Tips in Action: Razor Burn at the Beach.

Having smooth legs at the beach is a desire, but shaving the day of, can cause some serious discomfort. The sand and salt water can cause razor burn to freshly shaven legs.

A good tip is too, shave the night before you hit the beach. If it’s a spontaneous event, try using an electric razor. You may not get a close shave, but your legs will appear to be hair free and reduce your chances of beach razor burn.

Tomatoes Before Sun? Tip in Action:

Tip in Action: Tomatoes Before Sun?

Skin care is so important when entering the sun. Protecting the skin on the outside is important, but there are ways to protect your skin from the inside out.

Adults hitting that bloody Mary breakfast buffet when at the beach, before going sea side, may not be a bad idea.

Pump the kids up with tomato juice, before jumping in the pool could be a way to go, as well.

Tomatoes can help prevent the skin from absorbing the dangerous parts of UV rays.

Healthy Skin. Tips on Triggers:

Tips on Triggers: Healthy Skin.

A great natural skin care regimen is important. The skin is the largest organ we have, and you have to take care of it.

Some people have very sensitive skin, where cleansers, astringents and scrubs are not possible; soap can be abrasive enough.

Try a mixture of witch hazel and tea tree oil as a facial wipe. Get a small bottle and fill it with witch hazel and add several drops of tea tree oil. Shake the bottle and apply to face with a cotton ball. The witch hazel will be a light astringent, pulling out impurities and healing the skin while the tea tree soothes, moisturizes, kills bacteria and other impurities, while healing the skin as well.

Rubbing Alcohol Burns Like the Sun. Stupid Tip of the Day:

A fun day at the beach can be a punishing night if your sunblock wore off, or worse, you forgot to put it on. It’s a fact, that rubbing alcohol burns like the sun when you have an open wound on your skin. That is because it rushes to any bacteria or infection to kill it quickly before it can spread into the blood. It’s the best sanitizer on the planet.

However, to what might be a surprise, rubbing alcohol is amazing for sunburn, without causing any pain.

Rubbing Alcohol For Sunburn

I know it sounds crazy to think about blazing sunburn that aches to the brush of a feather could be extinguished by rubbing alcohol of all things, but it’s true.

The rubbing alcohol can penetrate deep down into the layers of skin and put out the fire without causing pain.

You’re Still Cooking

Summer days are wonderful for your health. When you go out into the sun, the sun warms you from the outside in. However, if you aren’t proactive, the sun can cause severe health issues. Picture a chicken in the oven. The chicken cooks from the outside in. That’s why you have to use the right temperature, so the chicken can cook thoroughly, right? Well, in this case, you’re the chicken. Not literally of course. But just like the chicken, the sun bakes your skin to a nice golden tone, hopefully. However, if the sun is really hot and you are not wearing sunblock, you’re going to burn.

When you come in from the sun, your body is still cooking from the inside. Back to the chicken, when you remove it from the oven, it will cool down on the outside, but when you break it open, it is still steaming. That’s how our bodies are; they’re still cooking until they cool down completely.

Quench the Fire

Using rubbing alcohol on your skin after being in the sun will quench that internal fire, so you don’t continue to burn and end up in serious pain later.

Before you shower or relax after being in the sun, splash rubbing alcohol on your skin, being sure to avoid cuts or open sores. The alcohol will absorb into the skin, putting out the heat of the sun quickly.

Add A Little Aloe

After using the rubbing alcohol on your skin, it will feel tight for a few minutes. That is because it is sopping up the extra oils that are acting like cooking oil in your layers of skin. It will relax soon enough, but if you want to add a little moisture back into the skin quickly, apply some aloe. Aloe is good for sunburn as well, so you’ll get a double treatment on your over-cooked skin.

How Long Are the Effects of the Sun?

You can continue to have effects from the sun up to 3 hours after taking shade. Using rubbing alcohol on the skin will extinguish the continuing burning from the inside, and out.

Only use rubbing alcohol if you don’t have open wounds and you don’t have any adverse reactions to alcohol.

Be sure to apply sunscreen a half-hour before spending time in the sun. It allows the sunblock to set before being exposed to harmful UV rays. Stay safe when out in the sun. Be sure to have places and areas to take shade when needed. Most of all, stay hydrated when spending time out in the sun.

Tricks for Sunless Tanning.

Tricks for Sunless Tanning.

Problem: Hi Tia. It’s time for the pool to open, and I don’t want to look pale in my suit. Do you have any tips or tricks when it comes to self tanning?

Answer: Good question, and really, it’s a great alternative to tanning in the sun.

Sun is important for Vitamin D, but the rays can be harmful with too much indulgence. Sunless tanning can be natural with the right product, and only you can determine which product and color is right for you. Trial and error may be what you have to do to find the right one; there are sprays, airbrushes, lotions and wipes to choose from.

Do a sunless tanner the day before you need a tan. It’s easy to correct any mistakes or darken your color if needed. Jumping in water after applying sunless tan, will just leave you a streaky mess and it’s not good for the pool water either. So plan accordingly.

First tip, use a separate face tanner, on the face, unless the tanning product says, full body. Body tanners can slightly dye hair, and darkening facial hair is not a goal for most.

The next tips would be, don’t shave legs before applying tanner, if possible. Exfoliating your legs and body before tanning is a good way to get a longer-lasting tan. Shaving beforehand can cause razor burn or darken pores. Shaving is best after the tan color has been achieved.

Remember, tanning can dye clothes, so be sure to wear dark colors while waiting for the color to take. Wash hands well when finished, when using a lotion or wipe. Do forget to get around jewelry, if wearing it. Color can tend to build up behind rings.

If hands have turned color or you have any darker patches, use peroxide on a cotton ball (wring out, so no drips or runs happen) and wipe the area. It will fade the color to blend within a few hours.
