Tips on Triggers: Wake Up With the Scent of Grapefruit.

The smell of grapefruit is a great trigger to wake up. It has a refreshing burst of smell that helps the senses get going. Grapefruit is not the fruit of choice by everyone to eat, and if you’re on certain medications, grapefruit can be a huge no no, but using scent can help.

Grapefruit comes in an extract. Adding a couple drops to your shampoo is a great way to get the scent without long term smell, but you will get long term benefits. Grapefruit is great for the scalp if it is dry, has dandruff or any fungal build up.

Not only will you feel more awake with grapefruit, it will absorb into the pores and unclog them, leaving you with a clean healthy scalp.

If you are on medication check with your doctor, before add any kind of grapefruit into your regimen.

Smart Phones Make you Smarter? Stupid Tip of the Day:

Smart Phones Make you Smarter? Stupid Tip of the Day:

A majority of us have them. We work and play from them. But, are we connected to something that isn’t the best thing for us?

Despite the name, smart phones have allowed humans to make stupid choices. Stupid choices like, texting and driving, committing stupid crimes to video for the sake of humor and infidelity are just to name a few.

The devices have had benefits as well, being able to locate, look up and connect when being used for good can be a very good thing.

There is good and bad; like any magic, smart phones, social networking and apps come with a price. Studies have just proven the majority of subjects that devote 1 hour daily, “plugged in” dropped their I.Q. by 10 points. Those participants that spent over an hour, were close to dropping 10 points an hour. Those participants that used their smart phones for business or mindful things were less to not effected at all.

Moral of the story. Work out your brain properly. Only devote a small amount of time to social networks if possible. Stay away from mindless activities on the phone for long periods of time. And, when it comes to the kids… Schedule structured time for them to learn and interact face to face with family and peers.

There is a big difference from learning information like recipes on the internet than, scrolling through what someone ate today.

Flowers Last Longer in Cold Water. Stupid Tip of the Day:

By Tia Cristy

Stupid Tip of the Day: Flowers Last Longer in Cold Water.

After a lot of flowers were sold last week. Some Valentine’s are trying to get the longest life out of those bouquets. Putting flowers in cold water is not really the way to go.

Flowers actually last longer in lukewarm water. It prevents the shock factor of temperature being too cold for the bloom.

Remember, petals don’t last very long in the cold months and it’s the same concept if you put the stems in too cold of water.

If you want to hold on the the flowers longer than usual, dry them out. Best way to dry-out is by removing them from the water before they loose too many petals. Then secure the stems together with a rubber band. Turn and hang upside down for several days till the flowers are completely dry.

Sanitize Undergarments After an Infection. Quickie:

Quickie: Sanitize Undergarments After an Infection.

Yeast infections and Bacterial infections can effect a lot of women during hormonal changes, adding in new medications, allergic reactions, etc. These infections can affect men as well. Passing them back and forth can be a nightmare. Disposing of underwear can help but can also be expensive.

Here’s a tip to sanitize your underwear to kill the yeast and bacteria and eliminating reinfection from that source.

Wash underwear together, separate from other clothing. Add in vinegar or grapefruit extract to the washer to kill off the majority. Then before you put the undergarments into the dryer, (Important: Make sure there is no metal or sparkles on the underwear) place damp underwear on a paper towel, and put in the microwave for 2 minutes on high. (caution: underwear will be very hot when removing from microwave.)

This will kill the remainder of the bacteria and yeast. Immediately, place in dryer to dry the underwear.

The microwave is fine because, all the bad stuff died in the intense heat, but some people feel the need to clean the microwave after this purpose. Sanitize microwave by using a bowl of water in the microwave for 3 minutes on high to allow steam to kill anything left over. Wipe down with a clean cloth or paper towel. Repeat this process until infection completely clears up.

Push Through the Pain. Stupid Tip of the Day:

By Tia Cristy

Stupid Tip of the Day: Push Through the Pain.

This tip is true and false. Pushing through the pain of working out can help you build strength and gain muscle. But, pushing through that pain, where something feels over stretched can cause a long-term problem. Men tend to do this more than women, but anyone who does a physical activity should know this.

If you are playing a sport or doing a new workout, and you feel a tightness starting to kick in it’s best to pause and see if the pain subsides. Not all of us have a coach or trainer helping us on a daily basis. But, speaking with one before starting out could also be a great benefit in helping you in understanding your body.

A great example, stretching you legs; to gain more flexibility you stretch the leg until you feel the burn. Then you pause, and the burn subsides. The next stretch you do with that leg, you will have gained a bit more flexibility. Now, if you were to bounce the leg to make it stretch further too quickly, you could cause harm to the muscle, ligaments and tendons.

Getting a cramp when working out or running is a sign of dehydration, pausing to drink water or electrolytes can restore your body’s water supply.

Pushing yourself the little extra distance can boost strength and endurance. But, pushing yourself too far, too fast can effect you for a lifetime. Be smart and know your body when doing any physical activities.
