Get Back On Track And Get Things Done

Get Back On Track And Get Things Done

For many of us, mid-February is the time when our resolutions are waning. After a positive start to the year, our determination falters, and we slip back into old habits. We then feel frustrated and angry at ourselves, but feel overwhelmed and powerless to get back on track.

If you recognize this cycle, then you’re certainly not alone. It’s time to stop beating yourself up and make a few simple, positive changes.

Silence Your Inner Critic

So, you just spent the weekend binging on your latest box set. You slept late and ate fast, processed food. When Monday morning comes around, you’re tired, bloated, and feeling guilty and disgusted at yourself. Dirty dishes are still stacked up in the kitchen, and you haven’t achieved any of your goals.

Put it behind you. The weekend has gone, and this is a new week. Make a fresh list and get stuck in. Silence that critical voice. There’s no point in going over and over what you haven’t done. Just make a start on doing it.

Split Tasks

Often, we fail in achieving our goals because we take on too much. We were over ambitious in what we could reasonably achieve. It helps to make a list of all the things you want to complete over a long period of time. But it’s not helpful to look at in its entirety. Have you ever felt completely overwhelmed because you have so much to do? And the result was that you did nothing?

Try splitting your tasks into manageable chunks. Prioritize and focus on one thing at a time. This will help you adopt good habits. Work out which of the items would bring about the most benefit and tackle those first. Even if you tick one item off your list or make one simple change in your life, it’s something. And it’s certainly better than doing nothing at all.

Delegate

You don’t have to do everything yourself. In fact, it’s not advisable to do so. Wherever possible, split tasks with your family or work colleagues, etc. Make use of local services such as City Appliance Repair, who will fix broken appliances in super-fast time. This will free up your time and allow you to tick off another item from your to-do list.

Tackle Short Tasks

If you find you have a build-up of short tasks, re-think how you’re planning your time. If tasks take a couple of minutes to complete, get them out of the way immediately. For example, opening and filing post, washing your coffee cup, putting magazines or books away after use. These are the little things that mount up if left and end up taking much longer.

Plan Your Weekends

People often find that they waste time at the weekend. They set out with all good intentions but get lost along the way. Try planning your weekends in the same way you would plan your working days. You don’t have to be as strict, of course. After all, it is the weekend, and you should have some time off. But it helps to have a few things planned to ensure you stay on track. And remember to schedule some time to do the things you enjoy.

What If You Have No Time?

Finally, it’s worth mentioning time. Many of us lead busy lives, something that is part of modern living. But is it true that you have no time? As a simple exercise, try writing down everything you do in a week. You’ll be amazed how much time you spend watching television or scrolling through your phone. Think of how much time you could save or put to better use if you switched off your screens for a few hours.

A Smile A Day Keeps the Dentist Away

A Smile A Day Keeps the Dentist Away

Our teeth go through a lot in their lifetime. If we live past the age of 70, it is likely that we will have lost the majority of them through natural decay; the lifespan of a tooth has not evolved in the same way as our general lifespan has, as the years have gone by and been kinder to us.

There are so many ways to treat our teeth the way that they deserve to be treated, yet many of us rarely do it (only half of us admit to keeping up a regular flossing routine). So what can we do to ensure our smile never fades?

Floss

So as previously stated, only half of us floss. The main reason that a number of us don’t is because we haven’t been brought up with it as habit (i.e. shown to us as a positive thing to do by parents or another figure that we would’ve looked up to as children), so it is imperative that if you have a child, you show them what to do when they are age-appropriate. Flossing has evolved so that you don’t even have to rely on the traditional dental-string now to get in between your teeth – interdental brushes such as those made by Wisdom and TePe are gaining in popularity due to dentist recommendations, and come in different sizes to ensure a more thorough clean than traditional floss could ever provide.

Brush Properly

It may sound incredibly patronizing, as it is something that we have been doing every day for years, but do you know how to brush your teeth? Have a quick search online for how best to do it. You may be thinking that the whiter your teeth are is a good indicator of how good your brushing technique is, but the colour of your teeth isn’t the main thing that dentists are looking for to show that you are up keeping a good routine. There are things to help you get your teeth looking whiter if brushing isn’t helping – look for reviews on the best teeth whitening strips for a quicker solution if any whitening toothpaste that you have invested in isn’t working as well as you had hoped.

