There are different rules and regulations regarding vehicle inspection tests depending on the state you are located in. However, most people would agree that getting your vehicle inspected on a yearly basis makes sense to ensure you are safe on the road.

What is a vehicle inspection and do you need one?

A vehicle test is a yearly requirement for all drivers, and it is illegal to have your vehicle on the road without one in some states. You are, however, allowed to drive the car to a pre-booked vehicle test so long as it is local. If you have been in a crash because of a car that is not road worthy, you should hire a car accident lawyer, as they will surely be able to build a strong case based on this.

A vehicle inspection is important to make certain your vehicle is safe enough to be on the road. Therefore, they check everything from the seat belts and suspension components to emissions and brakes, and, of course, your lights. One thing that is not included is the running of the engine. You will need to book this as an extra in most cases.

How to find the best company for a vehicle inspection

You need to choose a test center with care, so you can be confident of the highest levels of quality. Make sure they have a formal quality control process in place. They should also have an impeccable reputation in the industry, and you should be able to read some of their previous customers’ comments on-site. If your vehicle fails its vehicle inspection, the professionals should do all of the necessary work needed for it to pass. Be sure they will provide you with a fixed quote upfront and an accurate timeline for how long the work will take as soon as the vehicle inspection is complete.

How long should the inspection take? Should you wait around or drop off your car?

A vehicle inspection test can be a yearly inconvenience for most, which is why you need someone who can provide a quick, convenient, and flexible service. The vehicle inspection should only take around 45 minutes.

Most people choose to drop their vehicle off and pick it up at a time of your convenience, getting their friend or family member to come with them so they have got a ride. If you would like to wait at the car garage and have a cup of coffee while they perform the vehicle inspection, you should be able to do this. Or maybe look for a company with a local collect and deliver service?

Set yourself a reminder so you don’t forget to get your car inspected every year

If you have a tendency to forget that your vehicle is due a vehicle inspection, it is worth setting a reminder on your calendar. Some companies will send you a reminder a month or two months before the expiry date of your current vehicle inspection.

Every once in awhile whilst scrolling the internet you’ll come across something you’ve never heard of before but that could serve you well and save you money later down the line – The Lemon Law, may very well be one of those occasions.

What is the Lemon Law?

Believe it or not, the Lemon Law has nothing to do with the sour citrus fruit with which it shares its name and instead is a law designed to protect a car owner whose car is considered a ‘lemon’.  We realize that is still a little confusing, so let’s clear things up a bit. When buying a car you expect it to be free from issues or faults but sadly this is not always the case. Generally, a car is referred to as a ‘lemon’ if it is still under warranty but has dangerous issues that aren’t able to be repaired. The Lemon Law, therefore, was designed to protect a car owner whose car is a lemon from falling into an endless cycle of faults and repairs, and when proved to be a lemon ensures that the car’s owner is suitably compensated with a new vehicle or cash to the value.

Where is the Lemon Law active?

The Federal Government and each individual US state each have Lemon Laws to protect their inhabitants and the precise details of these laws do vary. In general, California is considered to have one of the toughest Lemon Laws that ensures the best result for the consumer and is referred to formally as The Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act. The Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty act applies not only to cars but to all consumer goods under warranty, and so it’s not just cars that can be classed as a lemon.

Is your car eligible?

In California, your car will be covered under the Lemon Law so long as it is under warranty, and so this doesn’t mean that it needs to be brand new. There are a number of different warranties that could apply to your vehicle including the manufacturer’s warranty, a powertrain warranty, the dealer’s written warranty or a CPO (Certified pre-owned). Where you purchased your car may also not matter as you could still be able to claim under the Federal Lemon Law.

What should you do if you think your car is a lemon?

You can file a claim for the Lemon Law yourself but as with any legal matter, it is always best to contact an attorney.  A Lemon Law Lawyer will know the law in and out be able to advise you on how best to make your claim to ensure that you get the maximum amount of compensation owed to you. A Lemon Law Lawyer will also be able to defend you against the manufacturer or car salesperson who will naturally want to fight the Lemon Law to save themselves some money. What’s even better is that when hiring a Lemon Lawyer you needn’t pay a thing! If successful the car manufacturer will pay your legal fees leaving you with the full amount of compensation owed to you.

Understanding Value

It helps if you understand how value works with a vehicle, as if you do you are much more likely to know where you stand. When it comes to buying, selling or just valuing, you need to know what you are doing, and it is thankfully easy enough to get your head around when you need to. Most of all, you need to know that all vehicles undergo a significant diminishing of their value over their lifetime. This means that the value is always going reduce over time, no matter what. The moment you drive it away after buying it, in fact, its value reduces by around a half to a third. Thankfully, there are ways to counteract this, the best being a diminished value claim. If you are wondering: What is a diminished value claim? You are not alone, as many people don’t know about them. It’s simply a way to claim money back off the difference between the starting value and the current value, and it’s something to remember you can do.

Driving Efficiently

The better that you can drive with efficiency, the less money you will be spending on fuel, so this too is a hugely important thing which you should look into at your earliest convenience. There are a lot of ways to make sure that you are driving efficiently. First of all, you should limit your braking, acceleration and stalling. All of this uses fuel where you don’t need to. You should also make sure that you change gears at the right time – usually around two and a half thousand revs – so that you can be sure that you are not wasting any fuel there either. Finally, if you can cruise most of the time at around fifty, you will use much less fuel on the whole.
