub down with olive oil to leave it streak-free. Be sure to buff out with a dry towel to get it to a nice shine and keep the surface from getting sticky.

I Can’t Lose Weight No Matter How Hard I Try. Stupid Tip of the Day:

Stupid Tip of the Day: I Can’t Lose Weight No Matter How
Hard I Try.

Woman Stepping onto Scale

Losing weight can be one of the toughest things some individuals will ever face. The number one thing in losing any amount of weight is being healthy about it. Trying to unload a massive amount of pounds overnight can have dangers. Yet, when dieting, those intending to lose a large amount of weight tend to notice the first few pounds come off quickly and then, the weight loss comes to a screeching halt. The reason for this is the metabolism is in shock of the body’s recent events.

A lot of times, you’ll hear someone state that they gain weight after a certain age, having a baby, or they dieted and gained it back, …and then some. This is because the body’s natural chemistry has changed and changed the way the metabolism worked. Taking metabolism booster supplements can help kickstart your system again, but the body also needs you to change your habit cycles to achieve the results you’re looking for. You can also consider Emsculpt NEO NYC to assist you with their treatments.

So, with that being said, I think it’s good to work out the metabolism first. By working out your metabolism first, it can shift gracefully with the new changes your body is about to endure.

Read: WORKING OUT FOR YOU, NOT YOUR WEIGHT

Get Sleep

The most important thing for the metabolism is proper sleep. ‘Proper’ doesn’t always mean 8 hours, but it does mean quality sleep. If you tend to sleep restlessly or wake up frequently, it affects everything, including your digestion’s system of gathering and expelling what is needed and not needed. It’s best to realize

sooner rather than later that all bodies are not built the same. It has been proven that women should try to get 1-2 hours more sleep than men. This is not always reality, though; when it comes to maintaining the house and/or children something usually takes precedence. It’s my theory that this is one reason some women have a harder time losing pounds.

Getting the proper quality sleep sounds easier than achieving to most people. But it doesn’t have to be that difficult. Adding the amino acid and Gaba into your daily nighttime ritual can help with sleep, your metabolism, and brain—all at the same time. Taking Gaba as a natural sleep aid, along with Melatonin, can give you natural sleep without any grogginess or strange side effects.

Help You System

Once the body’s sleep schedule is on track, the metabolism may need some extra help working properly. The way digestion works is simply complex. Simple, the body either uses the ingested, stores it for later or disposes of it. When the metabolism isn’t working properly, it stores way too much, and that becomes fat. Taking to your doctor about adding a 400 mg. folic acid supplement into your morning routine can really boost the metabolism without sending it into some kind of dangerous overdrive.

Restart You Metabolism

When restarting the metabolism again, eating smaller portions more frequently is beneficial. Small portions are only hard in the beginning, but once you know you can eat every 2-3 hours, starvation isn’t an issue anymore.

These are just a couple of things to do without changing any diet or activity in your life. These natural treatments can make a huge impact on those trying to lose a few pounds to simply maintain a healthy weight. I always suggest keeping your doctor in the loop about any herbs, diet, or exercise you plan on participating in.

Facing weight issues can impact individuals on many levels. Finding a positive outlet to absorb your progress is important in the process. Some individuals involved in weight loss are trying to reach unrealistic goals while being at a healthy weight or slightly over. These people tend to see a different picture.  Remember, not everyone is built the same.

Create Your Own Story

A clinically obese man, John, has taken a healthy start and made a web diary (http://ourpersonaljourney.wordpress.com/) of his struggles and process. John’s story is interesting because he never saw his weight or would let it slow him down in his mind. This journal helps him see his downfalls and accomplishments. Bravely, he’s out there sharing it with others. Sharing with others is not for everyone. But doing something like taking a weekly photo or writing a diary on the positives of your progress will make you face the facts and truths. As we’ve come to learn, mirrors and minds can lie.

Create a journal to see your own results. Believe it or not, this will help you in achieving your weight loss goals.
