Tips and Tricks for Discovering Paris

Paris is the beating heart of Western civilization. Some people would claim that this honor belongs to London, but one can easily argue that, while London is indeed the heart of industrialization, Paris is the cultural center whence the traditional Western culture had come. Today, it stands like a gaudy monument to the aesthetic and architectural achievements that can hardly be compared to anything, or, for that matter, anywhere in the world. Every cosmopolitan globe-trotting traveler should visit this city at least once, and here are tips and tricks for discovering Paris.

Know the broad strokes

The city of Paris boasts countless museums and cultural hotspots, but it is the very city, the endless, intricate cobweb of streets, that represents the historical museum in and of itself. The city on the river Seine is, roughly speaking, divided into two gargantuan zones – Rive Gauche and Rive Droite, each beginning on the banks of this magnificent river and extending seemingly endlessly into the urban mist. The Right Bank, north of the river, used to be a zone reserved for aristocrats, while the left bank represents the Parisian heart of bohemia, where students and struggling artists used to dwell.

Today, the northern side is home to luxury shopping, alluring ateliers of artists and a melting pot of multicultural communities. Of course, it is not as simple as it used to be – the city has become appropriately larger over the centuries, so it is divided into roughly 20 neighborhoods that, once you look at the layout from a bird’s perspective, spiral clockwise. Curiously enough, this makes the shape of the city resemble a snail shell.

Sort out the priorities

As a newcomer to Paris, you definitely need to sort out your priorities when it comes to the landmarks you need to see. Now, before you even look at the map of the city and start deciding on where to go first, there are several attractions that should definitely top your list – the Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame de Paris, The Louvre Museum, and the Champs-Élysées. After you see these four legendary locations/landmarks, your next set of destinations can be completely arbitrary and they are left to your imagination.

Introduce a comprehensive structure to your visit

The Paris is simply too big, overwhelming and rich in all things beautiful to be savored during a single visit. Without a proper touring “structure” to your visit, you’ll likely end up engulfed in chaos of uneven days. This is why it is absolutely crucial to introduce a comprehensive structure to your touring – which is why reliable and affordable Paris tours are so helpful.

Walk around your neighborhood

Depending on where you are situated during your stay, the exploration and discovery of interesting places in your neighborhood can prove to be a truly surprising and delightful endeavor. Remember, there is hardly a single corner of Paris that doesn’t offer something utterly charming or interesting. Have a long walk around your neighborhood and see what surprises come your way.

Rely on alternative sources of inspiration

We live in a time when the only thing that separates us from endless information is the tips of our fingertips. Use your digital device and a local Wi-Fi access to cross-reference the matters that interest you with your immediate environment to find exactly what you want to see. There are countless alternate sources of inspiration that can turn your visit into a magical experience. For example, you can dig through Instagram accounts to discover Paris.

You can also direct your attention to numerous neat online guides to discover the best Paris has to offer without going through the hassle of listening to tour guides that are embroiled in a shouting contest with the traffic.

It is not a surprise to anyone that, once they set foot on the busy street of Paris, they find out how packed with tourists its sidewalks are. The city is a destination where rivers of people from every corner of the world coalesce and create a vibrant urban landscape that can only be rivaled by the streets of New York City and Hong Kong.

This is why a visit to its most legendary hotspots can be in equal measure mesmerizing and overwhelming, but if you feel as if the influx of impressions is overloading you, remember to turn around the less frequented corner and enter the rustic and idyllic alleyway that appears to be from a different place altogether. The city of Paris is filled with little oases of comfort and tranquility – you only need to seek them out, tips and tricks not needed.

How To Create An Unforgettable First Impression

How To Create An Unforgettable First Impression

If anyone ever tells you that first impressions don’t count, don’t believe them. In fact, studies show that if someone feels negatively about you on first meeting you, it’s incredibly hard to change their initial perception. And from job interviews, to new friends, to finding love, it’s making those positive connections that has the power to really change your life. Think of your initial meeting as laying the foundation for a future, deeper relationship – you need those foundations to be solid in order to build something great. You have, on average, just seven seconds in which to make your mark – so how do you ensure that the impression you’re creating is a positive one?

Be Present

We go through life half-distracted by the constant tug of our smartphones or even our own thoughts, but when meeting someone for the first time, it pays to make sure that you focus on them. One of the most compelling behaviours for this is eye contact – if we don’t make any because we’re distracted, or too shy, it’s very hard to create a positive impression. Human brains are wired to respond to the chemicals generated when we lock pupils – serotonin, the ‘happy hormone’, oxytocin which gives a sense of wellbeing and bonding, and feel-good chemicals dopamine and endorphins are all triggered by this simple, evolutionary response. So it really is crucial to sincerely meet someone’s eyes when you are first introduced. However, there’s definitely a balance to be struck. Make too much eye contact, or come across like you’re staring and the gesture will backfire – you’ll come across as either aggressive or creepy! A few seconds of eye contact followed by a natural gaze around at your surroundings is best. If you’re meeting several people, say your partners’ friends or a panel at a job interview, make sure that you share eye contact with everyone, interspersed with looking at the room around you.

