Tips for Not Making Mistakes During Divorce

Going through a divorce can be a real emotional roundhouse, especially when there’s no prenup. It’s difficult to think clearly during this period, so you can easily make some wrong decisions. There’s also a lot of anger involved that can translate into words and deeds, which can make your divorce costlier and lengthier. You can also just as easily forget to do something when filing for a divorce that can later make the whole process very frustrating. Here are a couple of tips that will help you avoid mistakes like these during your divorce.

Don’t Fail to Make Your Kids a Priority

Some parents want peace so badly that they start drifting away from their kids once they start going through a divorce. Keeping the peace is a good thing to do but that does not mean you or your ex-spouse should stay away from your kids. You should both respect each other’s time with the kids and never fight around them. They need stability and both parents in their lives. Still, time spent isn’t the only determining factor, but the quality of that time is. Talk to your former spouse and try to come up with an arrangement that is going to suit both of you as well as the kids.

Don’t Overextend Yourself Financially

Your divorce is going to change the way you live completely. That why you’ll have to make some adjustments and try to adapt. One of the things that is going to change quite a lot are your finances. Two households are obviously more difficult to maintain than one, so some changes will have to be made. Because of this, experts recommend going through your finances before you file for divorce, and try to make a plan for the future. These experts are also there to help their clients who want to file for divorce in California with pre-divorce budgeting and planning process.

Don’t Forget What You Owe

When going through a divorce it’s also important to know exactly how much you owe. Promising “to have and to hold†can actually bounce back and bite you. There are some states in the USA where you’ll be responsible for half of your spouse’s debt, even in the case the debt isn’t in your name. Experts in those states advise their clients to get a full credit report so there are no surprises. In other states, you won’t be held responsible for such a debt but you’ll still be liable for any loans or jointly held credit cards. So, depending of the state you live in, you’ll be held responsible for different things.

Don’t Hold onto Properties

Depending on how many properties you and your spouse have, you’ll have to divide them properly once the divorce starts. It’s important to have the whole family in mind and try to come up with a solution that suits everybody the best. If you manage to do so, you can file for an uncontested divorce and make the whole situation easier for everyone. Even in that case you should get all the necessary help. For example if you live in Portland, there are experts who can advise you if you want to file for an uncontested divorce in Oregon. If you end up with a family house, think hard about keeping it because of the maintenance and taxes.

Divorces can be really devastating but if you plan carefully and avoid some common mistakes, you can save yourself a lot of trouble. Once the divorce is through, you can finally focus on moving on with your life.

With the temperatures soaring in the hot months, many people tend to get heat exhaustion. It can come on very quickly and very simply.

It is best if you feel symptoms of fatigue, dizziness and nausea, to get
out of the heat as quickly as possible. Be sure to stay hydrated with
water. (If you haven’t found yourself urinating in a long time during
the heat, start pounding glasses of water)

So, an easy way to keep your core temperature down, is to put ice or cool compresses on key areas for a short period of time frequently. Those areas are wrists (above the palms), behind the ear lobes, ankles and inner thighs (for extreme heat conditions). Cooling these areas will help you beat the heat and keep symptoms of exhaustion at bay for a little while.

Maintain Good Health with a Teaspoon of Sour.

Maintain Good Health with a Teaspoon of Sour.

TipsfromTia.com Lemons in White BowlWhen a 90 year old woman was asked what she did to maintain good health for all her years, she knew the answer. She stated that everyday she took a teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice when she got up in the morning.

This woman claimed lemon juice was the secret to her long life. And, that could be the real reason. Lemons are high in Vitamin C and surprisingly have a bit of iron and calcium. Lemons are also antibacterial as well as antiviral. They have the power to boost the immune system.

Though this tip may not be for everyone; drinking a teaspoon of lemon juice, next time you have your water handy, try adding in lemon juice. It just may be a great health benefit to you as well.

More Than a Weigh In. Tips on Triggers:

Tips on Triggers: More Than a Weigh In.

Woman Stepping onto ScaleA lot of times when trying to loose weight, people will “hit a wall”. The scale stops being inspiring, because the number stopped reducing. That can trigger feelings of discouragement along with other emotions. Don’t let it bother you.

Easier said then done, I know, but if you keep up with your regimen; other changes are still happening inside your body. And, within a few days to a few weeks the scale will start to move again, sometimes substantially.

That is why I say take weekly pictures too, it will visually show you those subtle differences that can trigger accomplishment and keep you maintaining that good feeling. When you can feel and see the positive changes, you will feel the determination to continue on your road to good health.

Problem:

I wanted to paint my living room a deep red. I knew it would take a couple coats, but I’m up to about 10 coats and it still looks terrible! I’m at a loss should I cover it with a different color or hire a professional? Tara

Tip from Tia:

I love red, obviously. Red is by far, the hardest color to work with. It is actually a thinner paint than other colors, that is why it is so hard to get a decent coverage. I assume you didn’t use a primer? Either way, that’s alright. It is best if you choose to paint with a red or orange base color for better coverage, and be sure to use a grey primer before you start.

Now, in this case you are already 10 coats in, you can change the texture of your painting technique to give you a classy suede look. It’s quite simple and will now save you time, frustration and money. The suede technique is with a paint brush the width of your choice, and
you sweep the paint on in a constant “x†formation across the whole wall you’ve already painted. Yes it is the same color, but the red paint, as you have already witnessed, dries darker in thicker areas. Doing this technique will give a balance to the dark spots and a nice highlight to the thinner spots.

Other techniques can be used as well if you’re not a fan of the suede look. There is sponge, which is using a choppy sponge blotted across the wall. There is the rag painting which is messy, but really all painting can be messy. This technique is a twisted rag that you roll across the wall.

There are many techniques that home improvement stores have to offer as well. So check with them before calling in the professional. All of these painting techniques can help blend that problematic red and give a super custom look to your room.

A quick side note to remember, if you want to cover up that red now or in the future. Colors have a science behind them. Pigments are important in covering over another color. The best pigment to paint over red and orange is a neutral taupe color. It will give you the best coverage and overlay so pink tones don’t come cascading thru. And remember to be realistic, if you have a huge room or vaulted ceilings; the professional may just be the right way to go, since they have the right ladders scaffolding and tools for the job. Professional painters come in and get the job done right and quick and leave you with less
of a headache.
