2015 is the Year of Nails: 8 Hottest Nail Trends to Watch Out For
Mani fans, listen up! 2015 is going to be the year of surprising nail trends and you’re definitely going to want to try them. Remember Rita Ora’s $56,000 VMA manicure last year? And what about the ombré, marble and nail, tape trends – will they stay or will they go? It’s time to find out what your nails are in for in 2015!

1. Negative Space is Positive Taste

Short nails are definitely in for the coming spring and with it the A+ trend of negative space nail art. By not painting in creative shapes, you can craft pretty and eye catching art on your fingertips. Crescents, stripes, chevron, you name it – they can all be designed by cleverly using some tape.

2. Criss-cross Your HeART
2One of the biggest trends for the Spring/Summer runways, carefully painted criss-crosses seem to have taken over. It’s the perfect nail look for sophisticated events, parties and even for when you say, “I do.†Such nail art is taught by reputed beauty schools such as Marinello all over the country, so if you’re interested in learning nail art, you shouldn’t have any trouble getting the training you need for it.

3. Pretty in Pastel 3
Who says you need glitter to look glamorous? Sheer, nude and glossy pastel shades are in! It may surprise you, but that age old beauty tip – “keep it simple,†applies to manicures too! The best part is, you won’t need a fancy artist to do it for you – it’s easy enough to do at home.
4. Think Linear Thoughts
If you can recall Sarah Hyland’s 2014 Emmys manicure you know you can’t go wrong with nail tape. It adds elegance to dainty tips and is super easy to use. It’s no wonder the trend is still popular, and will remain so. Don’t be surprised if you see it again on the red carpet this year.

5. Double French Tips
4French manicures are classy by themselves, but add a little twist to it and you’ve started a new trend. Two different polishes, a steady brush and ready fingertips and you’ve got a cute manicure you can wear for a bachelorette party.

6. Ombré Monday to Friday
Even those not really into fashion noticed the trend of half dyed hair. Blending a color into another became popular enough to try on nails and what a trend it has turned into! Ombré nails will not be ushered out anytime soon. If you didn’t try it last year, 2015 gives you a whole new chance!

7. Geometrical Patterns

8Triangles, squares, rectangles – you can make the Pythagorean Theorem fun with a shapely pattern on your fingernails. With a little creativity, you can create your own never-before-seen mani. It’s guaranteed you’ll want to experiment with this trend more than once.

8. In 3/4 Time
Going geometric is gorgeous, but if you’d prefer something simpler, simply paint ¼ of a nail one color, and the remaining ¾ another. Nail art doesn’t get simpler than that – and it doesn’t look too shabby either. Here’s to another nail trend you can try at home!

New year, new resolutions, new fashions and new nails. Give your tips a treat this year and try out a few of these nail art trends to celebrate 2015.

What Skincare Routine You Should Follow Based on Your Skin Type

This article was submitted by Cosmetology & Spa Academy. Located in Illinois, CSA is a beauty school with over 30 years of experience in the cosmetology, esthetics and beauty industry.

When it comes to skincare, your unique skin type should determine what types of treatments you apply. The same cream or gel won’t work for each person because these solutions are designed with particular skin types in mind. It’s not a one size fits all industry. Below, we delve deeper into the issue and provide some advice as to how to properly treat each unique skin type.

The Many Skin Types
When you broach the subject of skin type, the first thing that you should do is forget all that you have learned from aestheticians, magazines and so-called experts on television.
They have one common goal and that is to sell you more skincare items. This means that they have not told you the entire truth about skincare and skin types.
While the standard categories of dry and oily are good starting points, they do not shed light on the grey area that most of us fall into. Most people do not have overly dry or overly oily skin.
They tend to fall in between these extremes. Think about all of the people who suffer from acne, eczema, rosacea and sun damage. Their skin types don’t fall within the rigid categories of oily and dry.
Consider how skin types can change according to hormones, environmental and biological stresses and even weather. Each unique skin type will require a distinct product formulation.
The key is to educate yourself about the nuances of each skin type to determine the proper treatment. You can learn the intricacies of each type of skin from an esthetics program. This way, you will know how to treat your skin when its type alters due to factors like the incorporation of a new medication, changes in your diet, picking up a smoking habit, hormonal changes, sun exposure etc.