Pay Attention To Details

Being well-presented is almost certainly a good way to win people over – there are a lot of snap judgements that get inferred from how you choose to present yourself. Rightly or wrongly, the speed and volume of information that is processed by the human brain when encountering someone new has evolved into a series of informational shortcuts, or judgements, that will form an unconscious bias about you based on stored information. And while it may be very true to say ‘Don’t judge a book by it’s cover’, unfortunately, that is exactly what we as human beings are wired to do. Make sure you cover off the details in any important situation – that your clothes are pressed and free of stains, your teeth are nice and white,  your hair is neat and you appear presentable. If you want to be memorable you could try a trick such as developing an outfit signature, like a colourful silk scarf, or even finding a signature scent such as a delicate rose perfume. People will begin to associate you with these attributes, and they can make you stand out in a good way.

4 Great Reasons to Make Your Home Smart

It’s safe to say that technology is advancing at a rapid pace. In no more than a couple of decades, we went from corded phones to smartphones you can use to chat with your friends and shop online. Still, one of the biggest advantages the age of technology brought us is smart homes. Now you can have devices in your home like a thermostat, security cameras and a TV connected to a system you can control from your smartphone. If you’ve been thinking about making your home smart, here are 4 great reasons why you should go through with it.

Security

One of the best things about having a smart home is that it means you’ll have an advanced security system that includes cameras and motion sensors. When it comes to cameras, you can connect these to your smartphones, which will allow you to take a look at what’s happening inside of your home when you’re away. Motion sensors can be set up to send you a notification whenever someone enters your yard. Some smart homes even have fingerprint identification instead of traditional locks, and if you decide to invest in this as well, it’ll be even more difficult for burglars to get inside.

Flexibility

With more and more people deciding to make their homes smart, most new devices on the market can easily be integrated into an existing smart home system. This is a huge plus, mostly because even if you have top-notch devices, it doesn’t mean they’ll last forever, so it’s possible that you’ll need to find replacements at some point. And since you can integrate any new device into your smart home system, there’s absolutely nothing to worry about when making your home smart. Not to mention that there are all kinds of new smart devices being released and you’ll be able to add each of these into your smart home.

Remote control

We’ve already mentioned that by making your home smart, you’ll get to control all of your devices from your smartphone. It cannot be stressed enough how important this is, as it makes your life much easier. Let’s say you’re on your way home from work on a hot day. All you need to do is tap your smartphone and you’ll have your air conditioner turned on. It’s also important to mention that it doesn’t take a lot of effort to make your home controllable from far away as you can have professional CBus installers get the job done for you.

Functionality

If you’ve decided to make your home a smart home, you’ll also get to see all of your devices performing better. For example, by replacing a traditional TV for a smart one, not only will you be able to watch Netflix or YouTube on a big screen, but you’ll be able to connect it to your smartphone with just a few taps. Or, in case you choose to get a smart oven, cooking your chicken to perfection will be a real piece of cake. No matter which smart devices you opt for, your home life is guaranteed to become more enjoyable.

Smart homes sure are exciting stuff, and they’re definitely worth investing in. And with more and more homeowners deciding to turn their homes into smart homes, the biggest tech companies out there are giving their best to outdo one another. As a result, there are all kinds of smart devices available and some of these simply have to find their place in of your home. We can only expect to see more of these being released, so make sure you keep an eye on new smart home devices on the market.

How to Prevent the Spread of the Nasty Things.

By Tia Cristy

Catching a cold or flu can happen at any time of the year. It’s not just bias to a few choice months during the year. Germs can spread easily and quickly, so the best offense is defense. The same goes for viruses, diseases, infections, STD’s, STI’s that can spread onto surfaces as well. It’s time to prevent germs.

The first line of defense

Make sure your immune system is in a healthy state. Getting the right vitamins like, Vitamin C, and supplements like, Echinacea, along with the right diet can prevent these and the spread of nasty things from touching you, even if you happen to touch them. Always remember to check with your doctor before starting a vitamin or supplement to see if it will work for you.

Second line

Make sure your body and mind are well-rested. A rested body can fight off germs. A well-rested mind that believes the body is healthy can make itself healthy. There is a true study that shows how powerful mind over matter really plays out in the overall health of the human body.

