Stupid Tip of the Day: Cotton Swabs for your Ears.

The reason this becomes a Stupid Tip of the Day, is because the cotton swabs may feel good cleaning out your ears, yet, it has been a huge debate on ear health for years.

The ears have a natural cleaning system, where sometimes they do need a little help from over the counter products. But, Doctors say, that using these cotton swabs, can push more back into the ear than, get out. After you’ve pushed wax back into the ear repeatedly; it builds up to a larger mass that clogs the canal and can cause major damage.

So, if the ear is clogged or has water swishing around, instead of using a cotton swab, try to use gravity and heat.

Turn your head; clog side down. Gently, use a hair dryer on a low setting, around the ear, see if that helps. A great way to loosen a was clog, is by using a heating pad. Which, I think is great for sinuses, but also has a thinning ability to thick wax and mucus. Lay down with the clog side on the heating pad, and let your ears open up. Watch the level of the heating pad, so you don’t burn yourself.

If you still have issues with clogs and water, contact your doctor for more options and to make sure the ears are in good working condition.

Cotton swabs have many good uses, but, maybe not the best for the ears, is still a good question.

Quickie: De-Fog the Mirror after the Shower.

The steam of the shower can fog up the whole bathroom, including the mirror. Not letting the steam stay built up in the bathroom once you finished cleansing is important, so turning on the exhaust fan or opening doors will help clear and dry the room out.

But, if you are in a hurry to use the mirror, a quick tip to defog the mirror quickly is use a hair dryer. A hair dyer will cut down the time from minutes to seconds, so you can see a clear reflection again.

Tips on Triggers: Relieve Nasal Congestion.

So if your nose is stuffy, pressing along each side of the nose helps as well as massaging the head. But, here is a good spot that is not thought of. Apply pressure on both sides of the chin. Press with a comfortable amount of pressure and hold for and minute or so, to help clear the passageways.

Stupid Tip of the Day: Just Because You’re on a Diet, Doesn’t Mean You Can’t Look at the Menu.

This is the stupidest tip, I’ve ever heard, Those that give this tip, should be slapped. And those that follow it, should be tied down and slapped harder. (Hitting is never appropriate; I know) If you haven’t noticed, the obesity and divorce rates are at and all time high, thanks to a tip like this, being used literally and metaphorically.

Have you ever heard of this situation… Even if the wealthiest man, believes he is deprived, he will commit actions, to self sabotage all that he has, and end up miserable. Yet, a poor man, who is grateful for all that he has, will receive more that is satisfying, and find happiness in his life.

I’m going to keep this simple, because the truth really is this simple. Don’t look. The truth is, be satisfied with what you have, providing you with health and happiness.

The foods you’re eating on a specific diet, are keeping you healthy and probably helping you lose or maintain a goal weight and seeing those results, will make you happy.

If the person you are in a relationship with, is probably, most of the time, making you happy; And staying faithful, that is keeping you healthy. See, Sex as a Fountain of Youth?

If either, your diet or relationship has become dull; spice it up, with what you’ve already got.

The only thing that comes from looking at menus, that you shouldn’t be looking at, is, seeing something that may look good, building it in your mind that you have to have it, getting it, but it’s never as good, as you’d expect. All that it is going to do, is bring you is an unhealthy, upset stomach, that will make you very unhappy and very sick, in the long run. Stick to your own menu, you’ll be grateful and appreciate yourself, that you did.

Make Spreadable Chocolate.

Whether you are wanting to be romantic or have a family fun project, there’s always a joy when it comes to chocolate. Chocolate dipped strawberries, pretzels or anything dipped in chocolate, makes a special occasion, out of an evening. But, the prep time can be messy and long. So, why not make it easy on yourself and make a spreadable chocolate, that you can go back to enjoying, time and time again, so you don’t over indulge in one sitting. Because, chocolate had many helpful properties, but too much, can just leave a person feeling sick.

Get the left over chocolates from the holiday, or a big bag of chocolate chips or your just a favorite bag of chocolate. Put into a sauce pan. Add a 1/2 cup cooking oil, whichever oil you prefer is fine, since different oils have certain tastes to them.

Turn on the heat and stir continuously, until the chocolate is melted. remove from heat into a glass or metal bowl, dip now to cover or let cool to use as a spread. To store, use a container with a lid to store for freshness. Refrigeration is not necessary. Chocolate made need to be microwaved for 25-30 seconds to soften, after a couple days of sitting out or after being in the refrigerator. Shelf life depends upon storage and room temp. Ours never last more than a few days because it gets eaten. But, be sure to discard, if the chocolate has a whitish look or oil separates from chocolate.
