Tips for Not Making Mistakes During Divorce

Going through a divorce can be a real emotional roundhouse, especially when there’s no prenup. It’s difficult to think clearly during this period, so you can easily make some wrong decisions. There’s also a lot of anger involved that can translate into words and deeds, which can make your divorce costlier and lengthier. You can also just as easily forget to do something when filing for a divorce that can later make the whole process very frustrating. Here are a couple of tips that will help you avoid mistakes like these during your divorce.

Don’t Fail to Make Your Kids a Priority

Some parents want peace so badly that they start drifting away from their kids once they start going through a divorce. Keeping the peace is a good thing to do but that does not mean you or your ex-spouse should stay away from your kids. You should both respect each other’s time with the kids and never fight around them. They need stability and both parents in their lives. Still, time spent isn’t the only determining factor, but the quality of that time is. Talk to your former spouse and try to come up with an arrangement that is going to suit both of you as well as the kids.

Don’t Overextend Yourself Financially

Your divorce is going to change the way you live completely. That why you’ll have to make some adjustments and try to adapt. One of the things that is going to change quite a lot are your finances. Two households are obviously more difficult to maintain than one, so some changes will have to be made. Because of this, experts recommend going through your finances before you file for divorce, and try to make a plan for the future. These experts are also there to help their clients who want to file for divorce in California with pre-divorce budgeting and planning process.

Don’t Forget What You Owe

When going through a divorce it’s also important to know exactly how much you owe. Promising “to have and to hold†can actually bounce back and bite you. There are some states in the USA where you’ll be responsible for half of your spouse’s debt, even in the case the debt isn’t in your name. Experts in those states advise their clients to get a full credit report so there are no surprises. In other states, you won’t be held responsible for such a debt but you’ll still be liable for any loans or jointly held credit cards. So, depending of the state you live in, you’ll be held responsible for different things.

Don’t Hold onto Properties

Depending on how many properties you and your spouse have, you’ll have to divide them properly once the divorce starts. It’s important to have the whole family in mind and try to come up with a solution that suits everybody the best. If you manage to do so, you can file for an uncontested divorce and make the whole situation easier for everyone. Even in that case you should get all the necessary help. For example if you live in Portland, there are experts who can advise you if you want to file for an uncontested divorce in Oregon. If you end up with a family house, think hard about keeping it because of the maintenance and taxes.

Divorces can be really devastating but if you plan carefully and avoid some common mistakes, you can save yourself a lot of trouble. Once the divorce is through, you can finally focus on moving on with your life.

More Than a Weigh In. Tips on Triggers:

Tips on Triggers: More Than a Weigh In.

Woman Stepping onto ScaleA lot of times when trying to loose weight, people will “hit a wall”. The scale stops being inspiring, because the number stopped reducing. That can trigger feelings of discouragement along with other emotions. Don’t let it bother you.

Easier said then done, I know, but if you keep up with your regimen; other changes are still happening inside your body. And, within a few days to a few weeks the scale will start to move again, sometimes substantially.

That is why I say take weekly pictures too, it will visually show you those subtle differences that can trigger accomplishment and keep you maintaining that good feeling. When you can feel and see the positive changes, you will feel the determination to continue on your road to good health.

Get Your Skin Ready for Sun. By Guest Blogger, Amy G.

Get Your Skin Ready for Sun

Every year we promise ourselves that we will prepare our bodies for the summer on time, and yet it always catches us unprepared. Although the summer is just around the corner, there is still time to get your skin glowing for the beach. Here are a few useful tips to get you started.

  1. Full Body Exfoliation

No matter the season, regular exfoliation should be a part of your skin care routine. While we remember to take care of our face during winter, we often neglect our bodies because they are hidden under layers of clothes. If you have not done it yet, now is the time to exfoliate both your face AND your body. Unless your skin is too sensitive, dermatologists recommend exfoliating once or twice a week to achieve smooth and healthy-looking skin. But be careful – exfoliation is meant to remove only the surface, dead skin cells, without damaging the underlying new layer. Since body skin is a bit rougher, you can use brushes and exfoliating cloths or scrubs with coarse particles, like sugar. On the other hand, avoid using them on your face because they might cause irritation.

  1. Sunscreen as an Everyday Accessory

Freshly exfoliated skin is extremely susceptible to burning. This should be a reason enough to use sunscreen daily. If you are wearing makeup that contains sunscreen, that does not count. The SPF of beauty products is too low to provide an effective UV protection. But any broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 15 will be enough on a regular day. Make it at least 30 if you are heading to the beach. If you are wearing makeup, you should layer sunscreen under it. But remember that you will have to reapply the SPF about every two hours, so you might want to skip the whole makeup thing. Don’t forget that you should wear appropriate clothes to protect your skin in summer. The tighter the knit or weave, the smaller the holes and the less UV can get through. Also, if you have children, you get quality children clothes online that are made from quality fabrics to protect their skin in sunny days.

