Top Tips For Men’s Skin Care This Winter

Top Tips For Men’s Skin Care This Winter

We are now in the autumn and before we know it, winter will be upon us and with that is cold, harsh weather. This can play havoc with our skin, leaving us with dry and often sore skin.

Men, in particular, tend to neglect their skin and leave it to the elements. They are more likely to be working outside, they are more likely to be shaving their faces and much less likely to be using any skincare products. Put all these things together and you have the perfect recipe for sad winter skin.

Here, we look at some of the things that you can do to help protect your skin this winter so you can have skin that feels smooth, soft and perfectly touchable.

Clean your shaving tools

No matter how good your cleansing and skincare routine, if you are using a beard trimmer or a razor and do not clean them in between uses, you are transferring all of the dead skin cells, oil and grime back onto your skin. Not only is this pretty gross, but it is a cesspool of bacteria which can even cause infections of the skin. Make sure you clean your shaving tools in between use and if they begin to show signs of rust or damage, get rid of them and buy new ones straight away to avoid injuring your skin.

Moisturize

If you are going to do one thing for your skin, whatever time of the year it is, make sure you moisturize it. Moisturizing is not just for women – it is for anyone with skin! It is especially important to use a moisturizer along with other skincare products from letsdisco.co in the winter to replace all the natural oils and moisture lost from your skin. Opt for something rich and luxurious and slather it on every morning and every evening after cleansing.

Invest in a humidifier

Skin is our largest organ and reacts to our environment. In the winter, when we have our central heating and car heating cranked up to full blast, hot, dry air is pumped around the space that you are in. This plays havoc with your skin, causing it to feel dry, itchy and flaky. Combat that by increasing the amount of moisture in the air. The best way of doing that is to put a humidifier in the room. This will not only benefit your skin but your hair and overall health.

Keep it covered

The two main causes of skin dryness in winter is cold and dry air. If you can minimize your skin’s exposure to harsh winter winds and cold, dry air, you can stop the natural oils of your skin from being stripped away. Where possible, wear gloves to protect your hands and use your scarf or collar on your jacket to cover your nose and lips. The less contact with the cold air and your skin, the better.

Keep hydrated and eat well

This is not really a winter skincare tip, but more of an all year round skincare tip. One of the best things that you can do for your skin, and general health, is to drink plenty of water and eat a healthy, balanced diet. When it comes to winter, we tend to eat lots of rich, heavy comfort foods and, when it comes to Christmas, drink lots of alcohol. This will leave your skin looking and feeling dull, lifeless and feel pretty horrible to touch. Balance out the beers with plenty of water and have a side of veggies with that pizza. It might be boring, but your skin will thank you for it.

Slough it off

This is a part of the skincare routine that many people – men and women – omit, but a gentle exfoliator or scrub will clear the skin of dead cells that cling to the face, clog up your pores causing acne and blackheads and make your skin look dull and patchy. It is particularly important as you get older – at the age of 25 or so, the rate that your skin sloughs off dead cells naturally slows down. Avoid the sandpaper though; something light and gentle is the way forward.

Taking care of your skin is not just something for women. Taking care of your skin helps your skin feel and look great, whatever the weather and whatever your age.

How to Grow and Keep a Great Looking Beard

How to Grow and Keep a Great Looking Beard

So, you’re a guy that’s decided to grow a beard? You’ll be the envy of all of the guys that secretly wish that they could sport a handsome beard and you’ll no doubt turn a few heads from those that admire beards on guys.

But where do you start when it comes to growing a beard? How do you make sure that your beard looks dapper and not a complete mess?

Here are some beard care tips for the guys out there that want to grow their mane. Read on for more.

Know Which Beard Shape Will Suit Your Face

When it comes to beard gains, you need to know which style of beard is going to best suit your face.

Generally, you should let the beard soften any extremities in your features and pull everything closer to the centre of your face. For instance, if you have a long face, you wouldn’t want a beard that is long, and that will accentuate this fact. You’ll want a beard that widens your face so plan to grow a beard that has wider sides and is kept short at the chin. If you have a square face, think about softening up your jaw and having a larger patch of hair under your chin.

