Proven Ways to Get Your Kids to Eat More Veggies

Have you given up on getting your kids to eat healthy, especially veggies? If yes, you need to reconsider your decision. Your child takes the habits that are built at a young age along in their adulthood and throughout their lives. If you want your kid to develop good healthy habits of eating right and incorporating more vegetables in their diet, all you need is going some extra mile with patience and consistency.

Some tips and tricks that I personally tried on my kids to get them to eat and like veggies actually worked really well. Want to know what they are? Keep reading to the end and then, try them out!

  1. Purchase and Cook Veggies with Them

Kids feel more excited when you involve them in an activity and ask them for help. Therefore, take them to the farmer’s market with you and ask them to pick the veggies. Meanwhile, educate them the benefits of each vegetable and how nutritional it is. Then, come home and ask them to help you prepare the meal. It will not only get them interested in eating what they cooked themselves but also help get them familiar with the health benefits of each vegetable individually.

  1. Eat what You Want Them to Eat

Trying to get your kids eat beans and veggies while you enjoy a cheese burger? Not going to work! Kids look up to their parents and follow their habits and behaviors. Therefore, if you want them to eat veggies, you need to have the same on your plate and embrace it. Plus, make sure there is no second option on the table left for the kids to select from. If everybody will be eating the same dish, they will not have an excuse to complain and reject the food.

  1. Few Bites Rule

If you succeed in taking a few bites down the system of your kids, you will easily be able to get them familiar with the taste and then, gradually it will be less unusual for them each time. Keep this rule until they are completely comfortable with the taste. However, do not force them to eat as it only further puts them off.

  1. Reward on Finishing Food

Bribing kids is not the right approach. Instead, adopt the approach of rewarding when they observe good behavior and finish their plate. Take them to an amusement park or buy them a great family trampoline that they can hop on in the backyard on weekends. When kids feel appreciated, they tend to repeat the same behavior.

  1. Keep the Patience Intact

If you lose your patience at some point, all the efforts of developing the habit in your kids goes down the drain. You need to realize how important it is to stay patient with the kids like a teacher who tries to teach a new lesson. If you want them to learn quicker and better, stay consistent and do not lose your patience. You will definitely succeed sooner than you think!
