Repurpose Your Old Items into Spring Fun

Repurpose Your Old Items into Spring Fun

Spring is here, and people around the country are spring cleaning by scrubbing their houses from top to bottom, clearing boxes out of garages, and pulling weeds and winter debris from yards. You’re probably going through stuff that you no longer use or need or have outgrown. Before you haul it off for donation, consider repurposing it. If you think outside the box and add a little paint, you can turn old items into something new and fun.

Cookie Sheet Memo Board

There’s always an area of the home where little papers pile up. The papers get lost in the pile, so the coupons expire, the memos get forgotten, and the receipts are completely disregarded. A memo board is a great place to store these items so that they’re literally in your face. Instead of buying a boring, corkboard-style piece, repurpose an old cookie sheet and create your own memo board.

To start, spray your cookie sheet with a metal primer, adding a fun color of spray paint afterward. Next, you’ll cut a piece of fabric large enough to cover the baking surface of the cookie sheet and use Mod Podge – a popular crafting supply that acts as an all-in-one gluing, sealing, and finishing medium – to secure it to the cookie sheet, allowing it to dry overnight. Lastly, spray a layer of glossy clear paint to the entire board to protect the paint and fabric. Attach your papers with magnets, and you’re done!

Old Bed Spring Reimagined

If your child has outgrown her crib or toddler bed, don’t toss the bed spring. Instead, use it to make a memo board, a craft supply storage center, or a trellis for your garden. Acting as a trellis, the wire frame allows climbing fruits and vegetables and ivy to weave their way up and through the wiring as they grow. You will need to prime the metal by spraying it with a can of metal primer, and then spray paint it a color of your choosing. This will prevent rusting and make it more aesthetically pleasing. Seal and protect by spraying a coat of glossy clear paint. For more structural support, consider enclosing the bed spring in a wood frame.

To use the bed spring as a craft supply storage center, follow the same steps above. In addition, you’ll need items in which to place your supplies and ways to attach them to the springs. Place pipe repair clamps around glass jars (such as mason jars or old spaghetti sauce jars) and tighten the clamps. These can be secured to the springs using twine or zip ties to store pens, scissors, rulers, and more. Attach wire baskets using S-hooks to store glue, paints, fabric samples, and more. You can also use clothespins on the wires to attach some items, and magnets on the thicker edges to attach notes and other papers.

Dragonflies from Ceiling Fan Blades

If you have old ceiling fan blades, table legs or spindles lying around – or purchase them at a Habitat for Humanity Restore or Goodwill for just a few dollars – consider creating a dragonfly to hang inside on a wall or outside on a fence or tree. Start by lightly sanding the fan blades and table leg or spindle. Next, use a marker to draw the wing shapes on the ceiling fan blades. Cut along these lines with a scroll saw or jigsaw, wipe the blades with a damp cloth, and allow it to dry.

Now you’re ready to apply primer and paint to the blades and table leg or spindle. Seal the paint and protect your dragonflies using a clear coat of spray paint. A hinge can join two blades together to make wings, as well as join the wings to the body (a table leg). Use drawer pulls, washers, or other hardware to create the eyes, and antenna straps, metal wire, metal plumbing straps, or other strips of metal for the antennas.

There are many other ways you can repurpose cookie sheets, bed springs, and ceiling fans. There are also other items to repurpose like old Tupperware and kids’ toys. With some imagination and a little work, you can repurpose your stuff into fun, bright, and creative spring décor, gifts, storage units, and more. With other items, utilize the right boxes, and you’ll find that your storage situation is much more organized.

Is He into Me ? Is He Not?

By Guest Blogger Cy Bryon

Is He into Me ? Is He Not?

“Ugggggggh Men, Lol,†said by anyone who’s dated a male.

Stressed Businesswoman

You’ve all had that moment where all you want to know, “Ok I think he’s into me, but ugggh I don’t knowâ€, Ahhhhhhhhh! Help!!!!

Well, help has arrived.

Guys have many ways they handle relationships or should we today call them situation-ships.