A Good Beard Takes Time

When it comes to growing a great beard, it will take time. You shouldn’t expect to see your beard appearing within days or even weeks. A good beard could take months or even longer to cultivate.

Be patient with your beard. It will grow eventually.

Shave the Perimeter

There is a difference between a beard that is left to grow wild and a well-kept beard, and that is that the perimeter is always kept neat and tidy on a well-kept beard.

This means shaving your cheeks and your neckline to keep your beard in check.

Know How and When To Trim Your Beard

If you want a great looking beard, you need to know when and how you should trim your beard. Trim too early or too short, and you’ll be left with a weak-looking beard.

Invest in a good quality trimmer. If you are not confident that you’ll do a good job, find a barber that is experienced at trimming beards. A good rule of thumb when looking for a barber for your beard is to see if they have a beard themselves. They will understand the plight of perfecting the perfect mane.

Wash Your Beard Often

Just like the hairs on your head, you need to wash your beard often. Think about getting a good beard wash that will not only clean your beard but the skin underneath it too. Dead skin under your beard hairs can be a problem, so you may want to clean your beard with an antidandruff shampoo.

Then, once you have washed your beard, gently pat it dry. Never use a hairdryer or aggressively towel dry it as this could cause damage to your hairs.

Body Art for Men: Trends for 2020

Body Art for Men: Trends for 2020

Body modification and body art is nothing new; men and women alike have been adorning themselves with piercings, tattoos and other forms of body expression for years now. Trends come and go, though, while a few old classics have managed to stand the test of time.

Below, we’ve compiled a list of the current most popular trends and men’s styles in body modification and art for both piercings and tattoos in 2020. Do you see yours on the list?

Piercings

Piercings will never go out of style. With so many different types to choose from, and so many different varieties of body jewelry, you’ll never get bored with your piercings.

Back in the late 1990s, when piercing hit a fever pitch, it was all about the tongue ring and the eyebrow ring. Those are still around, but they’ve fallen a little out of trend, in favor of other, newer piercing styles. While not new, labret piercings (in the chin), philtrum piercings (just under the nose/top lip), and septum piercings (under the nose as opposed to the side/nostril) are all hugely popular at the moment, and for good reason: all of them look really cool. All three styles are relatively easy to care for and don’t pose a lot of risk for infection as long as you take care of them.

Classic piercing locations that have stood the test of time are the lip piercing, the side nose ring, nipple piercings and the ever-traditional ear piercing (both earlobe and helix, which is higher up on the ear). All of these classic styles look great on any guy (or gal), and are easy to care for, with a huge variety of jewelry options available.

Then there’s some of the more avantgarde piercing styles, such as corset piercing and dimple piercing.

If you’re interested in making an appointment for men ear piercing, or any other type of body piercing, contact your local piercer or body studio to make an appointment. Many tattoo shops also do piercings.

Tattoos

Tattoos are also nothing new, but the technology that tattoo artists are using is always changing and just gets cooler and cooler. These days, tattoos are more than just your usual blocky design or quick-to-fade ink. Tattoos can be done in watercolor, in white ink or invisible ink, 3D style tattoos, and so much more.

In recent years, popular trends have waned from the usual blocky lettering or tribal tattoos of the past, with body art enthusiasts instead opting for lifelike portraits of loved ones, celebrities and even their own pets. These ultra-lifelike portraits are so detailed that you’d never guess they could be done on flesh, but they can.

Many enterprising tattoo studios are also starting to offer cover-up tattoos at lower or discounted costs for victims of abuse who may have scars, which is a really empathetic and creative way to give back to the community. And you’d be surprised at how amazing these tattoos look!

Tattoos used to have such a stigma attached but these days, almost everyone has at least one. So what are you waiting for?

Whether you’re interested in a piercing, a tattoo, or both, 2020 is a great time to take advantage of a hot new trend and get some body art that looks totally awesome.

The Dos And Don’ts Of Not Living With Your Kids

The Dos And Don’ts Of Not Living With Your Kids

If you are now separated from your partner, you might find that it’s difficult to adjust to your new life. You might have had to find a new place to live, which could have proven to be very stressful on its own, but you might also now be living apart from your children. Some parents will find this a very upsetting situation to come to terms with, but it doesn’t always have to be bad. You will certainly be able to still see your children, and they might even be able to stay the weekends at yours.

