Top Tips For Men’s Skin Care This Winter

Top Tips For Men’s Skin Care This Winter

We are now in the autumn and before we know it, winter will be upon us and with that is cold, harsh weather. This can play havoc with our skin, leaving us with dry and often sore skin.

Men, in particular, tend to neglect their skin and leave it to the elements. They are more likely to be working outside, they are more likely to be shaving their faces and much less likely to be using any skincare products. Put all these things together and you have the perfect recipe for sad winter skin.

Here, we look at some of the things that you can do to help protect your skin this winter so you can have skin that feels smooth, soft and perfectly touchable.

Clean your shaving tools

No matter how good your cleansing and skincare routine, if you are using a beard trimmer or a razor and do not clean them in between uses, you are transferring all of the dead skin cells, oil and grime back onto your skin. Not only is this pretty gross, but it is a cesspool of bacteria which can even cause infections of the skin. Make sure you clean your shaving tools in between use and if they begin to show signs of rust or damage, get rid of them and buy new ones straight away to avoid injuring your skin.

Moisturize

If you are going to do one thing for your skin, whatever time of the year it is, make sure you moisturize it. Moisturizing is not just for women – it is for anyone with skin! It is especially important to use a moisturizer along with other skincare products from letsdisco.co in the winter to replace all the natural oils and moisture lost from your skin. Opt for something rich and luxurious and slather it on every morning and every evening after cleansing.

Invest in a humidifier

Skin is our largest organ and reacts to our environment. In the winter, when we have our central heating and car heating cranked up to full blast, hot, dry air is pumped around the space that you are in. This plays havoc with your skin, causing it to feel dry, itchy and flaky. Combat that by increasing the amount of moisture in the air. The best way of doing that is to put a humidifier in the room. This will not only benefit your skin but your hair and overall health.

Keep it covered

The two main causes of skin dryness in winter is cold and dry air. If you can minimize your skin’s exposure to harsh winter winds and cold, dry air, you can stop the natural oils of your skin from being stripped away. Where possible, wear gloves to protect your hands and use your scarf or collar on your jacket to cover your nose and lips. The less contact with the cold air and your skin, the better.

Keep hydrated and eat well

This is not really a winter skincare tip, but more of an all year round skincare tip. One of the best things that you can do for your skin, and general health, is to drink plenty of water and eat a healthy, balanced diet. When it comes to winter, we tend to eat lots of rich, heavy comfort foods and, when it comes to Christmas, drink lots of alcohol. This will leave your skin looking and feeling dull, lifeless and feel pretty horrible to touch. Balance out the beers with plenty of water and have a side of veggies with that pizza. It might be boring, but your skin will thank you for it.

Slough it off

This is a part of the skincare routine that many people – men and women – omit, but a gentle exfoliator or scrub will clear the skin of dead cells that cling to the face, clog up your pores causing acne and blackheads and make your skin look dull and patchy. It is particularly important as you get older – at the age of 25 or so, the rate that your skin sloughs off dead cells naturally slows down. Avoid the sandpaper though; something light and gentle is the way forward.

Taking care of your skin is not just something for women. Taking care of your skin helps your skin feel and look great, whatever the weather and whatever your age.

Preventing Hand Issues

Preventing Hand Issues

Hands are constantly being taken for granted. We use our hands for just about everything we do. So make sure to remember to give your hands a little TLC every day to prevent any long term issues.

Beautiful Hands

They say, a person’s face can hide their age, but the hands will never lie. That’s because hands are in and out of water. They are scarred and callous from heavy work. They are the one thing most people forget to put sunscreen on yet, they bask in the sun while driving. Using the wrong kind of moisturizer can actually dry hands out more than helping. Undernourished hands appear aged. Try using natural oils to hydrate by penetrating deep down into the layers of skin. Apply olive or coconut oil and wrap hands in plastic wrap for ten minutes to get nice, soft, glowy results. Using peanut butter on hands is also one of my favorites, but again, cover your hands with plastic or rubber gloves. You don’t want to make a mess.

