Love Yourself: How To Have A Positive Body Image and Improve Your Relationship

Most people with body image problems usually end up having relationship problems as the way they view their body makes them shy away from connecting and getting intimate with their partner. According to a survey, 97% of women have daily negative thoughts about their body. Some of the recorded thoughts of women who participated in the poll included being “ugly,†“too skinny,†and “obese.†Having a negative body image can result in stress, anxiety, depression, and it may even trigger eating disorders. It can also make people blind to their own self-worth. The result? Women with a bad body image often settle for a not-so-great relationship, or they pull back from giving affection, or worse, they may even give up on searching for love. This year, come to terms with your body and improve your relationship with your significant other. Here are some tips on how to love yourself and have a positive body image.

Accept what you can’t change, but improve the things you can control

One of the best ways to have a better body image is to accept the things that you can’t change but to take active steps to improve the things that you can control. For instance, there may be nothing that you can do to get taller, but you can certainly have a stronger and leaner body if you devote the time to work on it. Going on a sensible weight loss diet plan may help to melt off the pounds, and when paired with a regular exercise regimen, you may begin to see good results in just a few weeks. However, you will have to be diligent about this and get a move on instead of just wishing for a good body. Create a workout schedule and a diet plan, then put these in a conspicuous area in your home so you’re reminded of your goals.

Be confident

Attractiveness isn’t about the way you look—it’s about how you radiate positivity and self-confidence, and that is sexy no matter what size you wear or how much you weigh. It may be tough to feel confident when culture dictates that you have to be slender or fit into a certain dress size to be attractive, and this can lead to anxiety over your looks which can take a toll on finding and keeping a relationship. You can boost your self-confidence by taking the time to dress and groom yourself well, learning a new skill, and embracing the things that you love whether it’s a hobby, a movie or book series, or music. Being yourself and being comfortable in your own skin will make other people drawn to you and will make you more open to experiencing life and love.

Take a break from social media

Social media makes it easy for people to compare themselves to others as some people may present an unattainable image and lifestyle on Instagram or Twitter. Don’t compare yourself to others and take a break from social media if you have to. Keep in mind that people only post the best aspects of their lives online—what’s really going on behind the scenes may not be as pleasant or exciting as the pictures that they post on the Internet.

This year, remind yourself that you are good enough and worthy enough of being loved. Try these tips to have a better body image and to start loving yourself more. Being confident will lead to a better connection and relationship with the person who loves you just the way you are.