Drink More

Certain drinks stain – certainly the notable ones like coffee, tea and wine – and not just your carpets if spilt. They can cause marks to appear on teeth that may be hard to get off, if you can get them off at all without cosmetic help. If you drink more water, not only will this help with your general health and wellbeing, but it is also extremely good for your teeth. Any food debris that you have floating around your mouth will be washed away with water without causing any other damage, and it will help your mouth to keep lubricated with saliva. As gross as this sounds, saliva is actually your friend – it contains enamel-strengthening enzymes which fight against tooth decay and help to keep your mouth a happy one.

Let’s Get Adulting! Five Things You Must Invest In

Let’s Get Adulting! Five Things You Must Invest In

Time is ticking on and at some point we’ll all have to admit that we’re – gasp! – real live adults. As you grow up, your priorities tend to change – you decide that staying out until 4am every Friday night isn’t your idea of how to have a good time any more, and you also decide that the sort of moody bad boy who always used to win your heart really isn’t worth your energy. The rest of your life starts to change too as your finances change and you decide what you should be spending money on these days. Here are five things that you should start to invest in as you get older…

Skincare

Noticing fine lines around your eyes? Aren’t we all? It feels disastrous but at the same time they’re a little bit like war wounds: we’re proud of them because they demonstrate that we’ve grown up over the years it’s taken to get those fine lines, and that we’ve become wiser as well as older. That doesn’t mean that we aren’t going to moisturise the heck out of them until they start to fade. Make sure that you keep your skin hydrated with a good quality moisturiser – you want it to glow, after all – and wear night cream and eye cream every night.

Staple Clothing Items

Boots, bags, jeans and jackets: those are the clothes items that you need to start investing in because once you find the perfect ones, believe me – you’re going to want them to last forever. Choose great quality materials like buttery leather and well-sewn thick denim with a little stretch in it so that you can stay comfortable.

Furniture

If you’re starting to outgrow your Ikea phase it’s time to invest in furniture that doesn’t come in flatpacks and require you to ask your friend’s boyfriend to come over with his screwdriver to put it all together for you. Start picking out items from Plum Goose or other sites that tempt you – add some beauty and style to your home, and pick furniture that will last the test of time.

Your Friends

Your most important commodity is time, so you should spend it on what matters most to you, which should of course be people. Maintaining your friendships as you get older requires much more time and work than it did when you were at school, so it’s crucial that you overcome that end of the week tiredness to peel yourself out of bed and meet your best friend on Saturday morning for brunch. If you don’t have kids yet, then you might do one day, and it’ll be an even bigger test of your friendship and time – make sure you don’t fall at the first hurdle.

Your Future

More than anything you should be investing in yourself. You are the most precious thing in your life and your future should be something that you focus on. Take classes for further qualifications in your chosen field and put in the extra hours at work, or take relevant volunteering or interning placements. It may be tough in the meantime, but investing in your future will be the best thing you ever do.

The Reason Why Your House Is A Haven For Dust

The Reason Why Your House Is A Haven For Dust

Ah, dust! It gets everywhere in our home. And it can be a nightmare to ensure your home stays dust-free. After all, you want it gone quickly so that your home stays hygienic. And not only that, but you need to protect your family by making it dust-free. After all, dust can make your family start coughing. And it’s a nightmare for people with allergies who are living in your home. If you are finding there seems to be more than ever dust in your home, here are some reasons why it’s becoming a haven for dust.

You aren’t cleaning enough

When was the last time you gave your home a proper clean? If you are guilty of leaving it for ages, it is likely to be the cause of your dust problem. After all, dust will slowly pile up if it’s not cleaned away properly. And the more you get, the more it will be harmful to your family. Therefore, it’s time to step up and make sure you are cleaning your home regularly. Set a specific time you are going to do it such as on a Monday night. And then you can whiz around the home making sure it’s nice and tidy. And if you haven’t got the time to do any cleaning, you should arrange for a cleaning company to tidy your home. That way, you won’t be overwhelmed with dust in your humble abode.

The air isn’t filtering properly

If you are finding your home has become a haven for dust, it might be that the air isn’t filtering around your home properly. That will cause a buildup of dust in your property and can also make your family suffer from allergies. It’s often down to the humidity levels in your home if the air isn’t filtering properly. After all, if it’s too high, you will find that dust mites will thrive in your home. And you are likely to have more airborne dust on your property. You can contact a company about coming to fit some humidifiers in your home. That way, it will ensure the air filters around your home properly. You can look on sites like http://www.savehomeheat.com/ for more information on how to get these installed.