Strong Hands

So you work with your hands, that should make then strong, right? In a sense, yes. But, forgetting to stretch and massage the hands can cause weakness. As a writer, I stretch my fingers everyday using a technique where I place my palms together and I spread and push my fingers together. Then, I workout my wrists in a circular motion. These exercises can prevent carpal tunnel. I also carry a lot of stress in my palms. I use a water bottle to dig into the tiny knots that form in the palm. The cool bottle helps with inflammation.

Cold Hands, Warm Heart

Although, that’s not accurate science. That’s what I tell people when I shake their hand. My hand temperature runs cool. However, it’s important to regulate your temp. I started to use cashmere writing gloves. They’re pretty sweet, actually. Writer’s fingers can get cold while the palms get sweaty. With fingerless writing gloves, the hand adapts, maintaining a balanced warm temperature. It’s best to keep hands on the warmer side when working with them. It’s better circulation, better sense of touch, and believe it or not, it’s usually less damaging if warm hands happen to get injured.

When it comes to hand care, prevention is best. Wear the correct gloves for the job at hand, no pun intended. Wash hands at all the appropriate times. Don’t overuse hand sanitizer. If you must use a lot of sanitizer, moisturize often. Take time out every day to massage your hands. If hands are feeling weak, squeeze a stress ball or a balled-up sock. If you’re not feeling relief, or you feel pain, let your doctor know. There’s plenty of help for joint health, nowadays. Our hands are connected to a lot in the body. It’s best to make sure nothing else like, arthritis is going on. And don’t forget, take some time out to pamper your hands every now and again. Get a mani or do a simple hand scrub and soak at home before cutting your nails.

Take care of your hands, so they can keep taking care of you for many years to come.

Beauty Tips to Help You Look Like an A-Lister

Beauty Tips to Help You Look Like an A-Lister

Do you long to look as flawless as Emma Watson, Gigi Hadid or Emma Stone? Do you wish that you could leave the house looking absolutely perfect without having to dedicate hours to an intense beauty regime? Here are some simple beauty tips to help you look like an A-lister in a hurry:

Invest in A-Lister Products

You might think that the stars you see on the red carpet only use the most expensive beauty products that are way out of your reach, but you’d be wrong. Many collections like the Anastasia of Beverly Hills makeup range are more affordable than you would think, and they will help you to more easily achieve A-list looks without too much effort.

Use Baby Oil

If you want to have the same soft, supple, glistening skin that the average A-lister seems to have been blessed with, you don’t need to spend a lot of money. In fact, you just need to spend a few dollars on some good old baby oil, which will do the trick just as well as the more expensive lotions and potions that you’ll find in an A-lister’s bathroom.

Try a Cream Highlighter

Another way to achieve skin that is radiant is by using a cream-based highlighter. Apply the product from your temple to the top of your cheekbone in a c-shape, before carefully blending it, to achieve the dewiest skin of your life.

Contour Your Way to Celebrity Cheekbones

If you want to achieve cheekbones that could cut glass, all you need to do is watch a few contouring tutorials and try out what you’ve learned. Contouring enables you to fake what you don’t have and play up what you do. Stars including Kim Kardashian are big fans of the technique which helps them to achieve a flawless face in surprisingly little time.

Apply Red Lipstick

Nothing screams A-lister glamor more than classic red lips. Stars from Marilyn Monroe to Scarlett Johansson are famous for their beautiful red lips that help them to ooze glamor and sex appeal. If you want to do the same, choose a lipstick that is smudge proof and try out several shades until you find the one that really suits your skin tone.

Use Green and Orange Concealer

You rarely see a Hollywood actress with dark circles, unless the role she’s playing calls for it. It’s not because they get plenty of sleep and avoid partying that their eyes always look so great either – far from it – it’s actually because they know that using green or orange concealer on under-eye circles will mask the problem for a flawless finish once the rest of their makeup has been applied.

Have Hair Professionally Dyed

You wouldn’t catch the average A-lister using a box dye at home, and it’s not just because they have more than enough money to go to the salon. You see, box dye is a crude tool that will not give your hair any subtly. Natural hair is made up of many different shades and highlights, which box dye simply can’t achieve. So, if you want your hair to be as envied as Jennifer Aniston’s, always see a professional hairdresser, especially when it comes to having your hair colored.
