Hands the Same Color as the Easter Eggs? Remove Dye from Hands.

Problem: Tia, how do you get the dye off the kids’ hands after dying Easter eggs?

Tip from Tia: Having a blast coloring eggs for Easter with the kids, is a lifetime memory. But, you don’t want the kiddos to have that color on the hands by the time Easter pictures roll around.

A quick way to remove the dye from their hands, without using anything too abrasive, is peroxide. Take the kids over to the sink, have them cup their hands and pour peroxide into their hands and have them rub together.

(Side Note: Make sure they don’t have any large cuts on their hands. Warn child of the funny tingling sensation while applying; It’s best to give them a heads up if they’ve never experienced an un-painful use of peroxide)

Let it sit on the hands for a couple seconds to a minute, rinse and then wash with soap. Repeat process if necessary.

While you may have thought you and your partner were hurtling towards happily ever after, life doesn’t always work out that way. Consider The Kids 

You will understandably wonder how you are going to cope with splitting from your partner, but you’re not the only person impacted by your divorce you need to think about.

For their sake, you and your partner must consider the kids. Maintain a respectful atmosphere in the house to prevent any problems and remind your kids that you still both care about them.

Divorce comes with a variety of substantial changes, but rather than moping around (because you’ll have plenty of time for that if you choose to), you must get your affairs in order. 

You and your partner may share bank accounts and split car payments. Both of your names could be on the mortgage, so you’ll need to work out a compromise. Easter Egg Dye Kit at the Store is Better. Stupid Tip of the Day:

If the kids are begging for an Easter Egg dye kit from the store, but you don’t have the funds to splurge on that magic invisible crayon. You can just say, you got it covered already without feeling you’re depriving them.

Get colorful

The kits are fine, but they can be expensive if you don’t have extra cash. Food coloring will give you any color you want to make, just as good as what comes in the kit. Remember the primary colors; Red, blue and yellow. Red and blue make purple, blue and yellow make green and yellow and red make orange. Using food coloring allows you to make as many colors and as dark and vibrant as you like. Just don’t forget to add the vinegar to the hot bowl of water to make it stick to the eggs. And, if you have to buy food coloring, feel confident that you’ll have those colors for many Easter’s to come, if that’s all you are using them for.

Hold up

Those little cardboard rings that hold the egg while drying, are easy enough to recreate using foil. Fold the foil less than a half inch repeatedly until you have a firm long piece of foil. Cut several pieces where they can comfortably make a ring to hold the egg. Push the ends together to hold the ring shape and sturdy enough to hold the egg. (seen in above photo)

Decorate with stickers

Kids always seem to have stickers stashed somewhere, allow them to use their own stickers on the eggs to decorate, as if it’s a big treat.

Make your own magic

Now, that magic crayon; get a white candle stick break it into pieces giving a piece to each child to use before dying the egg. The wax will keep the dye from sticking.

If you want to make the memory more memorable for them, and you’re brave enough, you can allow the kids to help make the colors with you using the food coloring while teaching them how colors are made.