You are missing certain areas

You might also be facing a lot of dust in your home, which is causing breathing difficulties for your family, as you are missing certain areas. For example, you might be forgetting to clean under the bed which can be a haven for dust. Or you might be missing the light fittings. As we said before, you might not realize as it isn’t at eye level, but a lot of dust can gather on these light shades. Therefore, give these less obvious areas a good clean so dust won’t build up in your home.

And if you have carpets in your home, you might find more dust builds up. As it says on familyhandyman.com, carpets are a world-class dust collector! After all, with hardwood floor, it can be much easier to spot it and clean it away quickly. Therefore, you might want to change the flooring for the sake of the amount of dust in your home.

in-a-relationship-and-move-on

Being in a relationship gives one a happy and exciting feeling. It allows one to feel so blessed, special, and extraordinary with the care and treatments were given to the person. Everyone hopes to find the right person who will treat them exceptionally, who will support them all the way, and who will bring out the best in them.

Some people are lucky enough to find this special person in an early stage of their life. While some are still struggling so hard waiting and finding for this special someone to be in a relationship. Others are blinded and unaware that the previously happy relationships are starting to fall apart. This part of life can cause major sadness and depression due to the hurts and pain.

It is also at this point of life that one should learn to accept the things that happened to be able to let go of the past and move on. A lot of ways can be done to ensure new joy and happiness in life. This can be easily achieved by following simple steps or tips on how to get over the past and become a renewed person.

Practice releasing regrets

People tend to dwell on the wrong things done which allow the end and the changes in the relationship. This may seem productive for some time. However, it should come to an end. One should instead focus on the good side and things that happened in life. Remember that a lot of people are there to support and to help.  These people will help to let go of the feelings by short conversations. But remember not to be so hard and drown the entire feelings to them. Always focus on the positive side of life and always pull one to be the best.

Express your pain – and your responsibility

One should know to express the pain that made you feel hurt. It is important to get all the pain out of your system. Doing this will enable one to fully understand the reason behind the sufferings and pain. One of the most common ways that can be used to express oneself is through writing. This can include writing in a journal or in the form of a letter. Write anything and everything to make one feel better. Remember that the pain being felt is normal and will go away in time. Learn from the mistakes and use this to move on with the next phases of life.

Stop being the victim and blaming others

When pain arises, it is always good to feel like a victim or being on the winning side of the team. However, keep in mind that the world doesn’t care about it. The pain that one is feeling is only a part of the big scenario in life. Refrain from focusing on one aspect only, instead focus on the complex picture of life. The choice of living peacefully and meaningfully simply relies on the choice of the person. A person should always choose the bright side of life. It is their responsibility to start feeling good again, pursues happiness, and enjoys life to the fullest.

Recognize and replace fearful thoughts

Always learn to recognize mistakes and the possible consequences of every action. Once fear is felt, pray and know how to replace the sad thoughts in one’s mind. Never be afraid to face the new challenges that the changes have to offer. Some opt to choose the hard way. This includes legal actions such as services from the DeRoberts Law Firm. It may be fearful at times but may be rewarding as well. Always embrace changes and recognize several thoughts. If positive thoughts are present, continue thinking and inspiring. But f negative thoughts arise; replace the thoughts with a positive outlook on life.

Focus on the present

Always focus on the present happenings. Stop thinking of the past things that occurred and stop reliving the memories that it gives. Remember that the past situations can no longer be undone. Consider today o the present day as the best phase of life and enjoy every single detail of it. Give time for healing and using the past experiences as helps motivate to become a better person in the present. One should give a big room for anything positive in the present rather than stay in the shadows of the past.

Forgive yourself and others

The first step in achieving the goal of forgetting the past and moving on is to forgive oneself. The change should always start in oneself. Accept the fact that something wrong was done. It is also necessary that one forgive others who have hurt them. Without forgiveness, one will be stuck in pain and agony. Do not be afraid to forgive one and others since it is not a sign of weakness. Forgiveness is also a way of seeing things from another point of view. The step of forgiveness is a way to live in the future with all the peace, joys, and happiness in life.

Life is full of surprises. Always remember that there are ups and downs. Learn to enjoy life to the fullest. Enjoy every single detail that it has to offer. If pains and hurts arise, never ever give up, it is just temporary. Instead, learn to accept defeat and pain, stand up, and face life again. Keep in mind; you only live once (YOLO).