Skincare Solutions Can Actually Be Problems
It is imperative to understand that certain skincare products can actually make your skin worse. Numerous products are designed to treat one specific skin type or skin problem but contain ingredients that will irritate other skin types and produce a brand new problem. Consider the skincare products designed to treat acne. Many have a substantial amount of alcohol or problematic ingredients like citrus or peppermint that can actually irritate the skin and cause even more oil to be produced.

Many people have never identified their actual skin type because they have been using products with ingredients that produce the problems that they thought to be intrinsic to their skin.
Always look at your skin products’ ingredients list to see what you are really applying to your face and body. Give yourself some time in between products to fully understand your skin’s true type and how it really behaves. Beware of troublesome ingredients like thick emollients, abrasive scrubbing agents, pore clogging waxes, organic and synthetic irritants, menthol, alcohol and citrus.

Skin Types
Consider that your face likely has a combination of skin types. More oil is produced from the glands at the center of your face so you will likely have more clogged pores in this area. Take a shower, apply a gentle cleanser and use a toner with antioxidants and ingredients that repair skin. Leave it alone for a couple of hours to see how your skin reacts. This will help you determine your true skin type.

• If your skin has excess oil or oily areas combined with dry areas after you’ve waited 4 hours after cleansing your skin, your skin type is “oilyâ€.
• Those who experience moderate breakouts during hormone cycles have “acne†or “blemish-prone†skin type.
• If your skin appears flaky and tight, your skin type is “dry.â€
• Those who experience redness with or without bumps but no acne likely have a “sensitive / rosacea†skin type.
• Individuals with reddish skin or dry flaky patches that itch, swell or burn have eczema.
• If you experience fine lines and/or discolorations, your skin is likely sun damaged.
• Those with lines around the cheeks, mouth and eyes have aging/wrinkled skin.
• Normal skin is characterized by no indications of dryness or oiliness.

Treatment
Once you have determined your true skin type, it is time to choose the proper formula. It is true that each type of skin can benefit from certain ingredients present in a wide variety of skincare solutions. Yet there are distinct ingredients in some skincare products that are meant specifically for one unique skin type. For example, those who suffer from acne will need to treat their skin with benzoyl peroxide.
In general, creams, serums and lotions work best on dry skin. Liquids and gels work best on oily skin or skin that is prone to blemishes. Combination skin types can be treated with all types of skin care solutions but for powders and creams. Individuals with sensitive skin / rosacea can treat with all skincare types but for powder based solutions.

Those who suffer from aging skin with wrinkles or sun-damaged skin will be best served by avoiding liquid and powder based skincare products.

Those with normal skin often benefit the most from serums and light lotions but they can use just about any type of skincare product without significant worries. It is important to point out that most people have different skin types on the face. Therefore, it is prudent to use specific skincare products in each unique section of the face as appropriate.

How to make, baking cookies into a spa day.

TipsfromTia.com Milk and Cookies with Note Reading

Problem:

It’s the holiday season and I know it’s the time for giving, but I just feel like I need time for me. Is there any pampering ideas I can do at home? Jane, 25

Tip from Tia:

It’s the holidays, and what good are the holidays without cookies to indulge you. So why not indulge yourself to the fullest, by making delicious cookies and getting a home spa treatment all in one. This tip will get you ready to fill your house with the sweet smell of cookies, while you pander to yourself. All you need are some simple cookie ingredients to make it a sweet spa day. We’ll first start with making the cookies. This first part is easy enough, even if you’ve never made them before. The recipe measurements are on the back of that yellow bag of Peanut Butter & Milk Chocolate Morsels, follow the Directions.

PREHEAT oven to 375 degrees

COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt into small bowl. Beat
butter sticks, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in a large
mixing bowl until creamy. Add one egg at a time beating well. Gradually add in
flour mixture from small bowl. Stir in morsels and nuts. Now, use a rounded
table spoon to scoop out the dough to make a good size cookie. Place dough on an
un-greased baking sheet.