The third line I just discovered

We all know a clean surface is important to keeping the germs at bay. However, sonosupplies.com offers a selection of wipes that are hospital grade that you can use in your home. What makes them different than the typical wipes you’d buy at the grocery store? Well, plenty. They kill the scary stuff that you don’t even want to think about lurking on your door knobs and counters. Our group was a bit nervous to try them after reading the label that stated ‘Not for the skin’ and ‘keep away from food’, but let’s be honest… the other wipes have the same warnings. After getting confirmation from the company that the wipes are safe to use in kitchens and bathrooms, we went to town cleaning everything.

The most pleasant part, I didn’t notice an odor. I noticed freshness. Everything smelled clean. Added bonus… I used wipes on the book case, and haven’t seen the dust pile up like it normally does. The thing to remember when it comes to germs, they are everywhere. We need a little bacteria in our lives, but I’ve decided to add wipes into my cleaning regimen on a weekly basis. If someone has a cold, well, I might use them on a daily until the germs have passed.

Get yourself and your home prepared for that flu season that’s practically around the corner. Get your vitamins and minerals into your core on a daily, be restful while keeping a positive mindset and make sure you keep yourself and your elements around you clean and germ-free as possible.

Conception’s Got You And Your Man Hot, Sweaty, And…Searching For A Surrogate?

Conception’s Got You And Your Man Hot, Sweaty, And…Searching For A Surrogate?

When it comes to conception, most of us imagine things will get hot and steamy. Sex between you and your partner might have been good before, but surely it’ll crank up a level when there’s added incentive? You likely expect to be at it like rabbits every chance you get. All the better for making that baby, right ladies?

But, what happens when things don’t go to plan? You’ve been trying for months and nothing’s happened. Then, you get the news you’ve been dreading. One of you is infertile, and suddenly your hot and steamy journey couldn’t seem colder. The two of you may go from jumping into bed every second to facing major marriage problems in one short appointment.

The good news is, infertility is by no means the end of the story anymore. With options like surrogacy, there’s every chance you can still go on to conceive a genetic child. But, you first need to go through the experience of finding a surrogate. Talking to your doctor for guidance or searching the web for surrogacy options in Montana or wherever you’re local is a great place to start. But, it’s all too easy to lose the love during this stressful process. Remember, you want to have a child because of the love you share, so it’s essential you don’t let that happen. And, to make sure of it, we’re going to look at a few ways to keep hold of that intimacy, even when surrogacy is on your cards.

Focus on sex regardless

So, sex isn’t going to lead to babies the way you’d hoped. But, that doesn’t mean you should stop making an effort in the bedroom. If it helps, remember that you’re still on the road to conception. Keeping on top of your sex lives can help keep that momentum alive, as well as preserve the intimacy. Focusing on sex can also help to alleviate any guilt the infertile party might feel. If your man received the bad news, for instance, he might feel that you’re withholding sex as a form of punishment. And, that type of feeling isn’t going to help either of you. So, keep making an effort here. Remember how much fun you had in the bedroom before babies were even on your cards. It might be hard at times, but you need to work to keep that going for the duration of your surrogacy search.

Do everything together

It takes two to make a baby. But, when it comes to surrogacy, it’s all too easy to slip into bad habits of separation. After all,  you’re both giving different samples without each other in the room. And, you may decide to do independent research to put your minds at ease. Before you know, you’ll be having very different experiences of what should be a shared journey. Make sure it doesn’t happen by keeping this between the two of you. Don’t go off into your own heads at any stage. Instead, attend appointments together. If it helps, ask if you can go in with your man while he gives his sperm sample. And make sure not to research alone. Instead, sit down and snuggle up with the laptop one night. Together, visit resources like the ConceiveAbilities Blog which can answer a lot of questions for you. Just the act of coming together like this can help to keep you close and build intimacy during a difficult time. Make sure, too, that you make decisions together. You’ll need to choose everything from your timeline to your surrogate herself. And, it’s essential this is done together. Otherwise, it’s all too easy for one partner to fall out of the loop.

Keep communication open

Communication is always essential in a relationship, especially when it comes to sex. But, you guys know that, else you wouldn’t have gotten this far. The trouble is, when issues of infertility crop up, it’s all too easy for the shutters to come down. A mixture of embarrassment and reluctance to face the problem are natural. But, you need to lift those shutters before they lock on your love. Instead, make sure you’re discussing your feelings from day one. If you’re upset, talk about it. Make sure not to be touchy or take things to heart. Just listen to your partner, and work towards solutions together. There are sure to be difficult discussions along the way, but you can’t afford to skip them. Only by facing these things head on can you both stay connected for when your baby comes along. Though it may not feel like it now, that could be a lot sooner than you think.