To help you get used to living apart from your kids, here are some very useful dos and don’ts.

Do Know Your Rights

First of all, it might be necessary for you to know what your divorced father’s rights are. If you are a divorced mother who is living away from your kids, your rights will be very similar to those mentioned in the link. Unless you have shown some serious signs of neglect or of being a poor parent, then you will be allowed to see your kids on a regular basis. If you and your ex are still on good terms, you might want to agree to the kids spending so many nights at yours throughout the week. If you aren’t on good terms and your ex tries to keep you away from your kids, you should be within your legal rights to go to court and fight for better access.

Don’t Stop Paying Maintenance

You will be legally required to pay maintenance to your ex partner if the kids live with them for most of the time. In fact, even parents who don’t see their children are still obliged to pay for their maintenance. You must make sure that you make every payment on time otherwise you could end up being taken to court. If you do care for your children, though, I’m sure that you will be more than happy to pay this money to help support them.

Do Find A Support Network

If you do find that it is hard being separated from your kids for so long, you might find it really useful finding a support group. There are lots of these groups around the country that are made up of divorced or separated parents who no longer live with their kids. You will be able to offer each other help and advice. This is also a great way to meet some new friends who are in a similar situation to yourself.

Don’t Get Too Down About The Situation

It can be easy to start to feel very negative about your new life, but dwelling on this will  only make you feel much worse. Ideally, you should try to stay positive. At least you can be very happy about still being able to see your kids on a regular basis!

You will find that you adapt to this new life situation if you follow these dos and don’ts.

What To Look For In A New Car This Year

What To Look For In A New Car This Year

When it comes to life, there are always going to be things that you need to upgrade, it’s very much just the way of things. However, this can also be expensive. Because things only ever last so long, and then you need to find something new. But this is exactly why we need to be aware of what we’re going to need to pay out for, and then start to save up for it. One of the areas of your life that this very much applies to, is your car. Because they just don’t last forever. And sure, you are going to find that you’re able to look after your car well to prolong its life, but sometimes, that can cost you an awful lot of money. So, it can be a good idea to make sure that you’re upgrading your car over the course of a period of time.

Now, if you know that it’s time to make an upgrade on your vehicle, you’re probably looking for the right deals to come your way. But at the same time, to make sure that you’re able to get the right car for your budget and your family, you do then also need to make sure that you know what you need. To do this, it’s handy to have priorities. As this can help you to narrow down options. So let’s take a look at what some of them could be.

Style

To start with, let’s talk about style. This is all about the image. While this won’t be important to everybody, because substance is so very often more important than style, maybe you want a nice car to drive around in. For this, you’re going to want to make sure that you’re considering some of the most stylish cars that are around today. This could be the Lexus LC Coupe, or maybe even the sporty little Audi TT Coupe? Think about what kind of look you want from the look of a car if it’s important to you.

Safety

Next, there’s safety to think about. Because for a lot of people, a car needs to do the job and allow you to get from A to B. For this, you’re going to want to look at the safest cars on the market right now. Most of the time, you’re going to be looking at a reliable family car or SUV for this. But definitely consider models that span the different car sizes, as outlined in the following point.

Size

However, it’s important to think about the size of the car that you want too. Do you know what kind of size you need. Maybe you need an SUV, such as the latest Honda models, to fit your family in? Or perhaps you want something smaller just for you? Make sure you’re aware of whether you want a small car, an SUV, or even an executive model. Because also, this then allows you to narrow down your options too.

Efficiency

And then we have the efficiency of the car, or the overall cost. If you know that you don’t want to spend a lot of money on your vehicle, then you need value for money. And not just in the sense of what you’re buying. But also, in how cost effective it is on the road. If you know you want an energy efficient car, this may also be great to run too. Just make sure that you’re considering the cost of insurance, maintenance, and fuel too.

Accessories

If you know that you want set features in the car, it’s very important for you to think about what kinds of accessories that you want. Do you want an entertainment system? Or maybe you want to go for integrated WiFi or Bluetooth? Make sure that you know how you want the car to be finished, because this can then point you in the right direction of your perfect vehicle.