BAKE for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking
sheets for 2 minutes than move to wire racks to cool completely. (I prefer using lots of foil when I make mine. One sheet of foil for each batch I’m about to cook, and then just remove the foil from the baking sheet and stack up as they cool, this makes really soft cookies.)

While the cookies cool, it’s time to delight you with a
Sweet Spa day Treatment. All you need are the following ingredients to make 3
separate pampering tips.

Ingredients

  • 1
    teaspoon baking soda
  • 1
    stick of butter
  • 1
    teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2
    large eggs
  • 1 2/3
cups Peanut Butter & Milk Chocolate Morsels
    (softened)
  • 1
    tablespoon honey

Face First:

Take the 1 tablespoon honey, 1 egg and mix it with ½ stick
of butter. Blend until it has a thick consistency. You just made a simple
facial mask. Apply to fine lines around the eyes, forehead and laugh lines. Let
stand for 5 minutes and wash off.

Brighten that smile:

Next take the baking soda and mix with water to make a
paste. Then apply to your teeth. Let the paste stand on teeth for 4-10 minutes,
than brush teeth as usual. This is the safest way to brighten up that smile for
those holiday photos.

Hair a silky as
butter:

Then take the excess baking soda, ½ stick of butter, 1
teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 large egg, 1 2/3 cups Peanut Butter & Milk Chocolate Morsels (softened). Blend all together. This
has created a delicious hair masque. Apply to hair and let sit for 30 minutes
than shampoo and condition as usual. This will help with any breakage or
damage.

So there you have it, a home spa while your cookies are
cooling. Then, you can feel completely guilt free whether you eat or decide to package up
the cookies for your friends and family. And, don’t forget to save some for Santa!

Change Your Eyebrows When Changing Hair Color. Quickie:

Quickie: Change Your Eyebrows When Changing Hair Color.
TipsfromTia.com Woman's Eyes and Nose

If changing your hair color drastically, don’t forget to accent your eyebrows, if needed. If a professional is dying your hair, ask about your eyebrows. They can put a quick treatment on the brows, to blend with your new locks.

If you’re doing your hair yourself, I recommend changing the brows with a brow pencil. Less room for error. Remember, brow color usually lightens with age. Investing in a brow pencil early, to keep a natural look, could be a good way to go.

5 Wedding Day Tips You Can’t Afford to Ignore

Wedding planning can seem extremely daunting. From invitations and photo shoots to catering plans and wedding dress selection, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. While there is a ton of planning to be done prior to the wedding, there are a few tips that can help you get through the day without a hitch. Below are five tips to ensure your wedding day is as perfect as you deserve!
Be Organized

OK, this tip might seem obvious, but it is true. The more organized you are before the wedding, the better the actual day will go. Do not feel bad about being organized. Your wedding party, family, and extra helpers will really appreciate it. Assign duties to anyone that you can. The less you have to do, the better.

Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff

On your wedding day things will not go perfect. It is a fact of life. Pictures might run late or a bouquet for the altar might not arrive. If these (or any other mishap) should happen, do not fret! Just stay calm and relax. Usually the things that happen are little, and most guests will not even notice if something is missing. The most important thing that is happening is marrying the love of your life.

Have Someone Take Snapshots

You will have hired a photographer, but they will be taking all the professional photos. Ask a friend or family member to be taking photos of events going on throughout the day – getting ready, right after the ceremony, during the reception and dance, etc. Those are moments that you want captured on photo too!

Have Safety Pins on Hand

While this may seem simple enough, it’s something that many people overlook. The bustle on dresses often times break. A safety pin can help keep the dress up.

Get Food to Go

The day of your wedding is a complete whirlwind. It goes by so fast that you probably won’t remember much of it years later. Some bride’s and groom’s hardly remember to eat. Ask your caterer to pack up some food for you in a tray. You might eat some at the reception, but most couples get so busy visiting with guests that they rarely have time to eat. Caterers like McHale’s Events and Catering are really great at working with the bride and groom. Ask them to set aside some food for you to take back to the hotel later. There is a good chance you will be pretty hungry when the night is over!

Sure, many of the tips included above may seem obvious at first glance, but following them will help you avoid a wedding day diasaster!