  1. Switch to Summer Skincare Products

Products that kept your skin feeling hydrated and comfortable during cold and dry winter months may leave it sticky and sweaty once the heat sets in. As the temperatures start to rise and the air becomes more humid, your skin begins to adjust by producing more oil. So, you need to adjust your skincare products accordingly. Pick products that contain lightweight ingredients, such as silicones and glycerine. They will hydrate your skin and leave a breathable barrier. If your skin is prone to breakouts, dab facial oil in dry spots and skip the rest of your face. You may be tempted to use harsh soaps in order to get squeaky clean skin, but this method can only backfire and cause your skin to produce even more oil. Instead, use a gentle facial cleanser such as rose water spray or a foaming face wash.

  1. Get Familiar with the New SPF Regulations

In 2012, the FDA adopted new regulations that redefined

sunscreens as we knew them. The term ‘sunblock’ came out of use because it cannot be scientifically proven that these products completely block sun radiation. New sunscreens are labelled only ‘broad-spectrum’ if they filter out both UVA and UVB rays. SPFs higher than 50 are also a thing of the past since the sky-high digits are not a guarantee of higher protective powers of sunscreen. A SPF 30 filters approximately 97 percent of UVB rays, and SPF 75 cannot be much more effective than that, can it?

With age, these tricks become less effective in providing us youthful-looking skin. This is when you should consider facial rejuvenation. We recommend laser clinics whose experts assure you that facial rejuvenation can improve the look of deep lines and prevent the occurrence of new ones.

Some who don’t like to do it, while others don’t feel they know how to do it properly. If you are one of the latter, here are some basic tips on how to perform pleasure on a man, alleviating any self-confidence issues or embarrassment you may have.

Friends with Benefits or Just a Booty Call? (MA)

Friends with Benefits or Just a Booty Call?

A recent debate ignites over the topic of is there a difference between Friends with Benefits (FWB) and a Booty Call? It appears that it can be taken subjectively by some individuals, but the truth is for most people there is a significant difference.

After tallying a poll between men and women, over a twenty year-old age gap, I found more men than women didn’t really see a difference until being provided with the definition for each. More women than men on the other hand, clearly knew the difference without further explanation.

I found the biggest difference between FWB and a Booty call is being ‘friends’. In today’s world, random sexual encounters are readily available through hookup sites, but to maintain a FWB relationship, one must actually, in fact, have a mutually respected relationship of some form; usually in the form of friends.

So, what’s the point of being FWB and not just dive into a respectful committed relationship? The only reason that seemed to hold any merit is because sex is a mature decision that should always be safe and made with a clear conscience, but nobody wants to get emotionally hurt, right? FWB is a way for some individuals to have mature companionship without a full-blown commitment. Does it make sense? Sure, if you want something steady without feeling locked-down. Unlike random hookups, FWB isn’t a lack of feelings; it actually appears to put feelings and a specific relationship into a different box than the stereotypical caring relationship.

Booty calls and hookups are designed to intentionally disconnect any kind of emotional feelings to where one is able to only partake in a specific physical act.  How many times have you said or heard someone say they have trouble committing? Here’s the ironic part, one must understand sex in itself is a commitment. There is no do-over’s or denial that it happened when it’s finished. It’s a commitment to your partner and to yourself that you have weighed the pros and cons of this physical activity to the fullest and you and both parties are willing to move forth with the act.

So, why does it seem that men are having trouble with the concept of FWB when they (probably) created it? Well, FWB seems to be falling into a grey area since apps have made it easy (and confusing to the ego) to find someone local looking for a casual night. On the other hand, women are more accepting of being FWB, nowadays, since the process of courting or dating is almost non-existent with an extreme all or nothing policy being presented on any given dating site. It’s been mentioned to me that women have found FWB to be an outlet without allowing society pressures to force a decision on ‘is this guy the one or not? ’ or dating sites wanting to know if you’re ready for a marriage or a fling.

It’s important to understand that psychological and physical health that can be impeded by a life full of a plethora of random encounters, but I get it, not everyone is ready to settle down with the first face they find attractive.  Without judgment, I say to each their own- in their own time, but when you are about to engage into any sexual experience, I recommend communicating with your potential partner to be certain which kind of relationship you are getting involved with before you commit in the act of sex, and then come to find out you and your partner are not on the same page. I also believe falling into bed too soon can turn a ‘friend’ into a Booty Call, instantly, if the friendship’s foundation hasn’t had proper time to solidify. (We’ve all heard, at one point in time, from a girlfriend about that guy that was so amazing and funny before they had sex and now she suffers from confusion over his disconnection.)

As a Sexual Heath Tips provider and promoter of safe sex, I will not preach against anyone’s protected sexcapades, but for one to believe sex has the ability to lack any feeling, emotionally, baffles me personally since a human being must use every single muscle group to partake in the act. Those muscles include the brain and the heart. Science has shown the ‘healthiest sex’ is the monogamous kind when it comes to overall physical and emotional health while having the ultimate power to strengthen overall brain function.

So, to wrap this up, (no pun intended)… Is there a difference between FWB and a Booty call? Yes. And it is up to you, the Mature, that feel you are grown up enough to have a physical partner, to decipher which experience you want to commit to. As Evan Marc Katz said, “Men look for sex and find love. Women look for love and find sex.†Although sex feels good, when you find that one partner that is everything you could never imagine existing in one person…well …that feels amazing.
