How Can You Heal From A Migraine Quickly?

When compared to other forms of stress and tension, headaches are quite common. There are some pains that you normally will feel when you have had a very long day and simply are on the edge of mental and physical exhaustion. However, what is not so common is a migraine. Don’t confuse this beast with a headache. Headaches are usually a dull but predictable pain in your head. It feels like a blanket pain as it’s spread throughout your cranium. In terms of description, a headache can be minor to moderate in discomfort. A migraine on the other hand, is a deep piercing pain and usually occurs behind the eyes and in the temples. The pain a migraine brings can be described as severe to incapacitating. It’s not uncommon to hear about a story that involves someone with a migraine thinking believing they were dying. This kind of incredible pain only happens rarely, but when it does you should be prepared to handle it in a different way compared to a headache. Act quickly and you can dissipate the migraine relatively quickly also.

Flush out and reintroduce

Much like a headache, a lack of hydration can often accelerate the severity of the pain of a migraine. However, ingesting your system with things like alcohol and smoking can also bring on a new stage of pain. Firstly you need to flush out any toxins that are in your system, so drink a lot of water. Reintroduce some healthy minerals and vitamins into your system, by eating fruits and vegetables in your next few meals. The influx of oxygen molecules from the fresh water will counteract any affect carbon dioxide molecules might be having in your system. However that’s not the only thing you need to flush out.

Emotional anxiety can bring on a migraine as stress levels in your brain are elevated. The overworking of the mind continually for days and days or possibly longer, can actually trigger a migraine. This is because of the amount of stress you have been under has mounted up and up to the point that your emotional imbalance has had an affect on the chemical balance. Find some way to destress and whatever it is that has got you worked up, try to forget about or plan positive steps to resolve the matter.

Don’t undervalue napping

A lack of sleep can definitely trigger a migraine. You simply don’t get enough rest and recuperation time so you become overworked and fatigued. Even if you are eating and drinking healthily, a lack of sleep can simply overload your cognitive brain. But for some people getting a nice wholesome sleep at night isn’t easy. You might in fact be working late, or perhaps you have a newborn baby in the house that causes you to not make use of a full 8 hour sleeping pattern. What you should do then, is to get in the sleep you need when and where you can. Napping during the day can actually have the same effect of a normal night’s sleep.

This is because your body and mind gets the time to repair and rejuvenate. Your body doesn’t care how it gets the rest, it just needs to get the appropriate amount so don’t undervalue napping. To aid in your nap, use hearing protection so that the usual noise of the daytime won’t affect your ability to slow down and shutdown. There are different kinds of hearing protection you can buy such as disposable, earmuffs and ear plugs.

Stop consuming caffeine

Caffeine can sometimes trigger a migraine further, but to a lesser extent than alcohol. However to heal quickly from a migraine, you should swap your daily cup of morning coffee with a more healthy option such as a fruit drink. Caffeine is the main ingredient in many energy drinks and bars also. So if you are working out or perhaps using energy drinks as a stimulant to keep you going through a late night at the office, use natural sugars instead. Fruit smoothies and vegetable pastas are a far better option to fuel you throughout the day than caffeine anyway. Even some tea brands put caffeine in their tea bags, and when your head is absolutely thumping from a migraine, even just a little amount can make things worse. Be careful of what you’re consuming.

Migraines are simply a headache on steroids. But that is just pain wise, because the concentration of the pain is acutely in the temples and right behind the eye. To heal quickly, get the sleep that you need and if that means naps during the day then try to make time for this. Stop consuming caffeine and alcohol to boost your chances of the migraine going away sooner rather than later.