Reliability

Finally, maybe the most important part of buying a new car for you, is that it’s reliable. And this is so important if you drive a lot for work or have a family – as you won’t want to be without a car. So take a look at some of the most reliable models on the market right now. For small cars, this could be a Toyota Yaris, or an Audi A3 as a family car, and then you also have the Volvo V60 as an option for an executive model. So think about these options if you’re looking for something of quality.

Bring back Old-school Dating

by Cy B.

Bring back Old-school Dating

Since it seems to be all the topic on most social media platforms, I have been asked to reflect upon the topic of dating. The Do’s and Don’ts of today. For those not necessarily understanding today’s dating techniques it is a tough platform to tackle.

Over the years so much has changed and now deemed as ‘acceptable’ nature or so-called behavior. What was once known as dating has now become almost a mythical word that has lost meaning, just as ‘courting’ had in the 70’s. Nowadays, it’s almost as if social media decides your fate.

What happened to sending flowers to an address that doesn’t start with www.. or when phone conversations ended because one person fell asleep talking and you stayed on the line just to listen to them breath, because for that moment it was enough? What happened to working disagreements out and fixing problems? Not just acting like, hey I’ll just ignore this and let it build–not say anything and allow it to eventually explode? When did it become acceptable, bouncing from person to person and just leaving people in pieces because communication and motives were never clear, only expectations?

Y’all, love hurts.

I agree, yet expectations hurt even more when led by blinded by love. One of the worst feelings in life is falling in love alone. Both sexes mastered this little game it seems. Because dating has detoured so much, it’s like motives have selfishly changed nowadays. What was once a considered a rebound is, sadly, very popular now and is almost accepted as a relationship status. ‘First base’ and ‘second base’, once took time to access, is now almost expected on a first date by many, when before couples had butterflies even thinking about advancing. It’s so much more when someone can undress your mind.

Here’s a tip, gentlemen undress a womans mind and the body will follow. When advancing too quickly, you cannot touch the passion entrapped within a womans mind. Dont ask her about her imagination, become her imagination. If you feel the need to ask her something, ask her about her passions, her fears, her hopes and dreams. Ask her what she wants in life and what makes her laugh and cry. Take time to discover her favorite color and ask why. Listen to the stories that make her, her.

Those stories created the art that is her. Listen, and in front of your very own eyes, she will allow you the view the creativity through the events and happenings that has helped shape this beautiful woman. You can then see past the visible beauty, and witness her depth, pain, pleasure, vulnerability and the love in which she possesses in her beautiful soul. This my friend is a gift. A gift that you can give each other without a price tag.

Take it back to the days when snap chat and Instagram weren’t dating sites and cheating portals… When ten likes didnt change your mind about a person… When advertising to your following what you want isn’t even close to what you actually desire. Take it back to when catfishing meant there was going to be a good dinner.

All this back and forth mental-game playing, and men this… and women that… blah… blah… blah… We all need to step back and think. We have all been that broken heart, and we all have exes and problems. But remember folks, before social media was in relationships, communication between two people existed. Studies have shone, relationships worked out alot longer just a short decade ago. I’m not bashing social media. Guys and Gals remember, social media doesn’t ruin relationships, acting single or disrespectful towards your partner on social media in public/private chat rooms, does!

If you are searching for a lady, then be a gentleman. Ladies, if you want a gentleman, then simply be a lady. Chivalry is not dead, it’s just waiting to be, as they say today, digitally remastered by those who value its lost meaning.

We add all these new words to the dictionary every year that make no sense. Yet these don’t change… Love, commitment, honesty, trust, chivalry, dating, communication, integrity, humanity, respect, dedication, desire, passion, and the most evil one of all, lust. One must remember, in life, the most beautiful things are seen with the eyes closed. With eyes closed, you are led by trust. With eyes open, you’re often blinded by lust. Love doesn’t hurt, expectations do. Be open about what you want from the beginning. When it’s out on the table then it’s so much easier to understand–no guessing games, no one being led on, and no surprises.

Like the most famous misquote of Eldridge Cleaver, ‘If you’re not the solution, you are part of the problem.’ It’s simple, bring back LOVE.
