Why You Shouldn’t Be So Scared Of The Future

No matter how old you are, if you’re still here, you still have a future, and while some people are suffering illnesses and know how long they have, for most people, we have no idea, and we need to look towards and plan for the future. Many people are scared of the future, and they think that this will get easier with age.

When you’re younger, you might be scared of going to a new school, then scared of going to uni, afraid of getting your own place, scared about whether you’ll be able to find a job, what you’ll do for a career and then frightened you won’t meet a partner, afraid of having a baby…

The list goes on, and to be honest; it never gets any easier. You will only have these first times once, and as you get older, the new things just keep changing. For example, you might be scared of living alone, fearful of falling, scared of moving into a care home, or perhaps you need to see here to find out about assisted living.

There are many different directions your life may take, but as you only get one life, there’s no point in spending it feeling scared. Here’s why you shouldn’t be scared of the future:

Did It All Turn Out Alright Before?

Think about the past now; what were you terrified of? Did you survive moving to that new school? Did you make friends and even still have some today? Think back to that job interview you were so scared of, okay you didn’t get it, but that turned out to be a good thing because if you did you wouldn’t be working where you are now and have met all the wonderful people you work with. Do you see?

While something that you’re scared of right now might seem like the most significant thing in the world, in the future, it will just be another story to tell. So don’t waste your time being frightened of it, you don’t know how it will turn out, so just go with it.

Enjoying Today Is A Gift

The best gift you could ever give to yourself is the ability to enjoy today without worrying about tomorrow. Take your anxieties on bit by bit, which will make everything more manageable, and realize that your future is not out to get you.

You Can’t Control It

Many people’s uncertainties come from wanting control–control over what happens next, how it happens, and how they’ll react in the moment. But it’s just not possible to know the future and control how it pans out. If you are scared of tomorrow, think of the things you can control today, the things you have now, think of just today, and how you can get through it. Think of how you can make today slightly better, think of how you can make this day a good day in case history repeats itself tomorrow. Think of making today count, maybe that is the only possible way you can prepare for tomorrow.

It’s Far More Fun To Imagine The Best

You might think that being cynical is being realistic, but actually imagining the best possible scenario can help you feel good in the now and move into uncertainty with a little more confidence.

It’s Exciting To Be Open To Uncertainty

Rather than avoiding your fear of uncertainty, it can help to get intentional about it. That doesn’t mean trying to eliminate it immediately but creating a little more space to accept and allow uncertainty here and there.

There comes a time in life when many of us find ourselves at a crossroads. Perhaps you’re thinking about changing your job, or you wonder if your partner is really the one. Identifying issues

If you feel like you need to make a decision between staying and leaving, try and pin down the reasons why you’re doubting the future of your relationship. What has caused you to ask questions? Do you see other couples and secretly wish you had what they have or have you come to the realization that your relationship isn’t making you as happy as it used to? Do you want more from life or are you worried that your partner is cheating on you or hiding something from you? Once you know why you have doubts and unanswered questions, you can start finding solutions. Maybe you need to have a discussion, or perhaps you’d feel more comfortable using services like https://www.investigators.net.au/private-investigation-services/surveillance/ to get an answer. Whatever is making you feel uneasy, make sure you think carefully before making a decision. If you do suspect a partner of being unfaithful or you have concerns about how they spend their time or money, get the facts first. It can sometimes be easy to misread the signs or put two and two together and get five.

Talking

If you’re having difficulties in your relationship, don’t bury your head and hope they go away. Tackle issues front-on, and be honest with each other. Sit down and talk about the situation and share what’s going on in your head. There can be barriers when it comes to communication, and you shouldn’t assume that your partner has the ability to read your mind. Something that is getting you down and occupying all your thoughts could be remedied by one simple conversation. If you find it hard to open up, it may be worth considering booking some sessions with a therapist or a relationship counselor. Putting yourself first

Often, we make decisions based on what would benefit other people, but ultimately, when it comes down it, you have to put yourself first in certain situations. There’s no point in dragging something out that isn’t making you happy because you don’t want to upset your partner. It’s very distressing to feel like you’re hurting somebody who means so much to you, but making that call may be the best option for both of you.

Do you feel like the future of your relationship is uncertain? If you’re at a crossroads, it’s important that you make the right decision and you take the right path for you. Consider why you have doubts and try and find solutions to problems. Talk to each other, be open, and make the call based on what will benefit you most.