If a guy is really into, and you really want to know the best way to tell, be unapologetically you.

tipsfromtia.com sexIf he’s interested, you never have to position yourself for attention. When a man is interested they begin to make time instead of excuses. They begin to plan and in those plans you steadily become more included and involved. A man who is interested will ask you about your day, and make an attempt to learn more about you with every conversation. He will show he listens by incorporating what he hears into his daily life so he can comfortably adapt his life to include you. He ask simple questions like, “What’s your favorite color or flower?†He will notice your menu selections at dinner like drink choices and foods so he can get an idea of your taste. If he’s interested you will quickly become his first text in the morning and last at night .

It’s almost like he makes you a part of his routine without you asking. If you’re thinking he’s into you, turn off the TV, radio and phones, and see if you can hold his attention by simply just your presence. A man who is really into you will undoubtedly show it and usually his eyes tell the story. If I leave you with anything here…, read his body language.

Remember “His eyes won’t sigh if his words are a lie.† ?2⤠#CyBryon #Wordsmith #CandleLightCowboy ?

Skincare Products: Waste of Time or Worth The Dime?

Skincare Products: Waste of Time or Worth The Dime?

When you see a new skincare product that is promising to settle every problem you have ever had, then it’s tempting to just jump right in and go for it. The price tag might make you wince, but you’ve got a problem, and you’re willing to do what it takes to solve it.

Whatever the issue is – from rosacea, to sensitive skin, to those wrinkles that keep building up around your eyes – we all have a tendency to believe the latest bottle of snake oil (so to speak) is going to be the one that resolves it. However, this somewhat flies in the face of the fact that there’s so many products – if these things had been fixed by now, what’s with all the variety?

Could it possibly be the case that skincare products are all marketing and not enough actual scientific study? Or is something else at play here?

Problem #1: We’re Impatient

arm-woman-hand-girlPexels.com

If you have ever tried a face cream that promised you eternal youth and then threw it away two weeks down the line, then you may have been too impatient. It hits us all: we expect instant results and we’re simply not prepared to wait for them.

This becomes problematic when we use skincare products because of cellular turnover. A product only has a chance to work when it can deal with newly grown cells; very few products can do anything about existing cell growth (and those that do are in the realm of cosmetic surgery, not topical products).

For this simple fact of biology, you should always give any product at least six weeks before you dismiss it as useless. This is especially true if you’re dealing with adult acne, products for which need at least two months to stand any chance of making a difference.

Problem #2: Everyone Is Different

This is a known fact to an extent. We don’t all buy the same products, for example. Some of us will target anti-aging treatments, other acne, and others will be looking for ideas to help with sensitive skin. So that’s an accepted fact: everyone has different body chemistry and different problems.

So why do we not accept that sometimes, a product just doesn’t work for us? It might not be a bad product; it might be outright revolutionary for some people. Just because something doesn’t work for you doesn’t mean it’s a dud. You can dismiss it, but dismissing all skincare is cutting off your nose to spite your face. You just haven’t found the right product yet.

Problem #3: Expensive Is Not Better

People have a tendency to see money meaning value and a higher quality. To an extent, that’s true: the components used in a $50 serum are probably of better quality than a $2 serum. But that doesn’t make them more effective. Just because a product costs a fortune no more guarantees you result than a lower-cost option. Often, you’re as much paying for a higher quality of packaging (glass versus plastic bottles, for example) as you are a better, more efficient product. Try things from every price point until you find something that works for you.

I Want To Break Up: Five Soul Destroying Words

I Want To Break Up: Five Soul Destroying Words

The person that you love the most in this world has just uttered five of the most soul-destroying words that you will ever here: ‘I want to break up’. Maybe you knew this was coming; perhaps things haven’t been right for a while now? Or maybe you have had no idea that your partner was unhappy and are in complete and utter shock? Either way, hearing those five little words is never easy, especially when you have put your heart and soul into your relationship, only to have it crumble around you.

Knowing what to do when the love of your life tells you that it’s over is difficult. Whether you were expecting it or not, it doesn’t make dealing with a breakup any easier. A lot of women struggle to know what to do and what steps to take when their partner wants to break up. Although it’s going to be hard no matter what you do, you need to get to grips with what is happening and start putting yourself and your children (if you have any) first.

To get through your breakup and get your life back on track, here’s what you need to do:

Talk to your ex-partner

The first step in any break up is talking to your ex-partner. Whether that is face to face or over the phone, it doesn’t matter. What you need to do is talk things through, this will allow you both to get some closure and will help to make organizing your separate lives easier. If you have children or pets that you share custody of, this is even more important. Try to discuss the important things like who will live where, when will the children see each parent, and things like that. If you can settle these things amicably, it will make the divorce process easier for everyone.

Find a lawyer

Regardless of whether you want to make your divorce an amicable one, it’s a good idea to have a lawyer on hand. As that way, you have someone to explain each part of the divorce process to you, and also have someone to discuss any concerns that you have with, such as the custody arrangements for the kids. Your best bet is to hire a divorce specialist to help with your case so that you know you are in the best hands. If money is tight, you may be able to get appointed a free lawyer, depending on your financial circumstances, that is.

Spend time with your nearest and dearest

Marital breakups are hard, which is why spending more time with your nearest and dearest is so important. You might think that you are coping with the break up on your own, but it’s always good to have a support system in place to lean on. Just in case you find yourself struggling a little bit with everything that’s going on.

Breaking up is never easy, especially when you are married to your partner. However, what it’s important to understand is that sometimes it’s for the best. It might be hard at first, but in time you will most probably be happier and more content for it, it just takes time to adjust, that’s all.

Habits Of The Highly Healthy Guys

Habits Of The Highly Healthy Guys

pexels-photo-198747Image source

When it comes to achieving something in life, a lot of men like to seek the advice of industry leaders, they like to know what highly successful people did to get to where they got. What were their habits? Things like, what were the writing habits of highly successful authors like JK Rowling? What were the approach habits of highly successful entrepreneurs like Steve Jobs?

But what about when it comes to your health?

It is something we recently overheard a wonderfully healthy elderly man talking about. He was questioning the habits of highly healthy people and using that as his inspiration to stay wonderfully youthful, and here are the highlights of what he was saying.

pexels-photo-221210Image source

Get Into the Habit Of Exercising

Physical exercise is undisputedly important, but making everyday exercise a habit is no easy feet. What highly healthy people do is find an exercise that they enjoy – really enjoy – one that will make you smile, one that you will want to get up and do every day for no less than 30 minutes. It could be walking, running, surfing or anything. Just do something you love.

Get into The Habit of Forgiveness

Highly healthy people forgive because they understand the negative repercussions of holding onto something and letting it eat away at their health; their mind, body, and soul. Everyone has been stung by the actions or words of other people, but highly healthy people don’t let the resentment get to them. They forgive because if they don’t they will be the ones that suffer.

pexels-photo111Image source

Get Into The Habit of Screening

Highly healthy people know and embrace the fact it is better to prevent than aid. They see the importance of getting checked and getting checked regularly. They see the importance of asking questions about their health and asking questions in general. How can they change their diet, what is HIFU used for, how can they get a better night’s sleep; all of these will help because the more they know the less stress there is to affect them.

pexels-photo-48726Image source

Get Into The Habit Of Smaller Portion

Far too many people eat far more than they need to, which is partly the fault of the restaurant industry that has grown its plate sizes over the years. What’s more, anything we can’t finish we get put into a doggy bag. But not highly healthy people. They prefer quality over quantity knowing that what they put in their mouth is what keeps their engine running, and the better the fuel is the better they will operate; head through to the heart.

pexels-photo-122829Image source

Get Into The Habit of Doing Something New

The thing with highly healthy people is they all know the shortness of life and the importance of new experiences. They understand how new experiences challenge their mind and body to keep them healthy by optimizing their mental and physical well-being. It doesn’t have to mean you do different extreme sports every day, but simply doing the same tasks at work in a slightly different way each time. All of this will fight of tedium and the state of comfort our bodies don’t thrive from.
